"You'll have to go out of your mind to damage the edge" That's the whole idea of the Zombie Tools. the edge is unnecessarily thick because in the name of survival I personally rather have a blade which I can trust my life with that it doesn't break when things get rough.
Just want to say this quick Skall. Thank you for being a reviewer who informs his watchers of products. I got my first sword a few months ago, and it was the very one you review in this video. It's truly at home in my hand, and I couldn't be happier with it. If it had not been for your videos my first sword would probably have been some crap made by cold steel. Thanks for your great content. Always enjoy it.
I like this idea. A warhammer with a full length threaded shaft for a handle. You could then screw dozens of pommels to it all the way up its length. Use interrupted threads so you only needed a half or quarter turn to unscrew and remove each one. You could end a dozen men (or zombies) rightly.
***** Do you simply refuse to give me that? That I just stated that there was actual nature footage in there? I does not exclude the use of a green screen in other parts of the video, you know. Either way, have a nice day.
Hey skall, can you do a video on the 'lifespan' of swords used in the battlefield? I mean how long would swords last before they need replacing (in medieval times)? I know there are many factors that affect this such as how often it was used, what damages it sustained etc, but is there an average 'lifespan' for swords used in the battlefield? (because obviously swords can last practically forever if never used)
i dont know if you question hasnt already been answered but in fact swords would often last longer then their owners even with heavy use. thats also why a sword might have been an expensive object in early medieval times, but became very common later. probably used sword salesman played their role in this. of course it was also dependend on quality. bad quality swords might break etc. and therefor would have to be exchanged however just from use a sword probably almost never got unusable. with rapiers and smallswords breaking edges were pretty common. so often companys like wilkinson would produce only blades and refit your hilt whenever that happend.
God...these "I'm early I should make a joke" comments have become more prevalent and annoying than the actual "The last time I was this early *insert "joke"* " comments.
Sabres do offer some advantage over two handers. lighter, more compact so more convenient to wear and carry. Better hand protection. They use their length more efficiently (ie you get more practical reach per inch of blade), you present a smaller target area to the opponent using one...I would only really favour using a two handed sword if I also got to wear armour. Still, I do have both types because I think it's nice to have a two handed and single handed system under your belt, even if your prefer one over the other.
"I tested the strength of the tip" I'm so sorry Skall. But this sound just like "They're taking the hobbits to Isengard" Love the video Skall! Keep it up!
I still really love my custom ZT Diphos. I went with a satin finish on the blade so I don't have to worry about "weirdness" when resharpening the edge. Thankfully I've not had to resharpen it yet as it holds it's edge very well.
I wish I could get something like that for the woods. Visiting the modern world to get online and enjoy family visits can be such a tease.... Back to sharpened branches for me!
How well would it deal with Killer tomatoes? Everyone is prepared for the Zombie Apocalypse, but nobody talks about the Great Tomato War. Wilber Finletter, hero of the Battle of San Diego could use that.
I've been looking to make my first sword purchase, and I'm looking for something that I can actually use if the need arises. Thanks to you, I believe I've found it. Thank you.
If I can finally find a decent and halfway affordable rental house I can record tons of testing footage. But seeing how ridiculous the housing market in Victoria (BC, not Australia) is and how I've already spent quite a few months without any luck, it's not looking too promising.
petition to include outtakes in more of your videos. makes me lose it every time. On a more serious note though, good review. As a saber guy who's been looking for a new one lately, this was really helpful.
Hey Skallagrim, this question doesn't have much to do with the video, but how likely is someone to break their arm if they defend a warhammer or waraxe with a shield?
Depends on what exactly the situation is, I would think. If you're using a center-grip shield then obviously your arm would be perfectly fine, the impact might just be a little jarring. If the shield is tied to your arm and the blow hit exactly where your arm is, then I'd think it would at the very least really hurt, and at worst break your arm. All depends on the angle and strength of the blow, the kind and strength of your shield, whether either of you know what they're doing (I mean, you're hardly going to want to catch the full force with your arm, deflecting the blow seems much more desireable), etc. Mind you, I'm a random guy on the internet. So yeah, probably all of what I said was 100% correct and fully fact-checked, absolutely none of this is speculation...
***** No, I'm talking about genuine warhammers/axes. They do in fact generate a lot of force, especially a flanged mace, since they are very tip-heavy and all of the force is concentrated on a small area. That a warhammer can easily break someones bones is not in doubt, questions is how much difference does a shield make.
I have been looking at sabers for a while, but this one seems like a winner just because of the knuckle guard. I am often in the habit of lightly punching my sparring partners to break a bind as it is how I would fight in real life. When will I ever get in an actual duel, probably never, but it would be nice to know my sword would allow me to fight as I train.
There work is Impeccable. I own apokatana and now I ordered the diphos. Beautifully Deadly the lot of them. Bad days are coming get prepared to defend yourself. the bullets will run out. A epidemic is coming! Thanks for making the videos bro.

