I am glad that my instructions were acceptable for anyone willing to give it a try! I could not justify paying the dealership what they quoted for this relatively easy repair.
Had to replace the passenger side. Got the part off Tasca just like you did and at the end of the sell I put in my VIN Number in so they could confirm fitment before they shipped the part. Good thing because I had originally selected the wrong part. Only other advise I could give is that all the nuts and bolts in mine were a 10mm. I used a set of plastic door panel knives that I had from another project. I got them from Amazon, but a small screw driver would work like you had. I just didn't want to take a chance on scratching the inside of my panel. My part (Passenger Side) for a 2015 Ford Flex with appearance package was DA8Z-17682-DA.
Jon, thank you. I can't fix anything, but I followed your instructions and actually did this. Saving the money was great (I bought my mirror on ebay from a salvaged Flex $200 free shipping), but the real reward was doing this. Thanks again.
Thank you very much for this complete, informative video. I ordered from Taska and changed out the mirror myself, appropriately so since I'm the one who hit the garage door as I backed out..... The mirror was changed and door panel replaced in 35 minutes!!! However, it took me another 30 minutes to get the skullcap off the old mirror. Never the less, the whole repair was made in little more than an hour!
thanks for posting this, my wife did this to our 2012 Ford Flex, exact same procedure. the part that we ordered had the back on it but the Finish was wrong so had to pry the one off the new unit and install our old one as you showed. very helpful thank you again
Thank You for posting this vlog! I could claim my wife did the same thing but I divorced her 20+ years ago! Although the mirror is supposed to kick back out of the way it did not! The replacement had no instructions at all and your video was perfect no five hundred dollar invoice from the dealer !
Greatly appreciate this video post!!! Saved me a lot of time and aggravation! I see no way to get the top painted cover off without totally destroying the old mirror. Like you I was replacing the whole mirror so after using a hacksaw and some large cutters I was able to get the cover to release off of the old mirror. That alone took as long as the whole removal?!? I too got the replacement from Tasca which had a price half of what the local Ford dealer wanted. But they did not have it in stock and did not inform me of that until I had placed the order. So it took about two weeks before I had the mirror. Thanks again!
To remove the "tough" panel behind the door latch, first hold the latch open. Then insert the screw driver into the left side and pry. Also, my wire connector was stuck due to rust. Insert a thin screw driver along the top of the male connector and gently pry it out.
Thanks for video. Some asshole crushed my side view mirror. was thinking of replacing it as well. Can you provide the product info or number you used to purchase item. thanks
Mine is a 2013 flex passenger side. My plastic is fine. Motor got ripped in half on impact and glass shattered. Ran off the road by a drunk driver. I’m about to attempt a repair. Ford wanted 700 to fix it. F that. 😂

Great video with excellent detail. I have now used this twice and for the exact same reason. I bought my latest on 1A Auto for about $120.
Thank you, I am glad you found it helpful!

Hopefully everyone in you car was okay.
Andrea here is the part number for the driver side mirror that I purchased through Tasca, DA8Z-17683-CA
+Jon Hodgson Thanks. Does your side mirror have the sensor in it?

Why didn’t you complete the video by showing ho to get the panel off the top of mirror?
