I would have found these features on my own ... NEVER! Once again an information-rich video from Leila ... that I will have to watch several times to fully absorb ... and then again. Thank you ... thank you ... thank you ... 😍😍😍
I am pretty new to Power BI. The company pushed out the Power BI update without telling us what the changes were. I thought I was losing my mind. Though I figured out some of it, this video really sorted everything out. Sane again. Thank you.
Yours was not the first channel showing the new options. But your video was so far the best one in terms of explaining the features, especially the not so obvious ones in a crisp way, without getting lost in details. Btw, I like the new format options.
I understand that this is useful for people transitioning from Excel. BUT I really hope that they keep it as an option and don't end up forcing it upon us. For seasoned PBI users, it's a lot more effort and clicking.
They’ll force it for sure. Just look at the new visualisations pane (which I guess is gone with this new update 🤷♂️). Most users hated the changes. They went ahead and forced it on us anyway. I swear no one working on the powerbi UI at MS uses the product. If they did, they wouldn’t have made many of the decisions they have recently.
It takes a little bit to get used to, but after using for a couple months, I really do think it’s worth it. If you’re designing a whole page, maybe not. But when you just want to change some formatting quickly, I love it. I didn’t know what the blue boundary was doing so I’m happy I found this video.
Thank you Leila! I was about to explore this new fearure on my own and chanced upon your video, so it became more clear and understandable. Always love your enthusiasm in teaching and of course the way you present and explain! 🙂
Thanks for the great introduction to Power BI's new features, Leila! As someone who is more comfortable creating and customising charts in Excel, these new features definitely make it easier for me to use Power BI for data visualisation. Tbh, I had always been a little intimidated by that Formatting pane (shhh don't tell anyone, it's a secret!) 😂
I'm sure there'd be some temporary discomfort when moving over to this view, but maybe in the long run - its a beneficial upgrade to utilise. I've found that the formatting pain was difficult to understand when I first started using power bi - but now it's intuitive to me - purely because I use it every day. I'm on some reddit groups for power bi / data science - and formatting improvement is a regularly discussed feature. Maybe they're listening to their users more now. thanks for making this video - I'll try out this new view. :)
Thanks Leila. Excel and Power BI a good mariage.... The way you present here is just like I am listening to a new chapter of your excellent course "up and running with Power BI".
Dear Leila, could you help me please? We have a BI table at work, is it possible to somehow add columns where we could add notes to a given row, and they would not disappear when the table is updated? Thanks in advance for any help. You are amazing 💗
Thank you and congratulations for the excellent exposition. I like this new feature because it gives users the choice of retaining an Excel-like environment or keeping the original PBI layout. Freedom is always better than constraint ... :)

