Leila, May I suggest, when you are talking about features, please mention version of Excel you are using. My version of Excel 365 enterprise does not have half of mentioned in this video
+1! PQ being able to handle spill results. This feels for me the workaround for tables not being able to handle spill. Usually that is only the first column that the rest builds on.
Hey Leila - Thank you for keep us all aware of coming features! Can you tell us - 1.) Which Excel version are these new feature active in now? 2.)Is there a trickle down schedule to all releases?
I can't believe it took MS Excel that long to have Ctrl + Shìt + V shortcut, this shortcut has been literally everywhere except Excel for ages. Great video, thank you Leila!
Thanks Leila for sharing. They are such useful features, I followed with you step by step, regarding the first tip, for some reason the list came out with duplicate values. I would like to know what cause that problem. I do have the 365 version but I could not see the Navigation pane anywhere. 😓
Navigation is my favorite. I just learned about it from this video. I have a workbook with 26 sheets so navigation is going to make my life so much better!
Thank you for this video. Very usefull. I would like to see a feature where ppl could center across selection vertically. I can't stand those merged cells.
Hi Leila, I discovered your site accidentally and love it, including your style of educating as it is helping me get better at using Excel. I have seen in your videos and others that the use of merged columns is discouraged and wanted to know how to handle this when I need to group a series of rows that collectively form a unit of transaction. e.g., if I am tracking expenses across multiple events across multiple sites, I am using a sheet where individual expenses are grouped under a single event id, which along with other event-level details are shown as a merged row (e.g., event id, event location, total expenses etc).
The Office apps have long suffered from two issues: 1) discoverability and 2) menu hell. The search will certainly help IF you know what you’re looking for but discovering new capabilities in the awesome products is still a challenge. I don’t know what the solution is but it’s something that should be addressed. Normal users may use 5-10% of a product’s features. As pros, we probably use 20-30%.
I agree. Microsoft is aware of this issue and they're trying hard experiment with different methods. It's not easy to find a solution that is helpful and not annoying (or in the way) of getting your work done. For example, popups inside the app can be seen as helpful for some, but annoying for others.
Normal users can barely open the file with all the security warnings and popups. Even worst is I use to chare a command bar with 90% of the features i use with in a month. Microsoft a few years ago made the importing of the bar non-functional, even if I save my current one it reset to default on import. The Search function is a game changer if you know what you are searching for. The Navigation panel hasn't made it through the cooperate filters yet. But i would love for them to fix the mountain of bugs than add new features. Overly inflating file sizes, constant unrecoverable crashes, cells getting stuck with the updating % overlay. Adding new feature to a plague program is like giving cough medicine to some one with lung cancer. FIX the F'ing Program! I've been dealing with rampant file sizes issue for over 20 years now. Guess what, Pandas don't like xlsb file types....
And rebar was Microsoft's solution to menu hell to begin with. Yeah of course I want my buttons to shrink or vanish when I resize my window. That's why you see the title bar littered with shortcuts on many PCs
@@borstenpinsel Any idea why they are killing the command bar, the ribbon can be hidden but taking away the ability to share command bars is just sloppy.
The fact that there is a "Commands not in the ribbon" section when you customize the Quick Access Toolbar is prime example of this. Most of them are garbage, but there are some that are super useful, in PowerPoint for example there are a Pick Up Style and Apply Style commands that are WAY more powerful than the Format Painter shortcut, if anything because they store the style and you can later apply it without having to worry about mis-clicking.
The navigation pane one is a game changer for me, and the search will be game changing for when I'm training other Excel users (mostly because I've customised my Excel ribbon and can never remember where the default menu options are!)
After mastering the fundamental literacy in computer, I am a bit slow in learning. But I will practice, until I reach my goal, I must express my thank you.
Ctrl-Alt-V already works to bring up the "Paste Special" dialog. you still have to specify values only, but it's at least a little faster than the ribbon
Thanks Leila, always my go-to for Excel etc. I never even noticed some of these, like automate and navigate, using it already 😊 Anyone remember Quatro Pro years ago? I loved it, ahead of the pack back then I thought, had a quick record, once off or saveable, used it often, seems automate is similar.
I like the use of spill ranges into power query! To copy and paste removing formula, I select the range, right the any edge or border, drag away and return to the same location. A popup appears with selections and select copy here as values only!
The best 9 minutes and 19 seconds of my day! ... and so good that I will likely watch several times ... a cornucopia of ideas. Thank you ... thank you ... thank you ... 😍😍😍
Thanks Leila. I did not use the "search menu" yet. Just tried it. You can type "Form" to use this (hidden in the menu) . That's nice. But this does not work for "Camera" (also not in the menu).
As always, many sincere thanks for all your work. I have used the search feature before and when you click on the info, it brings you to the function. I would like to see Microsoft show the shortcut to activate the function so I do not have to keep looking for it.
I am watching many of your videos and sometimes jealous that Microsoft Office has so amazing teacher 😁 I would want that Libre Office would have so amazing teacher like Leila😉

