Jensen Beach, Florida's Treasure Coast

- We spend a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Miami in this laid back Old Florida town: Jensen Beach in Martin County. See you on the road, riding with my RV
Jensen Beach is located in Martin County, Florida, in an area north of Palm Beach and south of Cape Canaveral forgotten by time. Here, life a lot more laid back and high rise condos are few and far between.
In this week’s video we visit a small town in the Treasure Coast of Florida. The name of the coast originated from the loss of the Spanish Treasure Fleet in a 1715 hurricane in these shores. It is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city, being just over two hours away. This is also the Indian River Lagoon area. The lagoon is the large body of water between the barrier islands and the mainland.
We are staying at the Pitchford RV and Mobile Home Park, which is so old school that they don’t even take credit cards. We know it is going to be a great time, exactly what we need. Beside the beach, we also sample the local cuisine, visit a historic site called the House of Refuge, the fishing village of Salerno, and neighboring Stuart.

We love your videos! Thank you Robert & Ileana for providing these videos. God has given you your mission in life. You bring joy, happiness and information into our lives. God bless you both!
Hey Robert, just want to thank you for another great video. I enjoy how you put them together.... you not only show the campground and give it an honest rating, But you also saw the local restaurants, shops, Beach and activities, and rate them....Thank you, and again keep up the good work!!
wow I like that sounds is bringing back memories back home Miami I like them crickets sound they have a lot in West Palm Beach
Your music has a good beat to it, you are full of talent
Robert. You are in my home town. I love Jensen. Lived here for 16 yrs.
Robert, thank you again for taking us on vacation with you!
You're welcome
Boy this video took me back! 3 day weekends, blue crab fishing, looking for hatching sea turtles, good times!
Thanks for the Sunny update.. All the leaves are turning colors here in NE Ohio and we have been getting frost in the mornings so it's nice to see good weather! 😊👍
+RVdaydream I gotta do a fall road trip sometime to see the changing of the colors.
You are right. There is no comparison between this place and the Emerald Coast. EC was like paradise!!!
This place though, is beautiful and definitely has its own charm! Enjoyed watching this video. Waiting for the next....... :)
+Mirized Kapadia Thank you. There's no comparison...but still a decent beach. Very quiet. This Friday we're going back to the Florida Keys
You're right, the Emerald Coast can't be beat. Going down for a week in March, and considering a job transfer to the area sometime this summer. Enjoying your videos. Keep up the good work, and safe travels.
Thank you! We fell in love with the Emerald Coast of Florida
Amazing 🤩
Ignoring Traveling Robert at the bar !!?? Outrageous ! Drinks should have been on the house :) . Thanks for letting us ride along. Good job !
The good old days, not a mask in sight. :)
Yes thank you Robert for all your videos lets me see places i will probably never get to go.
Thank you!
wow look at that turtle that bring back memories I pick up the turtle I help the turtle go cross the street I stop the traffic people so happy I did it I did it in Boynton Beach Florida 2002
Always enjoy your videos, thanks for making them.
The beaches in that area are not the enormous, wide beaches like Daytona, but they are absolutely perfect for sea turtle nesting. I've been privileged to witness several loggerheads laying their eggs. During the season, all you have to do is go out after sunset, and be patient. I had one of the best vacations I've ever had, on Hutchinson Island. Bathtub reef beach is a good snorkeling spot.
Wow! What an amazing review. Thanks for being so thorough! I appreciate your blunt honesty. I have to watch your other videos.
Love it
Blessings to all
❤🇺🇸👍
that Blues band was awesome, any day at the beach is a good day,lol
My father lived there on the Indian River for twenty years. Boating, fishing, and beach life is what there is to do. Not really too many good places to eat at all and can get boring as far as other stuff to do. Have to drive down to West Palm and Boca to upgrade to better activities and nightlife.
The mobile home park you mentioned "was still under construction" used to be pristine, but was likely damaged by the 2004 hurricane season in which two hurricanes hit Jensen and Stuart that summer. The entire place was wrecked tremendously. I was there picking up rubble and getting the place back in order. The road to Bathtub Reef beach was completely washed out and away and you could not even drive out there. The Holiday Inn hotel on Jensen Beach was completely gutted out by wind and rain and was abandoned for years following.
Thank you for sharing. Love your accent
great video robert like always. it shows you love to go in the water alot just watch out for those jellyfish and sharks along the coast.
Love the honest opinions you gave in this one Robert.
+RVing Illustrated Thanks Brian!
