I have an '81 Tokai ES-100 that I put OX4's in. She sounds much better than Gibson standards and so close the old 60's ones that I'm happy. The early pre-82 Tokai's are the bomb.
1985, I’m having a 1985 Gibson Pre-Historic and maybe the same month I was. Also a 1985 Tokai TLC-60. Still searching for the 80’s Tokai Love rock series, they’re second to none in that time.
The new MIJ Tokais are still incredibly well made. There are quite a few variations and price points, but they can be quite expensive for their top line guitars.
My Ibanez F950 accoustic martin dreadnaught clone, new bought in 1976 is my "lifes guitar". Sounds still like a crystal bell in my ears; came here in '59 .... And yes that year is a golden one in Gibson LP life.
1985, haven't really thought about it but now I'm going to. I have a 1982 Japanese Fender Stratocaster that my Dad bought me back in high school, never going to give that thing up. So at least I own a guitar older than me? Cool video.
Great to see a Tokai demo. I have 2, purchased last year. A Japanese 335 Dot model, and a Traditional (Chinese) Les Paul which I bought as a project during lockdown. The Les Paul I replaced the wiring harness with the 920D LP Split system, I also replaced the pickups with Gibson Custom 57 Split Coil pickups and I replaced the tuning keys with Kluson Locking tuners. I believe the quality on both is far superior to the Gibson equivalents. In regard to the year I was born, 1961, I am not sure which guitar. I have 2 strats, one which is a partscastor which I put together. It would either be a strat or LP. Keep up the videos and tutorials, they are a great help. Also you Helix patches.
1980 birth year. I own a Gibson Les Paul Heritage 80 Elite that rolled off the line in June 1980. Tim Shaw PAFs with a wickedly quilted maple top. The Heritage 80 line are the predecessors of the Prehistoric LPs and the Custom Shop R8/9/0. Killer.
Love the finish on that Tokai! I’ve got a birth year (1999) 30th Anniversary Gibson LP Deluxe in Wine Red. That guitar is my blanket, I’ve used it every Sunday morning since I got it. My, “hope I can some day afford it” guitar is a 1999 Gibson R9
Don’t have a birth year guitar (1985), but mine may very well be from 79 as well. Gibson “The Paul” (made from 78 to 82), used to be my dad’s. I’ve been playing it for almost 20 years
'72 Les Paul from the Norlin era, pancake body. Had the Tim Shaw pickups in it, sold them years ago. My favorite guitar out of all mine (my back hates it though, lol).
Got me a LS50 from '79 today . Cherry burst , like yours ! Les Paul Reborn ,well when I was born the Beatles hit No.1 with Please please me , I guess . Anyway , love it !
It’s funny you ask. I too have been looking for birth year guitar. I’m an 82 model. Still haven’t found the right one. But those Japanese LP’s are def on the radar.
Nice find and demo. I have the same LS80 (either 79 or ‘80), and have added Doyle Coils to a few of my MIJ LPs (Tokai and Burny) and found them after loads of demo comparisons. Are you holding on to the original Goto pickups? I’d be interested if you’re not gonna put them back in after the Doyle’s.
83' Gibson LP custom in silver.....I didn't like the shaw buckers and have bareknuckles in it. I use it mostly for my rock gigs...my worship band I'm all PRS CU24 and SC250. That Tokai sounded great!
I was hoping this would be about a stock Tokai as the title implies, but seems to concentrate on the swapped out pickups. I'm researching Tokai's because I'm interested in the Tokai guitar, pickups and all.
I've always leaned to the acoustic side of the spectrum (I'm DYING to get my hands on your carbon fiber MacPherson Sable...) But I digress. For a birth year guitar, I want a 1966 Martin D-28 (((((swoon)))))
Thx for your vid , i have a ls 120 , 1980 , great guitar , also with otjer paf style pickups , i have these goto pick ups , and are .nt good ? Every body replace them , why ?
Have someone who really knows what they’re doing set it up. Almost all the tuning issues come from the nut (and the angle of the strings that come out of it, but there’s not much you can do about that)
INTRO RIFF! WOW! More of that please!
Love my 1981 1 piece back plaintop , The wood grain is just beautiful

The song tou played is EPIC! Great job.

That 80s Jam is just smokin Brian! More please 😁

That opening jam 🤘

Born in '91, Gibson that year made an anniversary Les Paul, black with P90 style pickups...I want one bad!
wilkinson pickups are amazing for the price, very impressed

My birth year is 1959 … no way can I afford a ‘59 burst! But I do have a 2020 60’s Standard Unburst, so that will have to do.

1970 I would love a guitar from that year, but the longer I wait, the more expensive they’ll get. Maybe a strat? I probably would go for anything!
Got me a LS50 from '79 today . Cherry burst , like yours ! Les Paul Reborn ,well when I was born the Beatles hit No.1 with Please please me , I guess . Anyway , love it !
You both look good for you age! I’ve been loving that guitar.
I’m a 1978 baby and I’ll be looking for one of these as well for my birth year guitar.
Brian, now that you are 42, do you feel like you know the Answer? To “Life, the Universe, and Everything”?
1974...i have an awesome Fender acoustic from that year. My dream guitar from that year would be a Jazz Bass
It’s funny you ask. I too have been looking for birth year guitar. I’m an 82 model. Still haven’t found the right one. But those Japanese LP’s are def on the radar.
danggggg... that intro riff!
Wow nice sounds
Beautiful guitar man!

Where’s the Tanner Yates video? Really curious to see that!
I have a 2019 ls136f tokai and yes they are awesome guitars.Cost £1650 new but a bargain second hand at £1000.🎸🔥👌

I went more in depth on the stock pickups in this video:

I have an 1984 strat. It is the year I was born. We will get old together!
I've always leaned to the acoustic side of the spectrum (I'm DYING to get my hands on your carbon fiber MacPherson Sable...) But I digress. For a birth year guitar, I want a 1966 Martin D-28 (((((swoon)))))
70s-80s Tokai, Greco and Burny’s are really good guitars for the money!
Hi Brian would it be possible to give a run down of the effect pedals and which ones are on when you first started playing in the begging of the video
Thx for your vid , i have a ls 120 , 1980 , great guitar , also with otjer paf style pickups , i have these goto pick ups , and are .nt good ? Every body replace them , why ?
Hi Brian could you give a run down of the effects you used for the tune at the beginning thanks
1986 MIJ Fender Telecaster would be my pick if I ever get to where I could afford one. lol.
Is it for sale? I’m interested
1999 PRS McCarty or Custom 22
Any tips for keeping an LP in tune guys???
Have someone who really knows what they’re doing set it up. Almost all the tuning issues come from the nut (and the angle of the strings that come out of it, but there’s not much you can do about that)
@@worshiptutorials ok thanks. Have an LP tribute which I love but the tuning is unpredictable, have suspected the nut for a while…
Any videos on that rv 500 coming??
Funny you should ask. Planning to upload it tomorrow.
@@worshiptutorials sweet!
I was born in 1958. I would love a 58 Gibson Les Paul. Hey Brian can you spot me six figures?!?!?
Treat yourself!
🤣🤣🤣 Good one!
What do I get from 1998? 😅
Get a PRS! Gibson and Fender both made great stuff in the 90's as well. That's the year I graduated from high school.
Jean jackets and New Balances
LES PAUL GAAAAANG
Haha! I was born in 1947! They weren't making Les Pauls yet!!!🤣🎼🎵🎸