This is always exciting to try new features and thank you for introducing them to us. What is frustrating for me is some are available on my home computer and not at work and sometimes the opposite. Some very useful tips as always, thank you.
I don’t use power queries but navigation and office scripts are going to help me do much. Thank you! I wish Microsoft had a better way of notifying users about new features. That’s why I love your channel ❤.
Great content as usual! But whenever you mention "new" features I would suggest to mention the Excel version which was used, as any feature might depend on age of the version in use.
Office 365 has impressed me more than I expected. These new features are amazing and especially good for those who cannot remember keyboard shortcuts. Thanks Leila for sharing :)
First of all, thank you for your very knowledgeable content. I love that you know sooo much about so many applications and I find your channel VERY useful. Maybe you have specified somewhere, and maybe I have not seen it but I would find it very useful if you mentioned in which versions of Excel these features are available. For example I am using excel 2021 and I don't see some of these new features so do they need to be switched on or are they only available in 365? TIA
thank you for sharing your expertise with the world and for making my Excel experience so much better. One small little question, how the automate feature differs from macros?
Nice video as usual. I loved the Navigation Pane... not so sure about the ALT_F12 on, whereas copy past special value did not work... For the Automate menu: which Excel version is it?, the dynamic array thing requires some extra studying on your video..
Looking forward to seeing what Automate can do, once it comes out for Excel 365 for MacOS. I have a workbook with a VBA script built around a power query. I also share this with a team that only uses the Web interface. It would/will be nice to open up the workbook to more people.
Hi Leila, I enjoy very much your cristal clear tutorials. Thanks for sharing so much valuable information. What software do you use to create a spot light when you want to highlight a point on the screen ? All the best for you.
The search box was there is the windows version of office (excel, powerpoint and word) at the top of the tool bar for some time now. Works the same way as the search box shown here

Thank you, Leila. What is the version of Excel for this vid?
365
Dynamic Arrays as a Power Query source is a game changer i didn't know that 😭😭😭 Thanks Leila.😍
This is Massive News !!
5:06 - you can also generate 10 consecutive dates via =SEQUENCE(10,,TODAY()) and appropriate formatting.
I love the search bar when I right click! I didn't even notice the updates until this video! Thanks for bringing such valuable videos to all of us!
+1! PQ being able to handle spill results. This feels for me the workaround for tables not being able to handle spill. Usually that is only the first column that the rest builds on.
Thanks Leila.
Mine is the last 2 Dynamic arrays for PQ and for charts.
The Navigation pane is indeed the best for me. I've been struggling with tabs and that will help a lot. Thanks for showing!
Navigation will be my favorite with the 150-tab spreadsheet I have to work with. Automate will come in a close 2nd. Thanks for the video!
Hey Leila - Thank you for keep us all aware of coming features!
Can you tell us -
1.) Which Excel version are these new feature active in now?
2.)Is there a trickle down schedule to all releases?
Great! The Automate option is pure Gold.
Your channel is so knowledgeable, Leila. As a technologist I highly appreciate your content and effort to make us understand it.
Uraaaaa! ctrl+shift+v works in my Excel 365))) It's amazing and comfortable to use this shortcut. Thank you Leila 👌
I can't believe it took MS Excel that long to have Ctrl + Shìt + V shortcut, this shortcut has been literally everywhere except Excel for ages. Great video, thank you Leila!
Now that it's native, I can get rid of my ++-fired macro that does the same!
Danke, Leila! Navigation pane is my favourite, I will use this a lot !
Good choice!
Please make video for JIRA tool too.
It seems like the Automate tab is like Macros which is great. Or are there any differences?
I can see myself using this quite a bit.
Thanks Leila for sharing. They are such useful features, I followed with you step by step, regarding the first tip, for some reason the list came out with duplicate values. I would like to know what cause that problem. I do have the 365 version but I could not see the Navigation pane anywhere. 😓

