We have a super tasty, super technical, super AGGRESSIVE bike for your viewing pleasure today, folks.
The AMAZING 1290 Super Adventure from KTM. Wow, this thing is incredible. It is so unassuming, and the power delivery is unlike anything I have ridden. Quiet, simple, nimble, dripping in class-leading bling, and, quite frankly, just bloody well awesome!
Have a look, and see how I get on. More on this bike to follow (and, of course, the Wildbad Chippy Run)
Thank you to KTM for the loan.

Hi. Watched your test ride on the new GS 1250. I rode the Rallye version and while it IS a big improvement on the last model and has 20 BHP more, it is still not a patch on the KTM 1290 (165 BHP!!). The KTM would be a much better transition from the XR as you would not lose out on power/acceleration (you'd be bored with a GS after a while!!!) ;-)

I just traded my 2018 Africa Twin Adventure Sports today for a 2020 1290 Super Adventure R. I will miss the sound and partly the looks of the Honda, and, I fear, the reliability (had absolutely zero issues in 2 years). But I was just so bored with the 95 lazy horses on the AT.
The KTM is a riot though. Kinda feels like the gen 1 Hayabusa I had, but toned down and tamed. Still lots of fun, but it won't try to kill you every chance it gets :)

@@jackolbean4765 Yes, any bike model will have lemons. And common faults on brand new models. My Africa Twin never had a single issue. It just worked 100%, for 2 years (until I traded it in, for a KTM). Hopefully I will be as lucky with the 1290 SAR. The older KTM's were a bit unreliable but motorcycle manufacturers cannot afford a bad reputation these days and KTM certainly have been getting it right these past 5 years or so. I have a 2015 1290 Super Adventure T (the white one!) and thankfully have had absolutely no problems during the past year of ownership. They are awesome bikes - much better than the GS or GSA (i've owned both BMWs before getting the KTM) and the extra horsepower (165BHP!!) is great when carrying pillion and luggage. They have that "excitement" that I missed on the GS and leave most other bikes in the dust! They are fabulous looking machines too and my white T model with a few KTM orange "farkles" always attracts admirers.
