András Horváth I kind of agree. I mean, it's no different than putting your money aside and knowing full well you can afford the sword before purchasing it. Unless you can pay most of it up front and then lay away the last few months, I wouldn't put 300-400$ down on a 1800$ sword because who knows if something isn't going to explode on your car or something a week from then.

the point of a 'real german messer' (or 'großes/langes messer'='big/long knife') not having a false edge were the german laws (although the laws differed from region to region within germany). since they only had one edge they counted as knives and were allowed to be carried by average people (burghers and free peasants). if they'd had a second edge, they would have counted as swords and not everyone would have been allowed to carry them, since only nobles were allowed to carry twoedged weapons. so, the messer basically just were a way to fool the lawmakers or nobles.
***** but not the 'real german' ones - just some remakes. the no-twoedged-rule was quite specific. non-nobles weren't even allowed to carry twoedged daggers. that's the whole point of calling it messer (which is btw singular and plural in german), because the german term for knife is a clear reference to an 'eating tool' - *not* a weapon. so even the term 'kriegsmesser' (warknife) is totally misleading, but they were called 'langes messer' (the straight ones) or 'großes messer' (the curved ones).
Yes, but I don't think a short sharpened swedge near the point counted as double-edged. It was also about the hilt construction. The pinned handle scale design of the messer was different from the construction of a sword in the technical term.
***** well, if you mean like 2cm then you're probably right. so e.g. this (s1337.photobucket.com/user/AlaeSwords/media/kriegmesser2_zps0599a902.jpg.html) seems to be quite accurate, while this (www.darkagecreations.com/products/bks-kriegs-messer?variant=11338673030) is absolutely bullshit. and there were no rules for the handles - just for the blades. so, what i really wanted to say is that you should be happy that you have a quite accurate replica instead of one of these made-up fantasy weapons. and in case you're not noble, you can carry your 'free man's blade' with pride (just tell noone that it's actually a weapon, but keep pretending it's just for e.g. cutting apples). :P

I have yet to see *one* comment about katanas that isn't someone making fun if katanas. Jackasses insulting 'katana cultists' officially outnumber 'katana cultists' by such a large margin that you rarely even see one anymore, and yet people still make fun of them as if they're the most common kind of sword enthusiast. Color me confused.
I have been obsessed with this sword since I saw it on an episode of Forged In Fire. It just seems perfect, at least to my inner little boy mind. I was really intrigued in how it seems like a super beefy, short katana with a cool handle. Great video! I am following this channel now!
Wow. No edge deformation, or knicks. And I have seen how you "over" test a swords durability doing things with it that it was never intended to put up with. And the edge is still smooth and clean. That is nice. I would have to say the cost mirrors the quality. People like to say that you get what you pay for. As a way of saying if you buy something cheap, you get cheap quality. But sometimes when you pay a premium price, you get premium quality.
Yes, absolutely. There are a few exceptions of course, sometimes you get outstanding quality for a relatively low price and sometimes there is overpriced junk too. But in general you certainly get what you pay for as far as swords are concerned (and most other things too).
The Stoned Videogame Nerd yeah that seems like BS. I'd say the US has the best self defence law, if someone attacks you, you can attack back. Doesn't seem like anything can be more hardcover that. You can defend your property with a firearm etc.
Katanas are nowehere near as brittle as some people claim. Its one of those Katana myths (that go both ways) that people spread. Ugly or not its very subjective.
+dylank10101 I don't know why people are so impressed by swords smashing bricks. Bricks may be hard but they are also very brittle. It would be just as impressive as throwing the brick on the ground and stomping it to dust
+Demitrium I don't get it either, its not hard to do with a katana, EVERYONE knows that katanas can slice through planets, why do you think Pluto is so small? It was originally the core of Jupiter, but God grabbed a katana and cut into Jupiter, carved a sphere, and just threw it into orbit
Gai-Jin? He is no exile, he never was a part of it to begin with. I'd use a Katana, but this Messer I'd use just as if not more readily. I'm more of a chopping guy.
probably because Japan had to contend with the US Navy. The IJN was vastly superior and larger than the Kriegsmarine. How well do you think the Kriegsmarine would handle against the USN? LOL!!!! Germany's luftwaffe was sorely outclassed by the USAAF and the USN, so let's not compare apples to oranges here just because they didn't have to deal with it. The IJN also defeated the British fleets in the Indian ocean, if you want a real comparison.
