@@underdog2400 Specialized hasn't reached out to me, so it won't be anytime soon. But I am editing a video where I compare the Velotric Packer 1 against the popular Aventon Abound. It's a head to competition. Should be out this week.
Really enjoyed your review of this cargo bike you didn't excellent job I just wonder why don't more cargo bites come with rear suspension in fact very few of them come with front suspension but this one does and now it's nice to see keep up the good work brother You're keeping the e bike community informed thank you
Thanks for the kind words! I don't think you can make this a full suspension bike and keep the weight capacity up there. I truly don't think these kind of bikes are made to go long distances... although, I will be trying that out in a future video (with weight of course).
Seeing reviews on Velotric products is bittersweet to me… They are the company that got me into e-bikes, but I abandoned them for Aventon after horrible customer service experience. Purchased a Discover 1 in October of 2022 and it was great for about 6 months, then the tail light got stuck on so after customer service back and froth they sent me a new motor controller (and asked me to return the old one to China and for me to pay for shipping, which I didn’t do). Worked great for about a week and then the bike lost all power all together. I contacted them again only to be sent a Google Drive video trying to show me that my battery was probably not flush (I am certain it was not the battery). After I told them I had tried everything they, in so many words, basically told me, “Good luck, you’re on your own!” Even though the bike was fully under warranty. I sold the bike at a loss and upgrade to an Aventon Level.2 and am insanely happier with that company and product. With the release of the Thunder series and now their cargo series, it seems like Velotric is heading it the right direction, but my experience was so bad I simply cannot recommend them. If the company is more interested in getting your money and providing no support after that, then I simply refuse to support that company.
I ordered an Aventon Abound cargo bike, I’m getting mine from a local dealer who will service my bike, I’ve been really pleased with the service for my previous Aventon Sinch.
I’ve had my Discover 1 for 8 months and 1000 miles with no problems. But I understand your frustration. This guy sounds like a salesman. Too giddy for me. 😂
Yikes. Sorry to hear that happen to you. I have had to use the Velotric customer service a couple times and I didn't have the same experience as you did. Aventon is up there in bike quality, I enjoy reviewing their bikes as well.
@@dandydon6049 I can't help it. I get excited about these bikes. Can't win them all. Thanks for watching (even if it was partially)! Some people like you, some people don't. Enjoy the ride!
I just recently got the Abound. This looks like a very nice option to it. Although I do like the Abound slightly more. They're extremely similar with the Abound just having a tiny bit more (battery, torque, turn signals; to name a few). I do however really like the 8 gearing on the Packer. The 7 speed on the Abound is just enough to get you to 20-21, then it's just ghost. The Abound is capped at 20 with no option to go higher, which is extremely disappointing. I like the built-in lock with the in-frame bag on the Packer. I wish the Abound's had one, but zipper locks are fine, just annoying. The integrated Find My is really nice, but I don't have Apple devices, so it's not super useful to me. All in all, it's a very nice cargo bike that is a little less spendy than the Abound. About $1800 vs $2200... it's tough. Abound is currently coming with a 2nd battery (no cover though... and you'd have to lug it around). Tough choice for those in the market for sure.
I would agree. Plus the abound has panniers and currently Velotric does not. So that may be a factor as well. Although, I can confirm that the Aventon Abound panniers do fit on the Packer.
@@scotthardesty ah, I was leaning towards picking up an Abound soon, but this just came out so I'm a bit torn. I do like that this one has a higher weight capacity in the cargo area than the Abound so that a heavier adult can fit there too. if you could share which you'd recommend between the two, that'd be helpful! thanks for the video :)
@@danahn All I can say is that I will be using the Packer instead of my Abound to do my errands. The bigger front tire makes a world of difference. I was given the wrong info on the Packer and have learned that it is a cadence sensor instead of the torque (not happy that I have told people the wrong info), but for now, it's the packer for me.
Awesome bike the 4-piston hydraulic brakes to the UL certification to the passenger safety features really shows me that they care about customer safety I'm actually looking for a cargo bike to take/pickup my daughter from school grocery runs etc and I think this is it , excellent review as always!!
Hey Scott! I love how much fun you have during your reviews haha! Too many serious UA-camrs out there, especially for something as fun as testing eBikes! ;)
@@scotthardesty Wow, that is high praise! It really looks like Velotric played around with the Abound and decided exactly how they‘d counter. Still excited for that video and the Go review next.
Well, it looks like they sourced their parts from the same place. Bikes are starting to take on car R&D. Much like Chevy trucks and GMC trucks are basically the same thing with different badges. This even has Lectric's cadence and torque sensor "mashup" technology.
Dude this is awesome. We started with Velotric Discover 1’s. Now we have Velotric, Ride1up cafe cruisers and Aventon Venture 2. Been looking for a cargo type bike and think I’m sticking with Velotric. As it appears I can put medium basket along with child seat on same bike. What’s your thoughts on both configurations for the rear?
I have the medium basket as well. It was for the Go and does only take up half the back. I don't know how long the child seat is but if you can put both on there, that would be a killer setup.
Looks like the price difference between this and the Nomad gets you the four piston brakes, Apple My, integrated brake light, and better cargo options. Any reason, other than price and styling, to get the Nomad?
Can you confirm is a torque sensor and not cadence? Their website says cadence sensor. Is the power proportional to how much force you put down and does it lurch forward from start like a cadence bike normally would?
Now you have me questioning whether this is a torque or cadence sensor. I can swear I had notes saying torque sensor from Velotric but I can't seem to find it now. I even looked at the bike and can't tell if it is. I will get you an official answer from Velotric. I will feel so bad if I am wrong and it is not a torque sensor.
@@scotthardesty I would get it right now if it was. Really excited about this one since it seems to have all the right features. The discover 1 is cadence sensor so if it’s based on that one (H75 platform) then probably same. Does it feel like the motor kicks in right away versus responding to how hard you are pedaling? I would think the difference between this and the Abound would be pretty evident, but I haven’t ridden either. The wife is not a fan of the Lectric XP jerkiness though…
@@akarpy as I wait for the answer, I can tell you that there is no jerkiness at all. This thing takes off smoothly (as I show in the video). I am starting to feel that it is a cadence sensor but because of how it is setup, it doesn’t launch out of the gate. As soon as they tell me I will respond.

Stops better with more weight because the rear wheel isn't skidding. More traction = More stopping power.