I love your show....especially the Florida trips, even though i live in FL and visit these places, its still awesome to watch your travels!!!
Thank you!
Great job with the video Robert. would love to see the entire journeys from the beginning starting with packing till the end when you reach home.
+funguy73 Maybe I'll make a more detailed one soon. Thanks!
Great Video Rob looks like a really nice place to get away to
+MICHELLE DALTON Yes it was very relaxing.
I still prefer Hallandale Beach Florida more it’s a beautiful city with a growing communities and businesses and a good nightlife.❤
Thank u for the video!!! 😀👍🏻
thanks for some Florida sunshine, i'll get me some Jan & Feb.
loved the tour.
+SKPjoe Coursegold Hey, you're welcome
I really enjoy your road trips. You make me wish I owned in RV and I love your opening song. It's great.
Love Mulligans, great fried clams there,,,thats weird they close at 9:30... cheers, and safe travels!
+Mark B. We went back on another trip and it was great. Maybe there was nobody there and they decided to close early.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. I am going there tomorrow and needed to know what to expect
+Matilda Lucas You're very welcome

Lived there when in 20s
Me too!

You're welcome. Very nice area. I have to go back soon.
another top notch video mate.
+Ray Sater Thank you mate
Great video and narrator. You sound just like Ricardo Montiban.
Hope you enjoyed it here! Love living here!
Love me some Jensen, having a home constructed there, can't wait to relocate and enjoy the bar closing at 9:30 pm :)
Nice review of the Treasure Coast, I lived in Jensen Beach for a few years while we were building the Nuclear Power Plant, if you would of drove north on A1A you would see the power plant, they have daily tours there, also if you are looking for an awesome meal,go to the City Marina Tiki Bar in Ft. Pierce, its on the mainland side right off of U.S.1, the food there is absolutely amazing.
+sc1212able Thank you. Been to that Tiki Bar in Ft. Pierce. Wasn't impressed. Maybe next time I'll do the power plant tour
Yes, Tiki bar not all that.
Nice one
You are hilariously honest. We just moved to PSL and are looking for a few nice spots to visit nearby. Thank you for the thorough video.
My hometown :)
wow that's stage remind me Bayside in Miami🤔
Very interesting. Beautiful place.
thanks so much for the upload, super nice as usual....
Excellent vlog.
OK now Mr. Robert. My husband is ready to "get the net." Every night I am howling laffing at ur vids. I started cracking up at the not too good brat sammich and did not have a break through fly birdie fly! That was not fair. It's covid time so the crazy bus could come get meh. LOL Enjoy ur vids so much.
Definitely agree for Jensen Beach being nothing compared to Emerald Coast by the looks of it! Nice video, the turtle crossing was funny! Hah! :)
Florida is gorgeous. Im watching one of your videos, Robert
At the time you were there with the toxic algae blooms the water even up to Jensen Beach was bad. Bathtub beach is very close to the inlet and I’m surprised it was that clear during the blooms. I’m a stand up paddle boarder and go all over the treasure coast for paddles but not during that time. The blooms also hurt the tourism industry that’s why it looked deserted. Summer is the slow season for tourism too.
We were in Florida in December and went to Jensen Beach. We seen a guy scuba diving looking for treasure but all he found was a dog leash. Still a nice beach to relax at and walk around.🏖
That would have been a good idea
+Travelingrobert you should do a drive in Miami or a day in my life in Miami it would be interesting to watch I hope you can don it because I'm am really looking forward to seeing it
I believe the name of the band is mollycops best regards. Your vid are awsome
Thanks! I'll make a note of that, maybe put them in the description.
WooW Good You Rock Man ;)
Thanks!
Lol I live here it’s funny that I’m watching this
Interesting! I didn't realize I had watched this already and then saw my comment below about my Marathon FL trip (it was awsome!). I came here today because I'm booking a trip to Port St Lucie next summer. Seems like this video draws me to vacation destinations. LOL!
Hmmm, cool.
You wanted to know the name of the band....It's our good friend Joel DaSilva. A great musician and wonderful person. He plays a lot of venues in Fl. In the past he has opened up for BB King and featured at the Montreal Jazz Festival. You can find him on Facebook. We have travelled many miles just to hear him play. Good musicians appreciate good musicians. By the way, my wife and I really like your music and your videos.
You rock
Very Good Job :)
+Rafsan1983 Thank you!
How close is this to Sebastian? My Sister lives there and it’s by the Treasure coast I need to find a place by her in Sebastian. Hopefully one with a laundry that’s not much over 650 a month if possible
You have a good life.
