In Darktide, you are indeed among baseline humanity, but you're not with the Imperial Guard/Astra Militarum, you are criminals sentenced to fight in penal legions and likely to die. Only when the player's trust level is at max when the player, whether they be a psyker lucky to not become a sacrifice to the Emperor, a veteran of guard battles' past, particularly zealous nutcase that the Arbites aren't interested in dealing with for your insanity, or just an Ogryn tossed to the side for whatever reason, you get to become one of the Warband.
Still you start above the average. Like guardsman is veteran marksman which means he was like elite among IG. And ogryn... is ogryn. And psyker is psyker.
Umm, if you play both games, the guys in Darktide are unreasonably OP.. the monster's don't respect the lore either. Back when I had it with game pass, it was a mess which made no sense lore-wise. It's pretty humbling how most of the bosses in Darktide are enemies that Space Marines would brush off with minimal effort, and the Rejects are considered VERY resilient for humies (granted they also have Ogryns and Psykers, which might be the key for dealing with bigger threats)
Lore wise... if a space marine doesnt have a psy- damper implant or a particularly powerful soul, a psyker just has to focus, snap with his finger and head goes pop. Brain is brain, flesh is flesh and the flesh is weak, especialy when an explosion spontaniously manifests in the middle of it. And the ogryns? Are stronger then unarmoured space marines, though Ogryn strenght is much more unfocused, rendering it much less effective and even more inefficient. Gameplay wise however... 50 brain burst for this random traitor captain. And a hundred ripper canon shots to da face.
Not really...Im pretty sure beasts of nurgle & daemon hosts in this game are much stronger than space marines, it's just that for gameplay purposes, they're weaker, but a daemon host or beast of nurgle could defeat a squad of space marines
Honestly, most bosses wouldn't be a problem if they also didn't come with refractor fields. Even most space marines don't have those or a way to counter them particularly effectively outside of 'hit it really hard'. The minibosses are chewed through with similar efficiency if you have a full team good at the game, even on Damnation. Its actually how i got the 'kill a monstrosity in 5 seconds' achievement. 4 veterans with the brittleness blessing on a boltgun literally shredded it down after spamming krak grenades.
@@themelon_1785 Warp shenanigans. You get daemonhosts in many different tier levels. @@easypeasygamers6885 needless to say, like anakin skywalker, i am a slow learner. Also, darktide is, at the gentle age of 25, the first ever shooter ive played in my time on this earth. Growing up in a conservative household where video games were seen as a waste of time does that to you. So i had to learn this entire thing from the ground up like the 8 year old who picked up his brothers shooter game for the first time. Also, ive started with all 4 classes simultaneously, playing each class an equal amount of time. That also slows overall skill progression

The happy ending is knowing that any surviving characters or outcomes they strove for will be rendered either dead or pointless 2 to 3 books later. Welcome to the grim dark.

Thus, shall you spread his virulent gifts across the false empirium, and witness it's final rotting." -Mortarian, Daemon Primarch of Nurgle

I heard its a "author vs industry" Meta take on "diverting expectation", - that he deliberately stopped writing and didn't push for more control over Game of thrones TV series, so that when the TV show ending flopped and he never released another book it could all have been one giant "diversion of expectations".. and he would never have to deliver a satisfactory conclusion to rival all the fan theories and complex plot lines and hints he has planted and left unresolved over the years...

If you need great lines to yell at your friends when playing Space Marine 2 or Darktide look no further than Dawn of War 1 & 2 (thb I don't know about 3 didn't really played it) My favorites include: Your friends idle around? "Don't linger, guardsman!" Enemies attack? "Show me what counts as furry by your misbegotten kind!" or "Hammer of the Emperor, attack" for a counter charge.
My favorite lines were definitely “WITNESS YOUR DOOM” “SHOW ME WHAT PASSES AS FURY AMONGST YOUR MISBEGOTTEN KIND” “DESTROY THEM” “Deep Striking” “FORWARD YOU DOGS, TO VICTORY” “GLORY TO THE FIRST MAN TO DIE” “THE ENEMY WISHES TO FIGHT BROTHER” “DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?” “THIS ERRAND IS BENEATH ME” “Ah, a challenge worthy of my skill” “If you will not serve in combat, then you will serve on the firing line” “Very well, but use me wisely”