I winced at 5:43 watching you pump the tip while it was stuck in wood. I'd prefer the same blade, longer tang and two handed katana handle. Excellent weapon.
Thank you! I was looking at the d'Capitan, after one of your previous Zombie Tools reviews. The price is good, and your thorough abuse convinced me. I believe I will invest in a d'Capitan. BTW, no more shooting your blades, Silly!
I am worried about its resistance to bullets. Could you test that?
Did Skall shoot one of his swords or something?
He shot some meat cleavers awhile back if I remember correctly.
yup he shot the cleaver (also by zombie tools) with a 7,62 mm bullet LOL
+Antoine Vello He shot a cleaver.
Yeah. he broke it and it was hilarous.
I was hoping for Skall to say: " I'm d'Capitan now."
"Close to indestructible" What caliber of bullet can this one take?
BTW, I don't think we will ever forget about that.

Great value eminem over here.
It does not count as "ending him rightly" unless you can unscrew the pommel and throw it vigorously at your opponent
Can you imagine a warhammer made with pommels?
this seems like an amazing idea :)

It's called a murder-stroke.
That saber looks impressive definitely worth the price...
I wish zombie tools would come out with a rapier
Nexfero I heard Matt Easton was consulting for a Zombie Tools spadroon
Nexfero not very effective against zombies tho.
@@guywithakalashnikov1505 Solution is easy: flamberge blade rapier
That wouldn't make any sense.
I know I’m five years late, and I’m sorry to crush dreams, but ZT only makes practical weapons.
Best part about the sword is that even in fencing the guard is still kinda useful and that's great
I love the bloopers at the end, should include them in more of your videos just to break up the serious tone once and a while.
so pretty
RIP Reaver Cleaver, I miss you Q.Q
they did send him a new one with a don't shoot mark.
that has to be my all time favorite sword
Thfe strenpft offf ifs thiph was lacking, and that's why it failed against the bullets.

Was it a zombie angel?

nah its weakness was abviously the lack of a threaded pommel.
The scenery and landscapes where you live are amazing!

When he was chopping, there were some fantastic shots of him on a pebbled beach with woods right up to the Ocean. Cmon, guys.
+Will 'n Co there is no green screen whatsoever in this video. What you see in the background is wallpaper.
But did you test the strength of the tip? ;)
that's gonna be the new "End him rightly"
5:28 yeah?
watch till the end
i'm crying :D
just the tip can end a wench rightly!
Yeah, I tested the strength of the tip by repeatedly thrusting into wood too...
hehehehehe
*rimshot*
I just acquired this D'Capitan after watching this video years ago and it's well worth the money.

I love it when he tests the strength of the tip with powerful thrusts!
Dam it, you almost got the upper half of the bottle to sit on the cap. So close. Maybe next time.

Might have happened if the cutting stand had been larger and more stable.
I really like the addition of the outtakes at the end - funny stuff! I'm still drooling over the ZT blades; so nice.
