Definitely a synth with it's own distinct character. A sort of granular quality, like static electricity has built up around the soundwaves. And a coldness, a physical and emotional distance. It's majestic, but uncaring, like a mountain range.
Sacred Synthesis I do have to agree that there is something I hate about the 12's oscillator section. I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm a fan and owner of a 6, two Tetras, and a Tempest, but a month of owning the 12 and I couldn't wait to get rid of it even though there were some amazing sounds to be made with it.
The Prophet 12 has a unique quality that makes you turn your head when you hear one. You will however have a hard time creating classic analog sounds on it; this is because the timbre of this machine floats somewhere mid air while classic synths are grounded. Even the prophet 08, which still sounds a bit metallic in comparison to a prophet 5 sounds warmer and more meaty. This does not mean that the prophet 12 is bad. I't just very different. Don't consider replacing your classic synths with this one. Personally I love how the p12 feels very balanced in the mix. A lot of people forget that a bass guitar, or other instruments in the mix will provide enough bottom. So most of the time you will cut some low end of the synths to make them sit well in the mix.
I love how us syntheads are reduced to talking about the quality of hi tech synth sounds as if they are cavemen admiring a small campfire lol. Very fun seeing everyone use the words warm and cold and umming and ahhhhing. (Not a criticism just an observation!)
Thnak you! In the video credits say RX-100 but I think that's wrong. Sony RX-100 is the camera I am mostly using but in this case it was probably a Nikon D-750 with 35-70 2.8 Nikkor ;-)
yes and no yes: you will find everything you need very easily without any trouble. no: when you in one section that is more complex e.g. VCF then you have step through several pages until you will find your parameter which is okay and not too compicated -- but when you need to tweak the LFO inbetween and you need to come back to your paramter then you will have to go again through all the pages. There is, unfortunately, no memory for that and no way to customize the start page of the singlesynth sections. That's a big disadvantage compared to the keyboard model. And this is, probably, intentional!
I use the Soundtower desktop editor, which is amazing. You can dig in deep really quickly, plus you can use the software to morph between presets, which you can't do from the hardware. The possibilities are only limited by what you are capable of. They also have the software in Plugin form, so you can operate the P12 in VST mode from your DAW. www.soundtower.com/prophet12/index.htm
either I'm confusing the question or you're mistaken. isn't he asking if you can modulate the wavetables to phase from one into another with the LFOs? because the ability to phase between wavetables is one of the reasons why they gave the Prophet 12 so few and you are able to modulate that with LFOs.
you can blend between 2 digital waveforms as in the new Korg Prologue, but none of theses synths use wavetables, wavetables are serieses of different waves that can be blended one into the other linke in Waldorf Microwave: ua-cam.com/video/SV-vcuyrb9o/v-deo.html
Which do you prefer this or rev2? I have jd xa , deepmind12 ,sub37, virus ti2 I heard rev2 's sound like deepmind12 But I am not sure this sound is like virus ti2.
thanks für your feedback! I am not sure though if they sound warmer that OB6's but sure: 4 DCOs with 4 LFOs make a lot of modulation and subtle moving little bits in the sound that make it very lively.
LESINDES keyboard, well for one thing I’m pretty sure the headphone jack is glitched, because it clips pretty easily... or maybe that’s just the way it is. Though tbh I just don’t like the digital oscillators. There’s maybe like 4 sounds I like on the entire board. I’m much happier with my Rev 2. I’m more of an analog guy, just sounds more real to me
@@djcovid-1997 yes, I completely understand and I am sad to hear that the headphone out was noisy. Headphone amps are bad in many synthesizeres. Not too bad for me because I almost never use headphones ;-) The digital oscillators were also the reason why I let mine go again. Still a very powerful machine though!
Yeah it’s weird because on my audio out, it is a lot cleaner. It just kind of makes me upset considering the synth was so expensive... I should refraise though, I don’t hate the synth. There are just a lot of things I don’t like about it... though there are a couple gem sounds I would miss if I parted. I fired her up last night 🤟
I don't recall getting myself into a pod in the vicinity of a monolith near Jupiter headed to beyond the infinite, but here we are...

Sacred Synthesis Carcophony of Electricity is going to be the name of my next album.

I want a blofeld...but this sounds like it can do much of even the wavetable like sounds.
Amazing Synth this is..
There is some fantastic programming here. Nice to hear the P12 sounding musical rather than noisy like a lot of the demos out there.
sounds like the perfect film soundtrack synth pad machine
The more I hear of this synth the more I like it, I have many DSI synths already, but this one sounds different from them in many ways.
Love it I bought two
Wow!

I owned a prophet 08 for a while, and warm is the last word I'd use to describe it.
Eric Fricke Well... I’d say there’s a whole spectrum from cold to warm. And there are definitely synth sounding colder than the 08.

Thank you for this demo, one of the few that make this synth justice. I love mine with its glorious digital oscillators!
Sounds pretty good, love the character of the instrument, ready for that score cue.....cheers man !
Nice video and sweet pad sounds. Thank you! Too bad you did not save the sounds to share or sell.
Love my P12 !
I have THE key version for one of THE best SYNTHESIZER Between two worlds
pure bliss! LOVE IT!
Fantastic, thanks for uploading ;)
Hehe. Nice trippy vid. Vague pads and gratuitously out-of-focus cameras. I love my P12
yes, it is an awsome synth
it sounds sooooo good !!!!
Any chance you have made some of those presets (or some from your 'DSI PROPHET 12 // SEQUENCES" video) available to share via SysEx library?
Nagui, I am sorry but I gave it back and did not save the patches ;-)
Dang!
can you modulate stereo pan of oscillators with LFO ? i think i hear this....
Yes, you can!
Amazing, really nice video also, what camera did you used?
Thnak you!

Thanks! (o;
Lovely
could you share some of the factory patches that you customized?? Thanks!
Luis, I am sorry but I gave it back and did not save the patches ;-)
Is the module easy to navigate as Dave Smith himself claims? I have an OB6 and Im used to have a lot of knobs to play with...

good video
can it modulate the wavetables with enveloppe and lfos like a blofeld or microwave ? to make evolving soundscapes
No, unfortunately not, neither the Evolver not this one does!

Yes it can
are these preloaded sounds ?
Most of them are own creations from the scratch and some are customized presets.
Which do you prefer this or rev2? I have jd xa , deepmind12 ,sub37, virus ti2
I heard rev2 's sound like deepmind12
But I am not sure this sound is like virus ti2.
Why these sound warmer and lusher than ob-6? Awesome
thanks für your feedback!

I hate my P12... selling it on Reverb as soon as this pandemic blows over :P
Why!
Keyboard or desktop?

How much you selling it for?