"No Space Marines here, instead they're sending in four crackheads." And that right there is why I love Darktide. That and the combat feels really good and all the classes are great and have many good builds possible.
To me SM2 has more content (and an actual campaign ofc) while Darktide does everything else better. Weapon feel, combat, music, scenery, atmosphere, game loop, you name it. I hope in a couple more years the content will come xD
Space Marine 2 needs a moment or two when you see the darktide crew slashing through a bunch of terminids in the distance. And if the emperor ever met that ogryn, you bet they would be vibing on whats next to claim for the imperium.
A big difference in enemies in Darktide and Space Marines 2, is the main foes you fight for your life in Darktide literally explode by running into them in Space Marine 2

I'm in an awkward spot where I can play Damnation consistently but my friends still frequently fail Heresy but the game is both more fun with friends but more boring because it's kind of going through the motions.
@@sirgaz8699 you might wanna consider only playing heresy with the shock troop gauntlet or high intensity modifiers. That will challenge your skilllevel and force your friends to grow and improve.

“An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded”
The soundtrack for Darktide unironically slaps hard.
I haven’t been this psyched up by a game soundtrack since Doom Eternal
Played this game on Xbox the day it released, and I enjoyed the game and made some great builds. My Veteran is Billy Butcher from the Boys, Psyker is The Great Cornholio from Beavis and Butt-head, Ogryn is Chad Stalin, Zealot is Chairman Mao, and 2nd Veteran is Adolf (you know who).
Zanny cooked so hard that Inquisitor Ramsay gonna give this vid a michelin star

As you said funny guy to the ogryns: the name of an ogryn is normally only on sillable long, so they don't forget it
16:08 oh no there are more than just 40 its closer to 64 books for the horus heresy
damn that guy loved to rebell
@@kovacsbenjamin7960I mean they did name him Horus Heresy for a reason
Darktide has been my favorite game for a year or so now, but it's actually amazing to see it giving the love it deserves and subsequently the updates it needs.
0:01 that’s one way to start a conversation
you forgot to mention that the soundtrack of this game is actually very good, especially during the horde combats where the electronic music hits hard
This is my favorite Zanny title ever. Please don't change it later or I'll be big mad 😡
I won't 🙏
Poison the phage tree? Ah, most be filling it with soap, or hand sanitizer.
"Unguant of Shriving" which I think is High Gothic for "bleach".
The weapon feel and sound in this game is IMMACULATE
The loading screen quotes go unfathomably hard. I printed off a bunch and read them whenever I play helldivers, deep rock, or space marine 2.
I listened to somewhat around 30 horus heresy audio books in the last year and I can confirm, sometimes you just want a happy end but you'll never get one.
The happy ending is knowing that any surviving characters or outcomes they strove for will be rendered either dead or pointless 2 to 3 books later. Welcome to the grim dark.
It makes me so happy to see you enjoying this game, Zanman.
Now, some words for Grandfather Nurgle.
"Forgive no insult, my sons. As I have never forgotten those of my father, the Emperor, nor those of Horus. Forgive no slight or grievance. Hold your bitterness deep within, and there, let it fester. Let it roil and squirm and churn, until you are filled with bile so poisonous that all you touch falls to ruin. Thus, shall you serve Nurgle best. Thus, shall you spread his virulent gifts across the false empirium, and witness it's final rotting."
-Mortarian, Daemon Primarch of Nurgle
5:38 OH HELL NAH you didn't have to do my beloved 🐐 2008 Antony like that 😭😭😭
Love how most Dark Tide videos use “Disposal Unit” from the OST. Banger track.
“Guardsman, where is Brother Prematurius?”
“He emptied his bolter too soon. We stand alone.”
You're the reason why I'm playing DRG and Darktide. Thanks, ZanMan.
Always fun watching people play DT for the first time. Great video
it's not my first time I've been playing for like a year 😂
Glad you figured out pox burster pushing. Super annoying when people shoot them as you're walking up to them to shove them back and they end up bursting all over you.
I love that you made another video for this underrated gem
the mission briefings where hadron constantly calls you 'varlets' and says 'point the magic box at green things', and the overly cheerful dropship pilot
Bro the lack of postgame stat screen is the biggest mistake since Horus got cranky that one time.
Probably the most underrated game on the market right now, it's insane how under the radar it has gone, both gameplay and visuals is S-tier
Cant wait for this guy to hear about vermintide yes-yes
"YOU HAD NURGLE BLESS YOUR FOOD!" was the funniest thing I've heard today, by the Primarch
Bro got obsessed with Warhammer like Henry Cavill
Nah I think Henry’s not really that obsessed he’s just a 40k fan
There's a running theory that Martin actually found the manuscripts for the books in a house he bought in the 70s and has been slowly releasing them over the years but has now run out of material and is just stalling til he dies.
@@gawkthimm6030 Ah, so a 'let the audience write it for you' tactic. I use this as a DM for my D&D games and it has done wonders for in the moment storytelling.
@@SpaceMuffin-el5pg possibly, but I took it more like; when the story was picked up for TV he already knew how hollywood worked with regards to any book authors control so he didnt really believe they could do his ideas justice (and feared he couldnt do it eaither), so he never really intended to finish writing anything conclusive that could ever possibly have lived up to the expectations as the popularity of his dark political fantasy book story grew in popularity, so he wanted to make his song-of-ice-and-fire book novel series the greatest "diversion of expectation" ever. "proving to the entertainment industry" -that any readers imagination is better than anything hollywood could make, and that clinging to genre and story tropes is not what audiences wants, while also trolling the academic literary world and the ideas that authors owes anything to their readers and that para-social relationships between authors and fans is not important, meaningful or real.
The GRRM impression at the end is spot on. We are probably never getting an end to their series. If we are lucky we will get one more book

