  • Does your powder measure require a return-spring, or two?
Only the old-style Dillon powder measure uses a return spring, with or without the failsafe system.
The new Dillon powder measure uses the failsafe linkage and does not require the return spring. In fact, the return-spring can introduce problems.
If your double-linkage is sticky or clunky, check out these videos too:

Thank you, I have a number of Dillon presses, with most of them fitted with the new safety powder system. And I do not wet tumble my brass. But I have had several issues with the new system. It has been such an issue that I have fitted all my Dillons powder measures with springs. I have had this same discussion with Dillon's technical support team, and they have told me the same. Thanks for the video, I did glean one something from it. Cheers

Explain please how a wet tumbled case can cause a problem

Wet tumbled cases are "too clean" on the inside, and this causes the case to stick to the powder funnel and this changes the way the powder bar returns.
Dry tumbling leaves a little carbon residue inside the case that acts as a lubricant, so dry-tumbled cases generally don't stick to the powder funnel

If you're wet tumbling, then use Hornaday 'One Shot' case lube to spray on the cases. Makes life so much easier too.

That is the MOST confusing advice I’ve ever heard.