Absolutely immaculate sword, Sir!! I've been a fan of the kriegsmesser, 'messers' in general a long time now... Their lore, their design, and function... This is a phenomenal representation of one, and I am absolutely salivating over how badly I want one!!! Thank you for your review, your videos, and your input, top of the line work!!
Talking about "Knecht": In one video I learned, that the english word "knight" derives from the german word "Knecht" (= servant, menial, farm hand). That seems plausible to me, as we know that the german tribe Saxons migrated to England and also other words have german origin, e.g. "town" (derives from "Zaun" = fence). That would also explain, why the english word knight is not connected to horse (old saxon word: "horsa") or riding, unlike in other languages "Ritter"(ger origin =Reiter = rider), chevalier / cheval (fr), "caballero" / caballo (esp.). Just want to share the fascinating fact, that history leaves it´s marks in our language.
ironheadfm Our words have power. Great power, in fact. It's such a shame seeing the people abuse and be abused by the language without even realizing it.
Giagantus not really. they are made differently, the handle is different, the balance point is different, the guard is different, the material is different. the only thing they got in common is that they are 2 handed single edged curved weapons. that's like saying a car and a bike share some things because they both got wheels and roll on the street :D
No, that's like saying my car has different balance, handles and some ancciliary materials... therefore my car is a bike. No, Katana and Kriegsmesser are fundamentally comparable as fundamentally they are the same thing: they are both two handed single edged curved swords, all about the cut. The question is, if you are going for a sword like that... is the messer way better balance of that than a Katana? Messer having a distal taper while Katana does not does not mean they cannot be compared it means they CAN be compared! If you will only allow a katana to be compared to a curved single edged two handed sword that ALSO: -Had a round wooden guard -had no distal taper -had the a hand grip material of the exact same type. and so on and so on till you have listed every definitive aspect of Katana... you have rigged the only supposedly-fair comparison of a katana is with another Katana. No, it's precisely because of these differences which is why they should be compared.Comparison with a Katana is valuable because it isn't a Katana. It isn't a katana because it's different. if you want a slashing focused sword... Katana and Messer should be compared. They aren't so different that they cannot be compared, they both try to follow the same concept; really good slashing, but does the Messer do it better? Or does Katan do it better?
thanks! Offhand dagger seems like it will be an interesting challenge but when I was trying it at a ren fair (there was a place you could spar with practice weapons) I seemed to do best when I had a rapier in main hand and dagger in offhand
Phuck Edison exactly imagine you get into pretty close combat and your blade breaks and it´s a fight to the death with a decent sword i could unscrew the pummel and throw it at my enemy to win. with this sword you die.
Just discovered the comment section of sword videos.... What's the deal with the pommels? and Katanas? aren't all these just oversized bread knives? :)
Watch Skall's video on 'ending him rightly' and you'll get the pommel thing. The katana discussions are mostly people mocking the katana fanboy fanatics :)
Lol ya apparently katanas are the overplayed class, and I love Japanese anime. Tho in mmorpgs I never play the most played classes , I PvP own with the lesser or at least medium played. Picking my weapon of choice is difficult , picky picky .
Yah in the ancient times Romans would regard Germanic and Celtic tribes as barbarians. They didn't have the best weapons back then. At some point they started making best stuff lol
+Dick The Head There have never been something like superior engendering power of one nation/country. Many nations have their own genius engineers, perfect craftsmanship and specialised, polished products not found in other places. Money pumped into industry decides how big it gets and as I already mentioned German Engineering is a marketing thing.
Wow, don't think I've EVER seen you so gushing impressed. This is a surprisingly sexy sword for a medieval weapon (although 15th century is the cusp). Looks like there could be some Indian or SE Asian influence on the design. It certainly seems unique for a European weapon from that period. Thanks for the video!
Yes. In Germany, it was illegal to carry a sword, but not a knife. So they decided to just make them bigger. And in doing so, got one of the best designs ever.
