this is what Tim Burton should have done...a movie remake of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory starring Primus (in stop motion to make it creepy enough)
Les playing Wonka and Grandpa Joe.
Larry plays himself but replacing the role of Charlie.
Herb plays the oompa loompas.
If I were a billionaire I'd make it happen by next year. I'd pay the boys and Burton an insane amount of money. It would be legit and a trip for sure.
I'd use your stop motion idea. It would be the creme de la creme of it all.
@@bass2thefacepure confectionery perfectionary.
Speaking of stop motion, Candy man go burrrr
You have to give Primus credit: this album does feel like a bit of a departure from their usual storytelling norm, but it kinda works. For me, listening to this and Candyman brings back that weird feeling that you get when you reach a particularly odd place in a claymation film as a kid. You know the feeling: disturbing yet more intriguing than anything else. That's what I believe they were going for with this album, and they nailed it.
"Why am I still looking at this car wreck?"
That feeling you get watching any and every episode of Gumby? Haha
maggotmusic757 yep.
Only Primus can make watching candy being made feel like a creepy 70's horror movie!
Yep
Please primus why
jlsinner99 amazing bass plus drugs equals primus
It does say there’s a fungi ensemble hehe

Having worked in a traditionnel family-owned chocolate factory and loved the sound of Primus, this clip is to die for...
Never thought a video about making chocolate could rustle my jimmies.
Rustle my jimmies ;)
I listened to this on psychedelics and it took me to a Tim burton nightmare before x mas carnival. So awesome.
Now everytime I open a chocolate bar Primus blasts out of it.
I love when the bass and beat starts at 0:34 with the machine turning.
sounds like primus is really finally turning into the residents........
This is a complete and utter bastardization of such a pure and innocent timeless film soundtrack.
And it’s fucking glorious...
Hell yeah Brobi-Wan
The quote to Ennio Morricone's soundtrack of "the working class goes to heaven" is clear and very special
I don't know how but this reimagined soundtrack fits so well. Been listening to it the last few days and today and it really sounds like a you've taken acid without the acid.
yes indeed, had to stop listening, too many flashbacks......
Obese pope that’s probably how they made it, high on acid
Obese pope I hate to be driving a bus right now 😳 woo ohh
I listened to this on psychedelics and it took me to a Tim burton nightmare before x mas carnival with jesters and clowns.
Being near the same age, born mid 60s, I have a suspicion this film, original release date was right in the middle of the summer of 1971, had a similar impact on these guys as it did me. It was the first film my folks let me walk to the theater with my older girlfriend at the time. We'd sit and watch 2-3 showings every day we were allowed. Humongous influence throughout my life. More than a film at the time, especially the trippy tunnel scene and little shots throughout. And knowing I was a suburbs kid who happened to have a shopping mall next door to my subdivision. I wonder 4if they were in the city or somewhere where they had a similar experience that July and August of 1971. Certain there's probably a story written in Rolling Stone or something, but I've always thought of those publications as fiction with a splash of truth. Much like the National Enquirer type rag. Musicians notoriously lie just to see if these fools will print what they say. I know I would.
Peace Love and great smoke for all ✌️🤟💨💨💨
This almost sounds like a horror movie about chocolate. Like the candy maker is a homicidal killer that is putting poisonous mushrooms and razorblades in with the chocolate. And you can see his crazy bloodshot eyes as he mixes it and laughs maniacally. Really creepy. Very interesting. Disturbing. I did not even know Primus made this craziness.
There is a fan theory that Willy Wonka was actually a child murder.
+Dalton Morgan Hey thanks! I found a website that did the breakdown for that theory. I was not a fan of the movie when I watched it the first time, now I absolutely have to watch it again! Very creepy theory. Could it be an Illuminutty coincidence? I really do need to see Primus. I will have to check for tour dates.
+broken angel No probs
+Dalton Morgan Dang all their dates were last month. Missed them this round.
+broken angel That sux.
Wearing headphones makes it sound like Willy Wonka's creepily talking into my ear...
(Starts massaging your shoulders in a very unsettling manner) "Want to suck on me everlasting gobstopper?" - Willy Wonka
The almost visceral reaction I had to the way this song made me feel at first was shocking. Very much a talented man les claypool. Love your work.
i love the primus moments where the residents really shine through
I used to think les claypool was a member of the residents, lulz. Love them
I showed my old roommate this video during a trip with Lucy. Blew his mind lol "I didn't think candy could be so trippy" 😂
I have soiled my pantaloons
i got diabetes just from watching lol jk i waa already diabetic
O my
weird flex but okay
waa
🤣
🤣
forever your fan!!!!!!!!! Primus will always be great thank you for all the great music less claypool you are creative geinus
Everyone can we have a momment of silence for Gene Wilder. He was a good man playing the roles of The Waco Kid, and of course Willy Wonka
This gives me a good sense of nostalgia
I loooooooove this bass to it!
Going to see Primus in November!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have never seen them live and I can't wait! Been listening to them since I was a child (explains a lot, thanks parentals). AHHHHHHHH! I really can't hide my excitement! I love you Les. And yes, my husband knows.
.... im in it for the bass
I never knew this was missing in my life
Well done, Primus!!! Now we all know what anxiety looks like.
When Pure imagination and this is halloween fuse.
Almost fell asleep at the wheel one night because of this song.
Born mid 60s, similar to these guys, I imagine this fim originally released, End June 1971, was as big an influence on them as myself. It was the first film my folks let me walk to the mall next to my subdivision with my much older next door girlfriend, who I'm still friends with to this day. We'd sit through 2-3 showings whenever we could scratch together 2 quarters a piece that July and August before school started. A million times more influential than any film in my life, next to maybe my intro to stop motion, which was such an influence all I wanted to do in college was learn how to make those films. Took a dozen ceramics classes thinking that must be how they made their models. So I would love to know if they were influenced by this film that summer as well. The tunnel and some of the other stuff blew me away.
