A dark but also comedic adventure of pain, betrayel and revenge, but ultimately, sacrifice, redemption and forgiveness. I mean, you managed to make Buddy so darn likeable in this. She shows a great deal of emotion, and her intentions look more like determination to take down the war lords, with a childish sense of wanting to rule everyrhing. And her eventually forgiving Brad for his actions, and giving humanity another chance seem more genuine, since she shows more emotion. You made her more than an emotionless killer like in the game.

I only got to play LISA The Painful in its entirety, and could not bear The Joyful. I knew what fate awaited Bernard, I knew what two fates awaited Buddy, I knew what fate awaited Dusty. And, also, the sheer amount of horrible stuff I heard in the summary (too scared to actually watch the video, ha ha) made me absolutely horrified of what would be on the screen. You managed to help me finally get a complete grasp on what happened, who's who, and- Dear Goodness, I can't remember what were Mutated!Brad's eyes like in the game (again, too scared to watch), but the way they're tilted upwards a bit, the way he looks so miserable- And then Dusty visibly trying to calm Buddy down and help her, but also his face (if I'm not mistaken) on Yado's "throne"- And Bernard waking up from a horrifying nightmare, and weeping before mutating- This got me right in the feelsies.
Am going to be honest never played any of the lisa games but the story itself just makes me depressed and never in my life has a games story itself made me cry and thats what makes the lisa games so special in my eyes.
Yes, you should play then, they are pretty good, Gameplay, music and world are in harmony, and as you already know, the story is a rollercoaster full of feelings

The best RPG of all time. I'm not even kidding. In quite a few ways, I even find it better than the likes of something like Final Fantasy and such. It has such a great story, great humor, and yet a great dark atmosphere.
So many incredible beat-to-animatic syncs in this but in particular Brad cycling through his different stages in Buddy’s life to the increased drumbeat is SO choice
I always imagined the Berny fight ending with Buzzo killing himself. He has a move where he bites himself for a ton of damage, and his death sprite shows his head nearly removed from his neck. since his neck is so long, I always imaged him screaming and just tearing his own throat out with his teeth. A brutal and emotional end for a brutal and emotional wreck.

Part of it was the joy making her extremely unempathetic and aggressive.