Now really, this is the most beautiful sword I have ever seen. It looks like the bastard son of a katana, a longsword, and a falchion. If I had the money to buy one, I would choose this one. The perks of living in Spain. You can't have a sword, and money doesn't precisly rain ;-;
I honestly feel like a nerd watching these, but this is interesting and it seems like a fun guilty pleasure of a hobby. Cool video Skallagrim, may never buy a sword but I will definitely continue to watch your videos.
One of my favorite moments in UA-cam history is Eric's response to the kriegsmesser just before 8 minutes. He made the first cut and reflexively looked up at it as it circled back to ready stance almost on its own, as if he was trying to see if the thing was a real object or actually some kind of otherworldly magic spirit. He exclaimed in amazement, with a touch of maniacal cackling: "Hahahaha, I didn't even feel it!" If you watch that scene in slo-mo, you can see that the blade was continuously accelerating through the tatami... the target was simply of no consequence to the purity of intent and motion at hand. It was as if the blade was dividing reality itself with the swing. The best tool in the hands of an advanced practitioner is a kind of magic... and from this ideal pairing comes "The Cult of Blades." The Thing is already alive, it seems, and it only requires the proper practitioner to dance with it :)
K, probably a reference to the renaissance fighting treatise that advocates unscrewing pommels on sideswords and rapiers to throw at opponents. If it's a running gag in Skall's vids, sorry, I don't watch very many of them. Still has no relevance to a slab-hilt.
+LoricSwift No, don't you understand? In order to maximize the cutting power of the sword, the manufacturer has concentrated the awesome power of a throwable pommel into the blade itself!
Good on you for finding an excellent product! There is nothing wrong with finding an item whose only flaw is the price that it comes in at. After all, masterwork quality requires masterwork skill and worksmanship. Thank you this excellent, well thought out video!

Thank you very much for this review! I am trying to write a fantasy story, and taking into account the fighting style of the main character I was initially thinking of a mix between longsword and hussar sword, and the Knecht kriegsmesseris is perfect for him to wield!

the point of a 'real german messer' (or 'großes/langes messer'='big/long knife') not having a false edge were the german laws (although the laws differed from region to region within germany). since they only had one edge they counted as knives and were allowed to be carried by average people (burghers and free peasants). if they'd had a second edge, they would have counted as swords and not everyone would have been allowed to carry them, since only nobles were allowed to carry twoedged weapons. so, the messer basically just were a way to fool the lawmakers or nobles.
Some messers had a false edge though. Just a sharpened section of the spine near the point, but certainly useful for cutting.
*****
but not the 'real german' ones - just some remakes. the no-twoedged-rule was quite specific. non-nobles weren't even allowed to carry twoedged daggers. that's the whole point of calling it messer (which is btw singular and plural in german), because the german term for knife is a clear reference to an 'eating tool' - *not* a weapon. so even the term 'kriegsmesser' (warknife) is totally misleading, but they were called 'langes messer' (the straight ones) or 'großes messer' (the curved ones).
Yes, but I don't think a short sharpened swedge near the point counted as double-edged. It was also about the hilt construction. The pinned handle scale design of the messer was different from the construction of a sword in the technical term.
*****
well, if you mean like 2cm then you're probably right. so e.g. this (s1337.photobucket.com/user/AlaeSwords/media/kriegmesser2_zps0599a902.jpg.html) seems to be quite accurate, while this (www.darkagecreations.com/products/bks-kriegs-messer?variant=11338673030) is absolutely bullshit. and there were no rules for the handles - just for the blades.
so, what i really wanted to say is that you should be happy that you have a quite accurate replica instead of one of these made-up fantasy weapons. and in case you're not noble, you can carry your 'free man's blade' with pride (just tell noone that it's actually a weapon, but keep pretending it's just for e.g. cutting apples). :P
What is a swedge?

Screw the katana, THIS is the ultimate sword
I would like to see this sword against a rapier
I wonder how good of a slashing weapon this is
It depends on the user.

Yay for medieval german engineering!
Mittelalteeliche deutsche Waffen ftw!
+TankT9 its just a katana with a cross guard - they will say
+A FMB More like yay for modern steel and tools to make the most out of ancient designes.
GERMAN TECHNOLOGY IS THE BEST IN THE WOOOOOOOOOOORLD!!!!
jojo fans will understand
+A FMB If German engineering is so wonderful, why can't unscrew the pommel to end them rightly?
