- This is Brandy's demo of the song 'Louboutins', originally sung by Brandy until she was dropped by her label Epic Records and then it was given to Jennifer Lopez and released as her single from her new album "Love?".
Which version is your favourite? Personally I love both versions.
My first time hearing this and I love it HOWEVER this shows Brandy can sing on any track...

I love Brandy way more than I love J.Lo and her version was okay, but with this particular song it suits J.Lo so much better... Nothing against Brandy, I mean, Kylie Minogue for example said it herself when she was asked about if she ever regretted turning down Britney's Toxic; One person doesn't fit the song like another one does....
Ruben van de Put Exactly. The song suits J Lo's brand... as a very glamorous and well to do woman who doesn't need to wait around for a man's affections. Brandy is more nuanced and deep than just that
I agree. The song actually suits and fits JLo better in my view.
Brandy's was just a demo though, J. Lo's a completed track so of course it will sound better.
I love JLo's version and all but I MASSIVELY prefer Brandy's deep soulful vocals singing this song. I wish Brandy would sing this song again. 😍
I like the lower key on Brandy's version. I also don't know why they kept Brandy on the background in J Lo's track. Wonder if Brandy got credited

The fact that I’m still listening to this in 2019. Brandy sang it way better without even trying. Her tone, runs and riffs, voice choices and placements, pitch, timbre made this song way more colorful than J.Lo’s 🤷🏿♂️#Louboutins2019

Brandy is one of my favorite singers of all time but I think this song was a better fit for J-Lo. Brandy's voice is almost overqualified for this because she has so much depth and warmth to her voice. The song is a club song and the way J-Lo sings it is a bit yelly and high pitched which sounds like a party girl just yelling in the club how she is over her man. That's also what sells the song... playing it in a club and girls yelling along how they are over their man. Brandy is a better vocalist but this song isn't really made for a vocalist to shine.

This isn't even a discussion. Of course J LO has the nicer little version...this isn't Brandy's style. She does REAL music. Not about being 'From the Block' and throwing on overpriced shoes. Jennifer is entertaining and it's fine if you like her more. But to say she is a better singer? Laughable at best.

@dannii5585 Like i said, i like Jennifer, but this is just a foolish argument. Brandy is HEAVILY respected by every artist in the music industry for her impeccable vocals and harmonies/AD-libs. NO ONE does it better. J-LO is respected for being a great business woman and entertainer. There is a difference.

I love hearing that Brandy wrote this and would have been amazing as a single for herself. However, i do appreciate JLo's key variation and the fact you can tell Brandy wrote this specifically for her. In the right key, its extremely Miami and Latin infused and why wouldn't anyone want to see J strutting down the street in some skin tight jeans with Red Bottoms slightly catching your eye??

I love Brandy but this isnt very good compared to JLo version. Brandy has an R&B voice and the song is a pop sound. Probably why Brandi chose not to use it.

Daniel x She naturally has a low voice. I think a low voice on a woman can be sexy and mature (like Toni Braxton, Sara Vaughan, Amy Winehouse). On this track she sounds more assertive singing in mostly chest voice, which makes sense cause she's feeling
neglected from her "part time lover". Very conversational. If you have something to say, you're gonna use your chest voice. As for the monotone thing, it's the auto tune. If you notice it, in a voice, they sound like automatons. It takes away the warmth from the sad. I hate that.

Hundred Auto tune cannot fix bad singing. It is a tool that can correct the pitch of a sung note, but it doesn't make one a singer. You still have to know how to sing. Case in point: Kim Kardashian's music video (shudder).

Brandy asked for an “Unconditional Release”, which means she left Atlantic voluntarily. Brandy was dropped from Epic after senior management changed, but stayed with Sony hence RCA (2011-2014). She’s now an independent artist voluntarily!