I wanna see a remake of the movie but with all songs replaced by the Primus covers and with a fitting atmosphere too.
I saw this tour when they stopped for a sold-out show at The Hershey Theater - right across Chocolate Avenue from HersheyPark, in Hershey, PA. You couldn't ask for a better venue for a psychotropic take on Wonka!
I think Les should direct a new remake, starring les clay pool as Willy Wonka. With this as the soundtrack I think he could make a masterpiece. I'm sorry Tim burton has lost his edge, and in my opinion Big Fish was his last good movie. He fucking massacres Charlie and the chocolate factory. I would love to see primus interpretation of the book. Come on les make the movie, or Atleast make the sequel Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator! Please!
That would be fucking awesome.
You do realize Tim Burton's version is actually the way that story is supposed to be told? Tim Burton's is actually the ORIGINAL Willy Wonka/Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. The book was actually weird and creepy just like that movie. I thought it was really good.
Daniel Clark Charlie and the chocolate factory is terrible. On the other hand, Willy Wonka is one of the best movies.
If this happened I would make everyone I know watch it, even if they don’t like/know primus
ringtone material right here...
people who disliked have no imagination.
Primus - Lyrics + More Trippy Synths = 70s/80s Doctor Who Soundtrack
I truly believe Les was one of the early Residents members...
The music video makes me hungry for candy and more Primus!
Saw them in Boston! Let me tell you... Long in the tooth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This bass riff is how I explain my warlock in D&D.
We the Litch
I have a very deep thought on this video and why they chose to arrange it this way. The original is more elegant, still has those eerie themes, but elegant. I have an entire theory on that but ill never share that on here cuz I'm an insane conspire-er. I believe that they arranged it in this way because; we always view candy making as a "magical" and love-filled process. But in all actuality, it isn't. It's an automated process. But all commercials for candy and such, display a chef hand-making a nice truffle, or strawberry candy. I believe that they wanted to show that in the writing of this arrangement. Either that or they just wanted to do this song in the Primus style.
THIS IS SO CREEPY I LOVE IT
somehow one of my favorite childhood memories was made disturbing
Isn’t that film disturbing as it is?
EEEYYUUMMMMMmmmayy!
Tried listening to this album while watching the movie to see if it would sync up in a meaningful way. Didn't really, still, a nice, odd experience.
Love it!
RIP Mr. Gene
rip
Realy one of Primus´ finest!
I need to trip to this
Done and Done
Trippy
Spine chilling delicious
It's a bad acid trip
Great psilocybin video since it came out.
I secretly hope the Timothee chalamet wonka prequel uses the primus soundtrack
Pure madness.
Chocolate with an industrial twist!
This reminds me of Charles Mingus' album Weird Nightmare. And of course, Gene Wilder is a genius whereas Depp is an actor.
God damn it, now I'm hungry!
Trying to figure out what some of these candies are, some of them I don't recognize
Come with me and you’ll be in a room that you can not flee
This vid makes me feel like i ate some really bad acid
sucarcoating roflmao primus u are bloody great
The chocolate is invading. The slow march of diabetes will overtake us in the end.
This video is a sugar induced fever dream
How much frosting on the cake sir?
3:52
.woow
what pedal is he using
I think that is soylent green they are mixing up...
When chocolate being made is eerier than a Holocaust museum.
I'm never eating chocolate again!!
Gene wilder eat your heart out! Tim burton should have used this song for the remake
need to play this backwards lmao
I want chocolate!!!!
I feel uncomfortable, but I like it
Can somebody do a guitar cover?
Sooo... what is the hypo-psyco diagnosis for confectionery obsession disorder?
Interesting
Oh this would work like gangbusters as a reveal for a drug factory. Characters stumble into it and aren't sure what they're looking at. The realize they are in SUPER FUCKING DANGER for even knowing about the place and need to get the fuck out now.
Marilyn Manson was the best Willy wonka
Uuuuuummmm🤐
Is this what MK Ultra feels like?
this video gives me type 2 diabetes
Tim Alexander was pretty under utilized in this album.
Producer: "All right, Mr. Claypool, you said you wanted to do a cover of song "Pure Imagination," from the movie "Willie Wonka And The Chocolate Factory," you said you wanted to make it WIERD, so much so, it's uncomfortable and borderline dark and psychotic, how weird should it be, and how uncomfortable do you want people to be when they hear it?"
Les Claypool: "Yes."
Whacked as shit! Love it!
Chocolate pretzel Sir?
all ive gotta say is Jeffery Dhamer worked in a chocolate factory and hated chocolate.
All the chocolate in this video made me nauseous. No need to buy candy anymore :)
I'm good without chocolate for the next few months
This video is bad for me... Now I want chocolate :)
and I just quite refined sugar.
Meh. Im sort of disappointed with this "primus" album.
Frizzle Fry, mmmmm.
The best record by far!
Django Lowe not a chance
Django Lowe you cant be serious!! This Primus we are talking about, not the Extra Action Marching Band, or Barnum and Bailey or something!
This should have been the Imagination Song in South Park
I'm scared
Better than Burton.
:-)
Sounds like korn
Korn wishes
Pure Decadence!
this show was awesome but then primus had to suck
apathetically lethargic but Primus has always sucked
seems devo-ish
Fuck that's creepy
kalackninja ya idk why they need to sing it, im guessing fans of primus like it because of their guitar but i dont think primus should sing lol
