My dad was a civil engineer in the 70s/80s. I showed him one of Matt's Polybridge videos and he said "You don't have to do any math to build them? So it's more like architecture then."
In a town where bridges spanned the river, young civil engineer Matt dreamed of crafting the grandest one yet. However, the intricate hydraulic components always stumped him. On a snowy Christmas Eve, three ethereal figures visited: the Ghosts of Engineers Past, Present, and Future. Past showed him the marvels of ancient aqueducts; Present introduced eco-friendly designs; and Future revealed floating structures. Inspired, Eli combined their wisdom, envisioning a Christmas-themed bridge adorned with twinkling lights, resembling candy canes and snowflakes. By morning, the town marveled at a bridge that not only connected shores but also hearts, uniting past traditions with future aspirations. Merry Bridgemas !
Thank you for the intro, Matt! There's no Christmas song that I hate to get stuck in my head than THAT one..... I appreciate you fixing it up for me! Merry Christmas to you and Paddy, Mate!
Nice to see RCE genuinely gertting better at Hydraulics. We mock his skills a lot - (Especially as he is far worse at engineering than most actual architects) - but he still plays this game far better than I ever could. I do have a suggestion for RCE regarding the engineering parody songs, try some Muse or Kasabian?
wow the lyrics for the parody were on point! i’m a musician and a huge fan! so if you ever wanna create like an original bridge song just tell me, i’d be down for sure lmao
I think the bridge at 0:16 is in my city maybe idk it looks VERY similar but most of them probably do. I’m gonna imagine it’s in Iowa with me and be happy lol.
Day 21 of waiting for Matt to upload Mindustry Part 3. Merry Christmas! FFOTD: The block that launches items to other sectors is the Launch Pad, it has 360 hp, is 3 by 3 blocks, needs 350 copper, 200 lead, 150 titanium, and 140 silicon, uses 240 power units per second, has a item capacity of 100 items, and launches every 20 seconds. And yes, as you just heard, you can select a sector to launch items from to other sectors, you need to capture the sector Extraction Outpost to be able to research the Launch Pad.
For your real bridge series, can you do cotter bridge in Arkansas usa? It's got beautiful arches, but no efficient shapes or even triangles. And I think the lack of triangles could be fun for a video. I'll keep posting this comment on your poly bridge series until it happens. Love, peace, and bridges.
So we can confirm that he never reads any of his comments seeing as everyones been telling him how to use hydraulics for like 5 years, yet he still approaches every problem that requires them like a dad doing his daughter's makeup

Them's fighting words

On the first level, the person who did the no hydraulic solution was the same person who did the flippy road solution. Mad respect

Underrated comment
19:35 - Alan just being a legend in having probably the cheapest legit solution possible and then just... That.
that one got at least a 10 second chuckle from me, thinking for once he'd done just a simple solution and then the zoom out to the giant Arch of Dong.
@@MarkoDash Alan is actually really good at the game but his commitment to the memes is legendary

Alan making a beautiful, neat, cheap solution, and then putting a gigantic knob over it is hilarious 😂
He saved cash on non-essentials so that he can put it where it matters.
Merry Bridgemas Matt’ and Paddy. Hope you have a happy bridge filled New Year
You would think by now with the amount of Polybridge Matt has played he would have figured out hydraulics
dont be silly
You'd think as an engineer he'd understand basic trig and lever points
@@theencolony5595 Judging by his career path, it looks like he nailed his statics and didn't do so well in mechanics.
@@phillipsiebold8351 Pretty much
I always love to see Alan’s solutions 😂
Dude is a legend in my book.
That slow Alan reveal at the end was legendary

Here you can see Matt ripping off himself by changing the roads to steel. Such an architect move! Sacrificing the cost for some style points…