You can literally feel the balance and weight just by watching. A truly amazing sword.
I wish Dark Souls 3 would get one as a DLC weapon. The weapons looks sick...
A fan happened to make a Skyrim mod called "Skall's Armory" I think...
He made a video about it
Carthus Curved Sword looks like a good match from what I seen so far
lunarwolf Looks more like the Follower's Sabre to me
Artek [General] i could try something else than my +7 raw ASS
I still come back to this video just to gaze in awe at this sword.
@PhillipMargrave That's a shame

+Dasc Swem I think that the Kriegsmesser might be a better sword than katanas.
***** Katana fanboys used to be rampant and still are in some places. Best to keep making fun of them to keep them away from here.
+Dasc Swem
The Katana would be cooler of it had a proper guard too.
I have been obsessed with this sword since I saw it on an episode of Forged In Fire. It just seems perfect, at least to my inner little boy mind. I was really intrigued in how it seems like a super beefy, short katana with a cool handle.
Great video!
I am following this channel now!
No wonder they sent you one as a "get well gift" you probably sent them a few thousand customers! :)
Man, those krauts are good at designing and building everything, its like a nation populated by Tony Stark clones.
Binabiqe No prob. :)
Trust me, there are also stupid trolls in Germany :)
Haha thanks xD.
The Stoned Videogame Nerd *Cough* the refugee crisis *Cough*
The Stoned Videogame Nerd yeah that seems like BS. I'd say the US has the best self defence law, if someone attacks you, you can attack back. Doesn't seem like anything can be more hardcover that. You can defend your property with a firearm etc.
Kriegsmesser in Dark Souls:
"Nice curved greatsword ya got there." "Greatsword? This is just a knife, dude."
It's like a Katana and a longsword had a baby.
+SmallDickFartCollector. Nah, unlike the katana it isn't brittle and ugly.
+SmallDickFartCollector. Exactly what I thought.
Katanas are nowehere near as brittle as some people claim. Its one of those Katana myths (that go both ways) that people spread. Ugly or not its very subjective.
+SmallDickFartCollector. fuckin weeaboo
+SuperZeroMaker No actually, just pointing out similarities in styles of swords.
I think I just found my favorite sword, both aesthetically speaking as well as for performance. Thanks for the video!
One Negative: It's made for right hander only. For a left hander the 'Nagel' is on the wrong side ;-)
When ordering it you can ask for either a right-handed or left-handed nagel placement.
well... in this case, this knife is simply too good :D
You were pronounciating “Nagel“ surprisingly well.
***** i thought you said you're from germany....
Noah Weisbrod
I lived there for a while but that doesn't make me German. :) But no worries, it doesn't matter anyway.
These so-called jokes in the comments have become way too obvious now. You people are trying too hard.
+Haydn Malyon
Actually I'd say they aren't trying at all. No effort whatsoever.
+Skallagrim What's your opinion on polish hussar saber?
*****
Nicely put.
+Haydn Malyon So I can't say "The pommel doesn't unscrew to end the opponent rightly"?
+TheFoodnipple No, but you could say that a Katana is sharper; just because it's called a Katana.
That sound of the edge moving through the air and cutting the target was pure magic. Beautiful job.
Now that's a cleaver. I feel like you've discovered the actual sword that katana lovers like to imagine.
But can it block bullets?
+Darlos9D Can it cut its way into castles?
Psssh, its not a katana, only katanas can block bullets and cut through solid stone brick walls. (Obviously joking)
+dylank10101 I don't know why people are so impressed by swords smashing bricks. Bricks may be hard but they are also very brittle. It would be just as impressive as throwing the brick on the ground and stomping it to dust
(Obviously joking)
+Demitrium I don't get it either, its not hard to do with a katana, EVERYONE knows that katanas can slice through planets, why do you think Pluto is so small? It was originally the core of Jupiter, but God grabbed a katana and cut into Jupiter, carved a sphere, and just threw it into orbit
This sword is basically a checklist of everything the Japanese failed to realize their sword needed.
Colton Turner oh shit katana weebs are gonna hunt you, run while I'll hold them off
Prepare yourself for shit like "Glorious nippon steel!" or "Katanas never get dull!"
