I am single with no children, and these Love Hour episodes slap me in the face with truth EVERY SINGLE WEEK! This episode specifically shows me just how important it is to continue taking inventory not only of who I am, but also of who made me who I am and who made THEM who they are. God is so good! I wasn't going to watch this until later, but He knew I needed to start my day with some serious self-reflection. Melissa, you and your husband are doing God's work here. Trust and believe me.
    Signed,
One of the MANY people you two help!

I love everything that was said but what spoke to me the most was at 31:00 when she was explaining how her mother was a victim of identity theft. I am battling with that right now with trying to find a balance being a full time working mother of 5, a wife, a children’s church teacher, and dealing with my family. It’s almost over whelming at times and stresses me out and I ended up being the one neglected. I was told by my counselor to start purposely doing nice things for myself and focusing on myself without feeling bad or thinking about neglecting my husband or my kids.

Now, that's ONE THING that I was really grateful for in my parents' marriage... they really encouraged us to LEARN about our future spouses - their full story (parents, grandparents, siblings, etc.) It was soooo valuable! So, when certain things happen in our lives now, we are able to move forward, understanding that certain things come from a deeper place! YOU HAVE TO HAVE THESE CONVERSATIONS!!! Pre-marital counseling really helped to bring that level of deliverance and freedom to us!!! I agree that it helps you to trace the root of behaviors and not only patch/band-aid situations.

It’s that emotional diagnosis of pre-existing conditions Kev talked about. It was so vital to my suppressed emotions, I wasn’t aware of how much emotional baggage I had until then. It's been a minute since I last caught up with you two on the Love Hour...what an insightful episode to return on. I especially liked the comment Melissa made about extending grace to her parents for what they did not know, yet tried to provide their children as we grew up. I am finding myself struggling, honestly, in doing so since my mother had to move in with myself, and my brother. This really helped me to put my frustrations in trying to understand my mom, and past decisions made in a better perspective. I also appreciate the comments on what we learn from our parents by their actions. Very self reflective episode. Thanks for sharing.

I really enjoyed the Love Hour today. Especially the part about how your kids pick up on your behavior and act the same way. I thought back and realized that my sons have done that in the past. That was an eye opener! I also liked how Kev said he misses you and likes you. How sweet! I also ordered the Native Coconut vanilla deodorant at 20% off and I'm looking forward to trying it! Great podcast today!
