I have one of those I bought back in the early 90’s. I still use it to this day. It makes a squealing noise sometimes so I just ordered a new one. I hope they are built as good as they were 30 years ago.
Can’t beat them and they’re longevity
I been using the 2000,2500 and the 4000 year round. I started to use them for stealhead fishing I use a 10 foot noodle rod and they work very good together. The reals are about 20 years old and still going strong

Lol I accidentally made the same combo but with a 1000 shimano reel tho I do a lot of salt water fishing I can’t tell you number of times I been smoked by really big fish but it’s so fun

Why did they get rod of the fighting drag like on the Aero?? my favorite reel. Ive had for over 30 years. Trying to find spares but no luck.
Don’t know I prefer it as well. Trying to make them more compact looking maybe??? IDK