Colton Turner OH NO!!! RUN!!!
It‘s so amazing that he pronounced Knecht properly
This sword looks fantastic, i love that small curve at the top of the blade, i love the guard, and it's wooden handle ugh i need to start saving up!
Professor Badger...did you get it?
It8s been 4 years, we need a damn answer!
This video reminds me of that part of MGS3 where Snake describes his M1911
That's some sword
Absolutely immaculate sword, Sir!!
I've been a fan of the kriegsmesser, 'messers' in general a long time now...
Their lore, their design, and function...
This is a phenomenal representation of one, and I am absolutely salivating over how badly I want one!!!
Thank you for your review, your videos, and your input, top of the line work!!
Now skallagrim is olgierd von everec
was looking for this comment!
Gets his head cut off
Starts clapping
“I see you used an Albion maxion to slice my head off. Good choice, but did you bring pommels?”
Binabiqe I know. I am German. But that was not my point. However, I corrected the sentence.
They're germans, they're scandinavians, they're french, they're everything!
+My beautiful and amazing mistress Actually no, it's like saying the French are Spanish or that Finns are Magyars.
ironheadfm Our words have power. Great power, in fact. It's such a shame seeing the people abuse and be abused by the language without even realizing it.
ironheadfm Chevalier is supposedly a naval word transferred to horsemanship by the Normans.
So it's worth the price ! Wish I could afford one. Thank You for your informative videos.
Was expecting you to use it as a throwing knife. Well, a bit disappointed, great review btw.
How?
+Sir Science skall can find a way
Matticuss StormBlade it would be like throwing a 2 by 4
Yeah but skall is skall the king of throwing thing you probably shouldn't
+Matticuss StormBlade This guy knows whats up.
Spending almost 2k for a piece of metal and wood, throwing said thing in a bag with sharp blades! A M A Z I N G
Love how you dressed up for this one as well. Thanks!
"War Knife" sounds like a good name for a heavy metal band
hey, katana fanboys. WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?
The blade isn't completely unlike a Katana ? The share some things....
Giagantus not really. they are made differently, the handle is different, the balance point is different, the guard is different, the material is different. the only thing they got in common is that they are 2 handed single edged curved weapons. that's like saying a car and a bike share some things because they both got wheels and roll on the street :D
+Giagantus a Catan a katana is litterally a sharpened bar . no distal taper at all. they're thick sharpened bars.
If you will only allow a katana to be compared to a curved single edged two handed sword that ALSO:
-Had a round wooden guard
-had no distal taper
-had the a hand grip material of the exact same type.
and so on and so on till you have listed every definitive aspect of Katana... you have rigged the only supposedly-fair comparison of a katana is with another Katana.
Or does Katan do it better?
doesnt have a pommel to throw. nuff said
One of my favorite swords ever, made by one of my favorite sword-makers.
10/10
@skallagrim I hope you know I'm taking sword fighting classes because of you
+Flailmorpho
Now I do. Have fun!
I'm going to be specializing in Rapier and Dagger, any tips?
+Flailmorpho end them rightly
+Flailmorpho
Hopefully your instructor will give you plenty of tips. In general I'd say don't neglect footwork practice, especially in rapier.
thanks! Offhand dagger seems like it will be an interesting challenge but when I was trying it at a ren fair (there was a place you could spar with practice weapons) I seemed to do best when I had a rapier in main hand and dagger in offhand
1.400 $ and i can´t even throw the pummel..
+Krysteal13 made me produce a somewhat loud chuckle
+Krysteal13 $1,750.00 on Albion's website.
Antonius Kazakov Makes it even worse :c
It's a deal breaker for me
Phuck Edison exactly imagine you get into pretty close combat and your blade breaks and it´s a fight to the death with a decent sword i could unscrew the pummel and throw it at my enemy to win. with this sword you die.
congratulation for obtaining such an excellently made sword by a master swordsmith.
"You would probably have to pound it quite a bit to get it off..."
-Skallagrim
Just discovered the comment section of sword videos.... What's the deal with the pommels? and Katanas? aren't all these just oversized bread knives? :)
Watch Skall's video on 'ending him rightly' and you'll get the pommel thing. The katana discussions are mostly people mocking the katana fanboy fanatics :)
Timis Daniel Butter knives that are six feet long and chews bone like your average direwolf? Yes indeed.
