  • Roland Wiley's Cathedral Canyon in Pahrump, Nv. then and now. All that remains is a headless, bullet riddled statue of Christ and the Sermon On The Mount painting on the wall. A tribute to Wiley and his dream. Wiley created the dream, left it to us and it was stolen from us by thieves.

Thank you for caring to preserve Willys vision. I used to go there in the late 80s so magical to take someone there and turn on the lights and music at night . Gone but never forgotten

So sad. I worked in shows in vegas back in the day. After the cast used to go there for peace, quiet and spiritual sustenance We would go in the middle of the night.turn on the lights and music sit on the suspension bridge and take it all in. It was so beautiful and peaceful. Then in the 1990s when Vegas was growing in such a hurried rate. A lot of gangs from LA started coming in to town, and slowly started to deface and destroy this pretty place. It became too dangerous to come at night. Thank you for this film. it is such a mixture of joy and devastation.... no words can express when I view it. I am so glad I witnessed it while it was whole

I'm very happy to see that this video brought you back to the day when the canyon was alive and Wiley's dream as well. All the time I was filming and taking stills the mixed emotions in me were so strong. On the one hand the video is a celebration of Roland Wiley and what he did so selfishly for people. On the other hand the destruction of his dream is so sad. When anyone asks me about the video I tell them that it is a very sad story. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and it is a pleasure to hear from one who knew and visited the canyon when it was in it's hey day.

Visiting there in the 1970s, you had the feeling you were entering Sacred Ground. There was a fascination around every corner, crossing bridges to Wiley's love of the Desert. What a shame seeing it today, it's So Sad. There's no respect for the Dreams, and hard work of a Man who wanted to Give to the people a Solemn Place. Thank you for the Photos.

Thank you so much for creating this. Watched the Sunrise from that bridge as a teenager Growing Up in Vegas many a night. I was there in the 90s. It was a place of Solace during some very tough years . This place will always be a holy place.

I am so glad that you enjoyed it! So many mixed emotions as I researched and filmed this. You are one of the lucky ones who had the chance to experience Wiley's dream.

I've lived in Pahrump for over 16 years and went to the canyon for the first time. It must have been a beautiful sight at one time. Why do people have to destroy beauty? It doesn't matter how hot it might get in the summer. It was a lovely place to visit today. Very sad what has been done to it.

We had the opportunity to go there and it is totally destroyed and see this video just made me drop my jaw. How could something so beautiful be destroyed and violated.

One day this country will look around and see it has lost it's way. Probably when it's too late.

Hello Wonder Hussy! This was my first intro to one of your videos and I thoroughly enjoyed it although it saddened me to hear of and see all the damage. I am a Christian but as you claim to be an an atheist, I truly admire your spirit and your acceptance of all people, something "fellow Christians" and even myself at times could take lessons from. What a bright, joyful spirit you are. Keep up the good work.

If the canyon was ransacked by thieves, that is a shame. In the final analysis, idols have nothing to do with God nor does idolatry. Perhaps it's a better thing that the canyon is back to its natural state.
