Hi Gil… great looking bootlegs ! I don’t have any. They don’t show up around here. However back in the day I used to have a bunch of radio broadcasts taped off of the radio. I wish I still had then. They were always played on Saturday and Sunday nights in the 80s to mid 90s. Seriously can’t wait for that new Peter Gabriel album. He dropped another song last night. I read Porcupine Tree is going to record another album. Great stuff Gil ! Have a great 4th of July holiday ! Chez

Hi Chez; I remember the King Biscuit radio show in the 80's and 90's. They played some great concerts on the radio. I've seen some the radio broadcast records in the wild sometimes. They are very cool to score. I haven't heard the new PG song yet. I wish he would just release his new album. I didn't hear the news about PT recording a new album. I know Steven Wilson plans to release a new solo album. That's great PT is going to record too! Thanks so much for communicating Chez. Have a great week!

So glad to come across your album reviews. I have large LPCollection. Lol all in poly sleeves. Huge genesis fan. Started seeing them in early 70’s. Prefer Gabriel and early collins years. Do you ever give a sample listen of a song off any of your bootleg finds? Looking forward to see more of your reviews.

Swelled and Spent is ace. For a truly bad sounding Genesis boot check out ..And Then There was Nurnberg.

    Hei, Gil!
I have to admit that I've never heard or listened to a whole Genesis concert and therefore I'd like to ask you this because you know their stuff very well:
    - Are the live versions of the songs played exactly the same way as they appear on the studio albums?
    - Are the any improvisation parts or extra non-album music added anywhere?
The point that I'm after is if the studio and live versions are practically the same then what's the point?
I really should start to listen to Genesis. After all I have all of their albums (on those CD/DVD/SACD box sets plus thejr 1st album).
On more thing. If a release has a radio broadcast on it, I call it "a semi-bootleg". After all it's not an "honest" audience or soundboard recording.
Nice set of bootlegs you got there,
    Jarkko/MyVinylBar

I've always thought Genesis sounded better live than on the studio albums. And they sound very good in the studio. Some live versions of their songs have longer solos or instrumental sections. They mostly stay true to the album version, but they sound so good live. It's definitely worth checking out if you enjoy their music. Maybe start with the official live albums like Seconds Out or 3 Sides Live. Hope you like what you hear. Thanks for watching Jarkko!
