the upgradability of that Mongoose is nice. You also are right about that GT, while it's nice it has the better parts on it the frame does look dated. GT needs to update their frame design. They can keep their patented triple triangle design that they are known for but give the frame more modern geometry and put a damn tapered headtube on all of their frames, or atleast a 44mm headtube. IDK if you saw my comment on your other video but I think after I get that new Poseidon Norton frame I'll still keep my GT Aggressor frame but I'll use it as the frame for my parts bin gravel bike because the frame I'm currently using on that bike is too small for me.
The Switchback has a few different levels! The top trim is Microshift with a clutch and actual cassette

Bought a mongoose ardor for 400 dollars,doesn't seem heavy at all ,I'm liking it,last bike I rode a lot was a bridgestone MB1 that was over 30 years ago.i don't think you have to spend thousands of dollars to get a nice rideable mountain bike .
Very upgradable as well
I was on GT's website the other day, their new high-end bikes look amazing, their electrics look real nice too.

The new nishiki Colorado’s are nice. The Giant brand bikes are nice as well. House of Sport has had them out for a little bit now

Oh man I love my GT Avalanche
The new Axum comp x is too good of a value at $550. It’s worth it to me to get the dropper and micro shift drive train even if you have to pay a little more to get it tuned at a real shop
I think GT Avalanche is a perfect replacement, it got most modern features except boost thru-axle.
On paper it offers the same as a bike shop with the build and tune ups, but I've never seen a Dick's "mechanic" who knew how to properly tune a bike. I would say it's more on par with Walmart than a bike shop. That said, I'd pimp the heck out of that Mongoose if I could find only the frame. However, that price for a full bike with a Freewheel is too close to entry level bike shop to be worth it since many entry hardtails at shops have 44mm head tubes and internal dropper routing, at least for the seat tube.
hey! love the videos! i went to go get my gt aggressor pro at a Dick's and they knew next to nothing about the bike. i investigated around the rack to see that every gt aggressor pro was unfinished in one way or another and had loose headsets. i was very disappointed. luckily work at a bike shop and can do most of what i needed to do myself and didnt have to worry to much. however, for the customers though... idk it wasnt a good thing imo.
Reading the tea leaves here...Mongoose Switchback is the bike Wolfman referred to (maybe) being in possession of and then saying maybe it shoukdn't be out on display and for sale in the store (hint, hint, wink, wink).

Michigan Dick's has like 5 Mongoose bikes available unfortunately.

Is it me or do the majority of the bikes look the same? I know there are differences between them, but they all generally follow the same design guidelines.
WOW for all that cash I would go with a polygon hardtail bike over that goose for sure!
Heck yeah. Their cheapest hardtail with a 1x11 is $749. Includes a Shimano M5100 drivetrain, internal routing, and MT201 hydraulic brakes. That is a solid deal.

Gt Avalanche was on sale for 4:50 in the GT aggressor Pro I got for 380 this was not even 2 weeks ago Washington State they were actually a lot of GTS in My Dick sporting Goods area

Dicks doesn't have a modern trail bike at a good price point vs walmart.
They got a couple overpriced/outdated XC geo frame
Target is flirting with progress with the Kent Enclave .. but I think it may just be a more modern avalanche per say.
Xc geo? Tapered head tube..better OE fork, 1x.. but downfall on that bike are the bolt on wheels and twist grip shift

Which bike would we purchase? The answer...NONE. Too expensive and not the greatest quality IMO. Really enjoying these bike search videos though! Good content dudes!

I think that GT looked dated because of it being an XL I’ll bet the medium and small look more modern with a shorter seat tube and lower stand over. It’s cool seeing new products out again and looking forward to your upcoming reviews.

i love my 2019 gtap. its completely modified and now on to its second set of brakes. but i was looking at the new gtap's and they offer nothing for what they are. the axum in design and features is light years ahead of the gtap now its kind of embarrassing. the gtap seems like its built for people that havent bought a bike since 2005.
