I'm a newer fan so I'll put in my insight. To be fair, in they're older albums, Joel's screams weren't very good and Ahren's voice wasn't the greatest either. Youngbloods seems like when they really became good. Youngbloods and every album after are amazing. Severed ties and glory days aren't as easy to listen to. But that's just my opinion, and that's coming from someone that doesn't listen to this genre, but is obsessed with TAA

Saw these guys with my 15 yr old a couple weeks back in Atlanta. It was a small arena and my GOD it was like a personal concert right next to the stage. I finally found a spot behind the band on the way to the bathroom where I could handle the volume. We rocked and loved it. They didn't play like you hear them on the radio. They thrashed and tore the place up. I wish i knew they were selling ear plugs. lol.

I was planning on recording the whole set like that (I was able to for the couple of concerts I attended after this one), but I just had my phone for the show and battery was running low so didn't want to chance it completely running out before their set was done haha.
they don't really talk between songs like other bands do, if anything its just 'hows everyone going?, this next song is blah blah"

I don't think Ahren is bad at all. I don't know why people think he can't sing. Like obviously he can sing otherwise he wouldn't be here. I compare him to Amy Lee (from evanescence), like old Amy, not her today cause she's a lot more controlled. Anyway, we cannot deny she is an exellent singer, but live, when she moves around a lot (sometimes) it's a bit if-y. That's what I take out of Ahren. He's in the same boat I find. And he, like old Amy. Also fails to use his diaphragm, which is critical, because he only uses his vocal cords (which is an excellent way to damage them).
My point is I have high faith that he can sing, it's just needs work. On the high parts, cause the low keys, he's good, higher ones need work.
Salem One thing that could mess him up is his bass. I've looked at the bass parts and played some and the rythmes could disrupt him