Timis Daniel: Well, bread was much larger back then, I suppose.
Lol ya apparently katanas are the overplayed class, and I love Japanese anime. Tho in mmorpgs I never play the most played classes , I PvP own with the lesser or at least medium played. Picking my weapon of choice is difficult , picky picky .
It's a pretty looking thing, that's for sure! Function and Aesthetics
WHAT! You know Eric from Blood & Iron in Victoria?
I just started going to classes there!
+James Hui
Yes, I normally practice there. Just haven't been able to in a while due to injuries.
***** I know and those swords are made in Poland
+James Hui
If that is your real name, I am doing you a favour by telling you this: never visit Russia.
+ArturKala
Nor Poland
+ArturKala Why?
Goddamn German engineering.
Seriously, was there ever a time that Germany wasn't at the forefront of weapons design or metallurgy?
Yah in the ancient times Romans would regard Germanic and Celtic tribes as barbarians. They didn't have the best weapons back then. At some point they started making best stuff lol
IIRC, the Romans learned much of their advanced metallurgy from Iberians and Phoenicians.
German engineering is all about marketing.
Alot of more modern german engineering tends to be over complicated but other than that...
+Dick The Head
There have never been something like superior engendering power of one nation/country.
Thanks for the video!
theamazingbatboy
They came into being when knife makers wanted to compete with sword makers and expand their market.
weren't kriegsmessers made in response to actual swords becoming illegal? like, they were in a loophole due to certain aspects of their design
Yes. In Germany, it was illegal to carry a sword, but not a knife. So they decided to just make them bigger. And in doing so, got one of the best designs ever.
legal loopholes!
I'm still amazed that some clever blacksmith actually managed to fool the legal system into believing that kriegsmessers were merely knives!
it's like a german with a kriegsmesser talking to crocodile dundee, giving him his own spiel.
"you call that a knife? nein, freunde, THIS is a knife!"
Haha!
As far as hobbies go, it's not that pricy. Try being a musician.

You have such an excited aura throughout the video! It's so fun!
Great video, BTW.
what a gorgeous sword
This makes me proud of my surname!
Krystof Knecht Anyone can be proud with a name like "Knight"!
Gray Blackhelm Fairly sure "Knecht" is servant, not knight, but still cool because of the Landknecht.
What would Roland Kaiser say? ^^
That’s your surname? Lucky you
This is probably my favorite weapon review from skall it just feels very professional.
So ye gud vid.
Precision German engineering.
Now really, this is the most beautiful sword I have ever seen. It looks like the bastard son of a katana, a longsword, and a falchion. If I had the money to buy one, I would choose this one.
The perks of living in Spain. You can't have a sword, and money doesn't precisly rain ;-;
I honestly feel like a nerd watching these, but this is interesting and it seems like a fun guilty pleasure of a hobby. Cool video Skallagrim, may never buy a sword but I will definitely continue to watch your videos.
plus there is nothing wrong with being a nerd and I am a fucking nerd.
He exclaimed in amazement, with a touch of maniacal cackling: "Hahahaha, I didn't even feel it!"
If you watch that scene in slo-mo, you can see that the blade was continuously accelerating through the tatami... the target was simply of no consequence to the purity of intent and motion at hand. It was as if the blade was dividing reality itself with the swing.
The best tool in the hands of an advanced practitioner is a kind of magic... and from this ideal pairing comes "The Cult of Blades." The Thing is already alive, it seems, and it only requires the proper practitioner to dance with it :)
Poetic
The only downside other than the price is the lack of a threaded-pommel :(
+LoricSwift It may cut like a boss, but with it, there is no chance to end your foes rightly.
+LoricSwift This is a Kriegsmesser---NONE of them had threaded pommels historically. They have slab-hilt construction, like a Knife.
K, probably a reference to the renaissance fighting treatise that advocates unscrewing pommels on sideswords and rapiers to throw at opponents. If it's a running gag in Skall's vids, sorry, I don't watch very many of them. Still has no relevance to a slab-hilt.