Hi Leila! Thanks for everything you do. I learn a lot from your videos. I wanted to ask you about how could I have interactive charts and tables in powerpoint (presentation mode). I explored Power BI a little, but I got confused by the different products there are. Thanks again!
I prefer this other approach, but I am an Excel user. And I think a lot of Power BI users also use Excel (and other Office apps). What I like most is the option to use the right mouse button in more situations. In my Excel courses (but also other programs) I always tell that the right mouse button is your BFF (Best Friend Forever). Why? Because with every update things CAN be replaced and then you have to search. But most of the times the things you need most are under that mousebutton!
Formatting is the only area, i always think Excel is better than Power BI, cos we can easily add/remove any chart elements and add/remove formatting to it. Now, finally Power BI is updated. I love this update.
Thanks Leila. When I created cluster column charts in Excel, I enjoyed what you show me previously re: highlighting the top 3 highest elements by having extra preparation columns. Can we still do it with Power BI please?
I signed up for the newbies one hour power bi mini course, URL was in the power slicer video from a couple of months ago. Luckily, I was able to sign up for the full PowerBI course and get the $60 discount- thank you.
Generally speaking the new interface is much better, less clunky 'typical old microsoft' one but thanks Leila for explaining the difference before I started with the new one otherwise I would struggle with the unknown updates
Just like we can make Python visuals, can we write a Python code to loop through slicers in the report and export the PDF of the selected slicer containing all relevant data of that selected and do it in a batch like creating 100 pdf at once?
Is it possible to show data of non-consecutive years? I need to do some visuals comparing 2019 vs 2023 and 2024, but X-axis types provides only 2 options - Continuous and Categorical. How can I remove the years that I don't need?
Dear Laila Ghurani, Your videos are valuable thank you for your rentless efforts. I am currently working in project where most of the issues are time related , measured in hours and minutes, as you know Power Bi is not customed to add or subtract hours. Please if you share a video for simple addition and subtraction of hours data in Power Bi , I would be thankful. The machinery rental rates and the worked Gower for people are the measure for payments and related computations of efficiency , Please I really appreciate if you do a video on that.
Seems like MS has been deliberately trying to make it harder to use PowerBI the last year or so, all under the guise of “improvements for the lay-men”. PowerBI is a pro-user product. They need to stop trying to dumb it down.
I was really passed off when I turned on this preview feature. Now I can't go back to previous layout even if I have turned off this preview feature. It will take a while to get used to it.
Hi Leila I have a common problem with Power BI. It's really making me frustrated because everytime I use that, I don't know what would be the result. Eveyrtime I use tooltip option for a huge data (for example candlestick of an stock for more than a month) I will see that the tooltip has a scrollbar at the bottom. And you definitely know it is useless! Because you can't hover the mouse on that. So I am not able to see the whole data. Is there a way to show all the data in the chart without dealing with scrollbar? (Like Excel Charts that doesn't have scrollbar) Looking forward to get help. Thanks a lot.

I was using the changes for about 2 days until I ran into an issue with moving fields in a table, and they wouldn't move like they used to. That was aggravating. I then wanted to drag some custom date fields in the heirachy around, and it didn't let me. I turned it off. I like the old much better
@LeilaGharani I have a problem with excel. how can we count or sum a number lies somewhere in text. for example: Ghty 5jhu Ghbj 6jkn Ghbd 4hjk and I want to count or sum only numbers from these texts. kindly guide. thank you a lot... I am waiting! 😁

Hello MHF! If "kg" were a constant, I would FIND "kg", then - 1. With this result, use EXTRACT or MED. Finally, VALUE.NUMBER. VALUE.NUMBER(MED(FIND())) ☝That formula in a Column, then SUM. Hope it helps.
Thanks for the video. I hope this visualization of the desktop would be optional. Is honestly so confusing and I don’t think it resembles excel at all. I am not even sure why they spent so much time in changing the visualization panel. It was intuitive before now you have to search against all the other tabs to find it. Not a big fan.
Hope you enjoyed the updates. If you'd like to learn Power BI from scratch, join our Fast Track to Power BI course: www.xelplus.com/course/fast-track-to-power-bi/

Is there any Excel add-on that can create actionable insights automatically without me creating pivots and explore?

Ok, it's one less pane on the side, but always a bit of pain trying to get used to the ever changing interface...
How to fix photo legacy using cmd it won't let me add files from pc to edit videos thanks
I tried the new feature. Seems like a lot more clicking to accomplish the same thing. Turned off until Microsoft forces me to use it.
This looks like a headache 😭 I fully agree with your comment
Agree. I turned it off after 10 minutes. Understand some users will like this new feature, they may even find it easier. It’s not for me

Hi Laila: Will you be updating your Power BI course to include these new features?
Hi
I am looking for a function in google sheet, can you help me.
Data details
Two columns ( A, B)
Eg
A B
Car 23
March 26
Apple 25
...
Long table
------
Filter : ar ( part of string)
Answer
A B
Car 23
March 28
How to do above in google sheet?
April 2023 update is already out... more features to discover.
They need to find a way to facilitate editing the interaction between items (cards charts,,,) in the same page

for example:
Ghty 5jhu
Ghbj 6jkn

I am waiting! 😁
You said “somewhere” in the text. Is it always four letters, your number, then 3 more letters? Or does that change
Learn about using power query. It will make this sort of thing a doddle! Leila had lots of videos on it.

Yes, of course

I have to admit, I do not like the new menu layout. I find myself looking and clicking through so many menus looking for something I can't find.

And still no dark mode in 2023 where it is a standard in every all.
