Thank you so much for making this video! We have 140 Samsung mini splits at our resort and we have struggled with learning how to troubleshoot them. I purchased the new book that you recently published as well so I’m starting to feel more confident with troubleshooting. Thank you for all you do 😊
This guy is the best on YT. Thx to his videos I learned how to install a mini split, fix my other AC, repair my car AC & even fix my refrigerator. It takes time to learn this and each time I complete something I take lots of notes and pictures so I remember what I did the next time something breaks.
Found this while looking for a dissected cartridge thermistor on a 3D printer. Couldn't find anything until your video! Thank you for showing what was inside!
Most commonly used thermistor is 10k ohms at 25 degs C and temp coefficient beta of ntc 3950, also known as type 2 thermistor. Good idea to check thermistors, they do not have great reliability. Mini-splits can have up to four or five of them.
You should produce a video on the ill effects of exceeding mfr. tubing length distances . Some may encounter such in light commercial applications as I have .
Very good explanation and thank you. Five thermistors in the split system exist, ok, but could you explain what each thermistor do? what tube thermistor in indoor unit do and what do bead thermistor.???
That would likely be impossible as what is used is an engineering choice. Likely most will be 10k thermistors as the chart in the video shows (look at the resistance at 25C or 77F) for the range, but it might be a different "type" which has a different response profile or accuracy. But 10k Type 2 seems to be the most common for middle temps. 5k seems common for freezers so the resistance change a low temp is has enough range to be easily monitored. The TP is likely a 100k since that gives a decent range at higher temps.
have an lg inverter V which gives error codes such as ch32 also red diode flashes. have now ordered a temp sensor but don't know if that is the problem, also the fan in the outer part is standing still. My question is if you can help me so I don't have to buy a new one.
Hi, I have an old LG 12kbtu mini split system, got the led blinking error indicating thermistor of indoor unit is damaged. Can't find this part OEM, is it a good idea to just buy a generic one and solder the cable to the OEM connector? Any thoughts on this?
please if the room has reached its desired temperature set by the remote control and the AC compresor doesn't shut off, which of these sensor is the culprit?
Hi Will anyone know where the sensor be located on a ducted air conditioning? I have a code in regards to evap sensor and would like to located and test it.
I have a Eco-Breeze KFR-35W/GX1b with no fault codes. Been working about 10 years. Fans all spin up. One day it just stopped blowing cold air or hot air in heat mode. Checked the high and low copper tubes and they are at ambient temperature. Doesn't appear that the compressor is doing anything. Given that I have no fault codes, what are the first things I should check? I have manifold kit, multimeter, and installed it myself years ago. So not afraid to figure things out.
I can't seem to find a thermistor for my GE window unit aew24dth1 .. I guess it wants me to get the whole control board? Is this normal or is there some other way to buy these parts? My thermistor is working, but it's out of spec and won't go below 72 degrees, no matter what.. So then the unit never shuts off and it will just continue to run until it ices over. I can't find one online
You don't necessarily have to put in ice water but it would be the most accurate test, when calibrating or checking accuracy of all test equipment really, unless of course the instrument can't get wet
My fridgiare ac unit has a code A5 which they told me its the thermostat sensor but not to sure which on exactly. The unit works i just cant adjust the digital temperature it just stays on. Can some one help me on this
Please what's the role of room temperature sensor? My ac compressor only cycles on and off when temperature is set at 25 -30 degree Celsius but if the temperature is set between 18-24 degree Celsius, compressor continues to run even when the set temperature is reached . I want to know the sensor that's malfunctioning. @RajonRabidash so what's the role of room temperature sensor? Always a good value in every video, thanks Craig
Thanks so much

Great info as always. Thank you, Craig.
Well explained. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video to supplement the book
Got the e-book ❤ some very useful information for a new tech, thank you 🙏
Glad you like it!
I learned a lot, thank you!
Good video Craig, Thank you
Such a great video. Easy to understand. Keep up the good work my man.
Hey Craig do you mind doing a video on how to make one of those test transformers you used in your electrical strip heating diagnosis video?
Thank you very much for doing this video!
Another great video as always .
I've always wanted this
Wonderful tutorial. I'm buying your book.
Awesome and let me know what you think of it after reading!!

Hello sir, your videos are very informative, I request you to make this book and tools available online in India, thank you
What is that metal clip called? at 2:19
Is the resistance on a thermistor polarity sensitive as on a diode?
The epoxy holds the two wires in the tube. Are the 2 wires connected together or do they need to touch the tube?
Good video
Good Info
How much more efficient is this unit with communicating vs 24v thermostat? If its been asked already ill find it in the comments. Thx
Thank you.
Did you happen to compile the different manufacturers charts in your new book?
Thanks.

Where can I buy meter leads that are small enough to fit into the thermistor wire harness? They are tiny

Would very windy conditions make my unit run constantly in heat mode?
Esperando la versión en español del libro
Hi, in indoor we have 3 thermistor, all are 10koms ? Or only room is 10
Whirlpool had us place them in ice water and ohm them out. It's nice we don't have to put them in ice water.

Very useful, how to access E book please reply
Its on google play and apple books, thanks!
77 room temp is equal to 10.00 ohms. But if room is 87 degrees will be 7.72 ohms if 67 room will be 12.72 and on and on.....
Pls where can I get the book!
You can find our books on acservicetech.com!
