What a darling house and gardens. Definitely paint the front door white. But the eye catcher on this house is that little floral colored trim above the windows. It makes the house so special and was absolutely the first thing that caught my eye. Please don't paint it white - it will disappear and it is so special. Could you paint it a different color than burgundy to get your change - the green of your shutters or the blue of your fence? But it is really what gives the house distinction. Love your color palette - my house is colonial but the exact same colors! Thank you for sharing your lovely home Sheryl. Would love to see the interior some time!

I agree painting the door white will make it appear larger, and that will look nice. I wouldn't paint the window eyebrows all white; you'd lose the detail, which is so pretty. I think you could leave them as they are, or paint the detail green to match the shutters. Beautiful house and gardens! Thank you so much for sharing here.

What a lovely garden! I believe the yellow flower that can become very tall is a false sunflower. I have them and cut them back heavily mid season.

Ok, let’s see, the house is a butter yellow, the shutters are green, the eyebrow trim in lavender and the garden fence is blue, lots of colors. I would paint the eyebrows the same color of the shutters, green.

I love that giant hosta in the front!! I need one of those. The blue fence is adorable and the garden is magazine worthy! I like the contrast of the detail pieces over the window but up close I can see that the all white does show up. Maybe paint them green. The all white door will look great like your all black one does. I think doing your area to the right of your screened porch similar to this would look amazing!

What a lovely garden. The plant with the small magenta flowers is a Rose Campion. I have 3 in my garden; I didn't plant them, they decided to live in my front garden! I also have a Hosta that goes to at least 6 feet wide and about 5 feet across! BTW i think the front door should be green like the shutters.

Oh Kim you mother in laws home is Absolutely Gorgeous. Her garden is just Breathtaking. I Love everything about it. Cheryl I love the design of it. It is so Beautiful when you first enter it you just say WOW how Beautiful. That little garden should be in a magazine. I love her herb garden and those edible flowers are just Beautiful. I could see them on my plate at a Tearoom. Kim you have a sweet mother in law. Cheryl thank you for letting us visit you for awhile and I enjoyed every minute of it. The silvery flower with pink blooms is rose campion. I had a volunteer one come up for a few summers, but didn’t return the third season although I have read they can be invasive. Can you ask you mother in law where she purchased it please? The flower that sorta looks like a black eyed Susan I believe is a Maximilian sunflower. I love Hooks greenhouse! I love the walking stick that you bought. The branches are awesome to hang lights on at Christmas,& awesome for fall decor. I’m definitely going to watch the documentary on Midnight in the garden of good and evil. And awesome idea for hangers on the fence!

Kim your Mother in law’s home and gardens are beautiful . I love the garden in the fence. Tell her weeding is never done. You’ve seen my weeds before. 😁 The Harry Lauder’s walking stick is also called Corkscrew willow or contorted filbert. I had one for probably 30 years and finally had to take it out. Give it plenty of room when you plant it because it will get huge. It’s a wonderful, interesting plant to have. I loved the tour. Love and blessings 🌼🌺🌸

I suggest a brighter red, not the dark red. The trim eyebrows filigree part, hunter green or gold. Or the bright red.
We have an old farmhouse in Indiana. Our kitchen had two doors. My MIL called it the service door for delivery and such.
Black outer door, shutters, eyebrows. White inner door.