Zachary Luna It's clearly a blemish on what would of otherwise been the ultimate weapon, :(
+LoricSwift No, don't you understand? In order to maximize the cutting power of the sword, the manufacturer has concentrated the awesome power of a throwable pommel into the blade itself!
Good on you for finding an excellent product! There is nothing wrong with finding an item whose only flaw is the price that it comes in at. After all, masterwork quality requires masterwork skill and worksmanship. Thank you this excellent, well thought out video!
2014: "Metal swords"

Indeed. :)
out of curiosity Skall is that still your favorite sword?
I’m currently writing a mythological fantasy novel in my main character, the trickster god Hakkon’s main weapon is a Kriegsmesser
Oh god its my dream sword but its so expensive
"You have to pound it a little bit to get it off" That's too much information skall, we don't need to know that.
I can watch this video over and over again. Beautiful weapon!
But how can you get the pommel off to end them rightly?.. 3/10. Bad sword.
+Quick Attack Films Throwing the pommel is the noob tube of medieval warfare, because you can tell whether someone's a noob if they try it.
HellPwnage 1337 Totally.
In what video did this pommel joke come about? I've been watching a lot of his videos, but this must be an extremely long standing joke.
rettwoods Honestly, I forgot.
+rettwoods Search for 'skallagrim end him rightly' and you'll find it.
I still believe that the kriegsmesser is the best option for having a Vampire hunter D sword.
That sword is amazing. As soon as I saw this design, I was an in awe. Now hearing the review, I shall dream as I save.
He is canadian tough and does not even sound like an american... ._.
This sword seems to be of the quality that a knight would take to the battlefield, even though it's not a knights weapon!
i always come to see this review, i love this sword so much.
nothing beats German engineering.
Mr. Tactical Boobs, beer, and machinery. That's the German way.
this reproduction, with all it's quality, was made in the United States
in Germany today Merkel would call it a Racist, Mysocignicstic Holocaust Enabler and thus wouldn't be legal
infact a butter knife over 4" long probably isn't legal in germany now.
@@roberth.goddardthefatherof6376 it is still a reproduction of a german design. You think were not able to build somthing like that? We allready did in 16th century
+Crockett
it's the truth, Germany's weapon laws are disgusting and the country is
turning into Germanistan faster than you realize.
also calling me an "idiot" without a counter argument is really really smart.
Japanese cars > German cars
Kriegs-"MESSER"?! When they called this a knife, I don´t what to know what they called Sword
+Kapitän JadeDejavu I wonder what Crocodile Dundee would have to say about this.
have you seen the zweihander (or whatever the spelling is) that thing is bigger than the average person
i didn´t seen that yet, but a "zweihänder" should be big but THIS is never a knife like it is called
Kapitän JadeDejavu what im getting to is that in comparison to that, this is a knife
My beautiful and amazing mistress it's massive, almost like a polearm in length
Thank you very much for this review! I am trying to write a fantasy story, and taking into account the fighting style of the main character I was initially thinking of a mix between longsword and hussar sword, and the Knecht kriegsmesseris is perfect for him to wield!
I almost think could marry a sword like that!
Don't try fucking it.
+Badatstuff anything's a dildo if you're brave enough.
+vortex594 is that a space frogs reference?
+ben masky (proxy) i think so, too
+LoricSwift I don't want to be there for the honeymoon...
How did you touch up the blade sharpness? using the worksharp machine?
Yes.
Thanks for pronouncing Knecht so beautifully!
10 of those swords = my car
Congrats
thonkx
Half of this sword = my car
subterreanhighrise a quarter of that sword = 10x my dick size
+Nightly Death needed to know that
This weapon looks exactly like the Beauclair Sword from The Witcher 3.
Wanted one of these for a long time... a good friend of mine was able to afford one of these and i fell in love with it.. there are not many swords like it
7:25 - too much coffee for Skall, I think!
So, in the eyes of a total newbie... it's basically a German katana
No, it's a fruit knife
don't say that it hurts my feelings
How did you fit so much stupid into such a short word phrase?
years of practice on the Internet.
No its different steel, more curve, different handle, larger blade and it has a different guard
I used to be very biased against messers but seeing a reproduction as beautiful as this one I think they’re growing on me
this is a small version of mihawk´s yoru
luiz figueira REALLY small. Yoru is something like three times the size of this.