@@doschkar_ honestly at this point we’d be lucky for another Tale of Dunk and Egg short story let alone Winds of Winter
Thanks lol 😂
Love the intro. "For us we're playing a whole different game" Shows gameplay of a different game. I just liked how it worked out metaphorically and literally lol.
If you need great lines to yell at your friends when playing Space Marine 2 or Darktide look no further than Dawn of War 1 & 2 (thb I don't know about 3 didn't really played it)
My favorites include:
Your friends idle around?
"Don't linger, guardsman!"
Enemies attack?
"Show me what counts as furry by your misbegotten kind!"
or
"Hammer of the Emperor, attack" for a counter charge.
“Brother I’m pinned here!!!”😂
My favorite lines were definitely
“WITNESS YOUR DOOM”
“SHOW ME WHAT PASSES AS FURY AMONGST YOUR MISBEGOTTEN KIND”
“DESTROY THEM”
“Deep Striking”
“FORWARD YOU DOGS, TO VICTORY”
“GLORY TO THE FIRST MAN TO DIE”
“THE ENEMY WISHES TO FIGHT BROTHER”
“DO YOU HEAR THE VOICES TOO?”
“THIS ERRAND IS BENEATH ME”
“Ah, a challenge worthy of my skill”
“If you will not serve in combat, then you will serve on the firing line”
“Very well, but use me wisely”

Fun fact: the boltgun you use in game is actually the one used by the sisters of battle. If a normal person were to use a bolter, their arms would be torn off their body from the recoil
i like my my heretics moldy bruh
Darktide is one of my most favorite games, thanks for showing why its so fun!
From one extreme of the Imperium to another, two sides of the same coin
Naming my ogryn "Bruh" has led to some of the funniest interactions. Some BS happens and a player just expresses "bruh" into chat because they are downed for some reason and i just whiplash them with a "yes?". It catches them off guard so many times.
19:22 The cia when they visit a poverty stricken community.

0:49 Ay, it's bardin :D
"No Space Marines here, instead they're sending in four crackheads." And that right there is why I love Darktide.
That and the combat feels really good and all the classes are great and have many good builds possible.

Nurgle + Lunchly = 😂😂😂
Well guess what the most downloaded mod is on Nexus for Darktide, yes it is a fcking scorescreen mod
Darktide is great, glad you keep playing it Zanny!
As of right now Darktide is a lot better then Space Marine 2. More fun combat and gameplay, better class design and skill trees and better music.
Spaghetti bolognese
To me SM2 has more content (and an actual campaign ofc) while Darktide does everything else better. Weapon feel, combat, music, scenery, atmosphere, game loop, you name it. I hope in a couple more years the content will come xD
Space Marine 2 needs a moment or two when you see the darktide crew slashing through a bunch of terminids in the distance.
And if the emperor ever met that ogryn, you bet they would be vibing on whats next to claim for the imperium.