OMG!!! The Navigation Pane is a LIFE SAVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I know, right? Great addition!
Cool stuff and to the point - as usual!! Hats off. Another content of yours for me now to share with my friends and colleagues.
Thanks Leila! I liked the Navigation feature.
EXCEL-lent explanations! 🙌
Glad you liked it!
value preview tooltip is very great. no need press F9 anymore, thankyou leila
Dynamic Array results being fed to Power Query: LOVE IT!!!!!
I am always amazed they find more things to do. Excel is probably the most important package on the planet.
I’m new to power Querry and this new excel options - very helpful !!! Greta content !!!

Excellent videos. Using scripts and navigation panes is my next stop.
its awesome ! @leila PLEASE POST TUTORIALS ON MS word AND PPT..Would immensely appreciate it.. a comprehensive and simplified tutorial
That Scripts options is similar to the Record Macro but seems to be super useful for shared files. Thank Leila for sharing this info.
Interesting new features, I think I'll be using the search and navigation ones a lot. Thanks for sharing!
The navigation pane one is a game changer for me, and the search will be game changing for when I'm training other Excel users (mostly because I've customised my Excel ribbon and can never remember where the default menu options are!)
Interesting updates to Excel! It's like watching a masterclass in efficiency. Great video!
Glad you think so!
FromArray - FINALLY!!!! Thank the gods!
Love the menu search and navigator
After mastering the fundamental literacy in computer, I am a bit slow in learning.
But I will practice, until I reach my goal, I must express my thank you.
I love them all! Thank you Leila.
Been waiting for the paste values shortcut for a long time!🎉
Ctrl-Alt-V already works to bring up the "Paste Special" dialog. you still have to specify values only, but it's at least a little faster than the ribbon
00:55 The Data Validation makes now the List as unique list of values - cool ...
Great Catch!
I am using a Personal Microsoft 365 Version (Annual Subscription). This isn't working yet for Me.
These are amazing new features. Very useful. Making Excel more powerful and useful. Thanks for sharing such wonderful tips.
Great overview. Navigation bar and paste values shortcut are the best for me.
Thanx Leila. Great tips. I think I simply like them all 🙂
I love the Automate Tab which works like a Macro. I like its simplicity and effectiveness in saving time.
Thank you Leila for yet another amazing video.
I, however, could not find "Navigation Pane" through the New Search feature. May it's just me.
Thank you Leila for sharing wonderful tips. I do not see search menu option in my excel version. Do we need to enable it?
I like the use of spill ranges into power query! To copy and paste removing formula, I select the range, right the any edge or border, drag away and return to the same location. A popup appears with selections and select copy here as values only!
Loved all of them. I also noticed a Python function in your Excel ribbon. Could you please tell us more about that?
That also caught my eye - keen to know as well
Out now about month later: Introducing Python in Excel
Hi Leila,
Thanks for the great work. Appreciated
My pleasure!
Excel keeps improving. It has no limit!
Agree! It's difficult to keep up.
I loved Excel from the very beginning.

Leila, let Microsoft know to improve the Lambda function

Superb. Explained Nicely too.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
Well that search feature is pretty awesome I must say..

Thank you (again) Leila, still incredibly helpful as ever...
Capturing the data in Power Query editor from a spilled array is the best thing so far!
👍
Excellent! Thanks for the great tips!
I will definitely be using the script tool
Nicely done Leila! As well as I know Excel, I always learn something new from your videos - well done!!!
Thanks Leila. I did not use the "search menu" yet. Just tried it. You can type "Form" to use this (hidden in the menu) . That's nice. But this does not work for "Camera" (also not in the menu).

Macros (VBA) cannot be executed on Excel Online, Office Scripts can, on both Desktop and Online
