- The reviews are in for PS-1 after the 30th September release. The film is getting rave reviews. Let's reviist how this amazing film was made. The second most expensive movie of India PS-1 aka Ponniyin Selvan is a film adaptation of the classic Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan, written by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The novel itself is a compilation of the story published in the magazine Kalki over a span of four years. PS-1 has been directed by Mani Ratnam. The star cast of the film includes the likes of Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha Krishnan, Sobhita Dhulipala and veterans like Nassar and Prakash Raj. The music of PS-1 has been composed by A R Rahman.

I am reading PS and let me tell you. Bahubali has more action scenes and hence is more of a mass masala audience entertainer. But PS is more of conspiracy, character depth, lots of twists and turns, romance, strategy etc. There won't be as many action scenes as Bahubali, but jinko bhi aitihasic novels ka shauk hai, do read it. It is amazing, with lots of twists and turns, sarcastic dialogues and interesting, more complex storyline with lots and lots of characters. Especially Nandini... 😍 Her character is so well developed and has lots of depth, Kalki is a genius writer.
I think Maniratnam added some more war scenes which was mentioned very less in the novel.
Adithya karikala fight with rashrakutas(confirmed).
But my wish is they should add Vijayalaya cholan war scenes too.
Even many scenes in Bahubali is inspired from ps , when kamal hassan and mani ratnam take effort to make ps as movie , Rajamouli is there in story discussion , raja matha character , bahubali and her brother character are all inspired from ps

Although the novel is based on certain fictional characters like that of Pazhuvoor Ilaya Rani Nandini, the characters of Aditya Karikalan, Ilaya Piraati Kundavai and Arulmozhi Varman (Raja Raja Chozhan) and their father Sundara Chozhan are real characters. Raja Raja Chozhan is indeed Ponniyin Selvan.

It's not fictional story mam , story is based on real story the writer as travelled all over south india and srilanka he investigated and interviewed many people and to make popular he exaggerated the story, actually it's 60% real and 40% added story.