First time love your videos
Thank you!
I'll stil know Flórida. It's beautiful!
Wow I’m from the Gulf Coast panhandle sugar white sand so I’m not crazy about that east side of Florida. You need to do the Emerald Coast!!!!
By the way, maybe you can do separate cooking videos. We love your Picadillo! Please do this soon. I’m sure you’ll get tons of views. Traveling Robert’s RV Recipes!
I commend you bro, I lived in the treasure coast for a whole year (I live in Port saint Lucie which is ten miles away from the beach of Jensen Beach) and let me say I always love enjoying the site of the lagoon, and then head to the Beach, it's beautiful of course, the reason I came here to Florida in general was to get away from the winters, see? I'm from Oklahoma (Lawton)
+dakentaijutsu2010 Thank you. Never been to Oklahoma...but I will at some point.
TravelingRobert my advice, visit Oklahoma during spring, or mid fall, the weather will be nice and warm
We're heading to Marathon FL on Nov 9 from Ontario Canada. Can hardly wait! No snow here yet but the temps are definitely getting cooler.
+Floridafanatic28 Cool. My next video is about Marathon.
I'm looking forward to it! 😃
Thank you♡ I enjoyed this. I'm a new rv owner... so I'm trying to decide where to go
You're welcome
I am re watching this video while sitting in my RV at Ocean Breeze in Jensen Beach. Still under construction.
+Debra Zotti Oh...will they ever finish it
A very nice video. Do you think you will ever do a video where you show us what and how you pack for your trips? (food, clothing, basic essentials, etc) Also, will we ever hear from the lovely Ileana? I would like to hear her or is she camera shy? :-)
One thing amazing about Florida is it can go from a torrential downpour to straight sunshine
+JD That's right
How I hate traffic circles and was amazed how you maneuvered them with and without Minnie Teenie. Have you been to Vero Beach?
I haven't stayed in Vero Beach yeat
@@TravelingRobert Thanks Robert; looking at that city for retirement.
37 degrees in CT right now. We are heading to Cape Coral too in November. That is where my Dad lives.
+Debra Zotti I was just near Cape Coral. Check out Matlacha Island when you go there.
TravelingRobert I have visited there. My sister has a house right near Pine Island Road. Did you camp at Sugar Sandy Beach?
Yes we did. We got site #1 right by the water.
Just got back from Jenson Beach and Hutchison Island. You are right everything closes by 10pm! We loved the place. Just found your channel. Great video!!!
Jamaican patties I miss that
You should check Out Tybee Island. Our beach looks like mud water
Oh Tybee island is on my list for sure... and I love Savannah
Traveling Robert Oh thank you. I don’t go to tybee often I got to Hilton head.
The mud water thing was a joke. Our beaches are pretty clean. The water is colored by the marsh.
Nice.
Hi, was curious about the weight of your trailer and tow capacity of your SUV. I have an SUV that can haul 5000 pounds and your trailer looks like the perfect size. Thank you.
This one is 3000 dry
What were the triangle stakes in the sand protecting?
aguyandhiscomputer turtle eggs
Lisa Dalry ok, thought it was some animal but surprised they didn't mark off the entire area until hatching season was complete. They do that here in Michigan for a specific bird that lays eggs in the dunes on Lake Michigan.
aguyandhiscomputer
if they closed off the entire area you wouldn't be able to go to any beaches, the nests are everywhere during the summer. Most people respect the turtle nests and the park service folks keep a close eye on them.
Turtle eggs spend time under the sand developing into baby turtles. Usually there will be metallic mesh around the nest under the sand, to prevent digging animals from disturbing. All they need is a small area to protect from digging until the hatch. They are not like birds that stick around to feed the babies at the nest. Hatch occurs at night and is called a "boil" because the sand will look like it is boiling as all the babies dig out at once.
What Robert thought was baby turtle's hole was actually a ghost crab hole, a major predator of the babies. It is unusual to see that baby heading out to sea in daylight. Lucky you! Possibly a late hatcher or one who lost his bearings at night.
💖💖💖💖
AWW there's a baby seaturtle 23:45
Nice weekend trip, and as far as the band goes, You should have went down and sat in on a set.. When are you going to get IIeana to join in? That might add a Nice twist to your channel.
+redjaguar100 She doesn't really like to be in front of the camera.
I can truly understand that... That's why its taken this long to start my own channel.. In the mean time I'll just enjoy yours.
