New to the channel. Great Video. I live in Japan, and purchase these items often from Mercari, Yahoo Auctions, etc directly. So my personal experience using a proxy buying service is lacking. However, a few Japanese twitter accounts I follow have speculated that because the retribution process is near non-existent for accounts that scam foreign buyers using a proxy service, more accounts are conducting more "scamy" activities with foreign buyers and for domestic purchases, they conduct their business ethically. There is also speculation that foreign buyers are the targets of these scams because the foreign demand of Japanese product is so high and cutting into the ability for TPC to satisfy demand domestically.

Prior to this Pokémon craze, I always thought Japanese people were honest. It’s crazy to think of the different lengths they would go through

Although honesty does tend to be highly valued by their culture, there's always people in any country who will be scummy when enough money is on the line. On the other hand I've always had excellent experiences buying games and systems from people in Japan. It's always in very nice condition or is fairly priced, I love importing retro game stuff from Japan. So thankfully other hobbies haven't been ruined by this sort of scamming.

I got scammed too, I bought 10 boxes of VSTAR Universe, all were resealed with the SRs missing. :(

The problem is that if a Japanese reseller realizes they buyer is using middleman service, the motivation to scam goes through the roof. It is practically zero risk for the Japanese reseller. The buyer can do a charge back, but the middleman service takes the hit and they will ban the buyer's account. All around lose lose except for the reseller. And yes, The Pokemon Company needs to revamp their entire security measures for their sealed product. This will keep happening as long as TPC continues to sit on their hands.

What pokemon needs to do for boxes is make it one solid box and have the pull tab go all around the middle so it splits the box into 2 pieces making it almost impossible to reseal

It wasn’t EBay. I think it was FromJapan. I’m not familiar with that site, but I hope they have a good refund policy.

Yikes, I dont know what I would do if that was me. What an absolute gut punch for the buyer. It makes me so mad that people do this, why can't people just sell the correct stuff and not be dicks. Great video and coverage man, I had not seen this post before. Keep up the phenomenal work man.
