    For those interested in the accuracy of the SDM 104s: I have one and it puts average 5 shot groups of 10cm at 100m with Barnaul, 12 cm with Hungarian surplus, and 15 cm with Geco (doesn't like Geco apparently). It's from 2019 and fit 'n' finish is fine (don't expect polished surfaces though).
    I think it's great that people are finally doing reviews in English on SDM AKs as everything on English language youtube is so US-centric, and we in Europe mostly can't get US AKs and they can't get ours (at least not the way they leave the factories for the European market).

    • @greyman1987
      @greyman1987  2 роки тому +1

      Thats why I made the review. Before I bought it I couldnt find a single one. Yea the accuracy is very good with surplus stuff. I was very surprised even tough I didnt expect much.

    • @mananaVesta
      @mananaVesta 2 роки тому

      @@greyman1987 Chinese surplus is not good though. I have some of that too and didn't even bother to shoot groups with it, it's so bad. I use it only for 25m training.

    in Switzerland, an Izhmash Saiga MK-03 (AK-103) costs CHF 1,200, while an SDM AK 103 S costs CHF 685. I own 2 Saigas and I genuinely wonder if the SDM guns are in some way lacking to justify that much of a price difference.

    • @greyman1987
      @greyman1987  2 роки тому +3

      In Croatia surprisingly the price difference as big as in Switzerland but its still there. I think the price will be show in the long run as I believe that Saiga uses better materials, but for now I am happy with mine.

    Excellent video covering my favorite variant in the 104. I’d love to get my hands on one and experience it. I reallly like the way you have yours setup. How does the trigger on that SDM AK104 compare to a early Polytech AKS?

    Dude, that rifle is so weird yet cool at the same time. I'm out here in the US and we can't get Chinese made firearms anymore. It's still cool to see some of the stuff they make now. When I was watching the video at the start i was saying to myself, "Why does that have Chinese pattern parts on it?" Sure enough, its a Chinese made ak. Seriously really cool seeing that firearm. Are you going to make more videos in regard to those kinds of clone firearms out of china?

      From the looks of it it looks like the SDM AK47 is made to look like an AKM - still has Type56 features tho. • @greyman1987

      You have to unscrew the rail. I did it when I got it but have since put blue locktite to secure it. Sure you can put a reddot in the handguard. I prefer to mount it near the center of the weapon to keep the weight centered since I also got a light and sometimes a peq15.

      @@greyman1987 If you use that DTK2 you don't need the KNS. I'm talking from experience, I have both on my 104s. With the DTK2 I have the KNS completely closed, otherwise the gun won't cycle. I really like the Bulgy linear comps for general work, like the Russian Vector 7.62 DTK I have. It's made of titan, so it's not as heavy as these things usually are. They completely swallow muzzle flash, direct all gasses to the front and even moderate the sound a tiny bit.

      Too much rail that can never be used. You can save weight with a Mlok or keymod style rail and also make the front less bulky for a better grip. But one thing that is really bothersome is the part of the rail in front of the charging handle which makes is hard to use it quickly. That being said its still cool that the rail came on the rifle.

I’m glad yours is working well but AKs are kind of my bread and butter and I can tell you right now that an SDM is indeed inferior to the Russian original. China is still very much capable of producing high quality AK rifles, but the ones they sell commercially don’t fall into that category.

The optics and camera design and red dot design of this weapon is very, very weak and fragile, and for real fields and scenes. The battle will not work. The barrel of the weapon is very short and it will not be useful for battle at a distance of 250 meters.

      7.62x39 suffers an average of 20-80fps loss in the 4" difference in barrel length from 12.3 - 12.5 inch "104" barrel lengths, compared to the 15-16 inch "akm" length. You'd know this if you have done research on the 7.62x39 cartridge. Everything else you said, regarding the optics, is true. That does not look rigid whatsoever and instead brings concern of the optic snagging on the terrain and clothing / gear.