Robert how well has your SUV held up pulling the RV all those miles?
+Rob James Old Kia is so well broken in by now...I think it is actually performing better.
Is this your first episode under "Traveling Robert" ?
Hi, I believe it was a little earlier. I changed the intro for the 2016 Tampa RV show, and I dropped all references to Road Nomad except for the sticker on the back of the trailer right before the Chicago trip ua-cam.com/video/mGY6pOMUnY0/v-deo.html
@@TravelingRobert how many times have you changed the name over the years, I believe the earlier videos were named something about Robertico. Keep it up, love the way you explain all the landmarks.
Do you know of any mods to add a thermostat to the ac unit? Having the fun on all the time is bad since it is so loud. Thanks.
+Robert Ray Actually I have become accustomed to the sound but yes it is loud. I am sure there is a way to rig a thermostat. I've seen them in more expensive units where the A/C is basically the same.
Any word on whether any of these locations were damaged by last weeks hurricane?
+Eric Hanaway I don't think it was too bad in this area but just a little north it got gradually worse as the eye got closer to land.
Its cleared up alot since then. I just went last week and going again tmrw. And water was as clear as could be.
Mulligan's closes at 2 a.m. and if people don't start arriving there till around 11 p.m. who goes out to a bar at 8 p.m.?
I live in Jensen Beach and your comments are not true they are your opinion and I don't think you should make comments like you do. I personally have been to Miami many times over the past 40 years and believe me Jensen Beach is Paradise compared to dirty Miami, like I said my opinion just like you gave yours
I love Jensen Beach.
And I have seen all what you say. I never Hung out in that RV Park. I love Jensen downtown. Love the beach. Port Salerno is beautiful. People in this area are very friendly. I have always enjoyed myself in Jensen. I live on Port St Lucie. They are building it up little by little. I love the Treasure Coast. Hope Sound, Stuart beautiful. And I love the Marina in Fort Pierce.
Xmas at the Marina in Ft. Pierce is FANTASTIC. EAT AT THE TEE-KI BARS. OOOPS SPELLED IT WRONG. ARCHIES AND THE Hurricane down by the jetty is Fun Fun FUN!!!!
IF YOU WANT ITALIAN go to GIGI'S in Jensen. FANTASTIC. Yrs ago went for spaghetti at Mulligan's and it was awful. I'm sure it has changed. Other meals were good. Ice cream place in Jensen is overrated. Charge too much for too little. Go to JAY'S ICE CREAM ON MIDWAY PORT ST. LUCIE/FT. PIERCE LINE. THE BEST ICE CREAM anywhere. And Good God Almighty you get HUGEEEE portions. Home made and there are lines to get in. One scoop equals three regular. Seriously.
Thank you for all the recommendations. Hope to go there again soon
hi robert,
have you ever been to cedar key onthe west coast of fl, we almost booked last year but may try this year, would like to get some info on it that`s if you`ve been thanks paul/mandy
Haven't been there but it is on the list.
ok thanks, looks small but nice place
wasn't this from 2 weeks ago???
+Bigdog Bulldog I was originally going to publish this almost 2 weeks ago...but then we had that hurricane scare so I decided to postpone. I released it last Friday night.
Sailfish point, sand bar…
There wasn't a cloud in the sky today up here in Michigan so the joke is on you.
Honestly, Michigan winters suck.
Born & raised in Michigan. Been all around still like it here. But have to enjoy winter sports & crispy air to make it though winter !! UP in winter, now there's an adventure.
moved to FLORIDA... from U.P.... Do not miss it....-40 winters ...brrrrrr.. summer all the time...that's what's up!! lol

Went there the water was neon green. Beaches shut ugh.. They have lake effect rain. Always grey can't see your toes in the water if you dare. The river is full of bacteria that people get gross infections from. People from the lake area are Florida man..
I used to think the water was warm in Florida beaches.
SocratesOfHealth the water is warm along the beaches on Gulf of Mexico. Especially Tampa beaches
Actually the North recently got temperatures in the 70-80 range. Yeah, I know this video is a week old.
Even older, actually. I was planning on releasing this 2 weeks ago, but then we had Hurricane Matthew so I decided to postpone. I'm glad it hasn't been too cold.
Actually, all pictures but somewhat blurry
You dont wash mushrooms because they contain alot of water
+Tamara safira Ommel Good to know, thanks.
Yeah, I washed them once because the packaging said to, then I didn't have the way to get rid of all the water almost ruined a dish. I suspect they say this so you don't sue them.
