I have the Hohem iSteady M6 for phones with this feature. The little AI module can be turned around for selfie tracking. The AI tracking is pretty cool *when it works.* If it starts getting a little bit dim with the light, forget about it. Only seems to work if the subject is max 15-20 feet away. It will easily lose the subject if the subject turns away for too long. I think if it gained subject reacquisition it would be a lot better. Hopefully it improves more! The M6 seems pretty stable so far in general use. I roll around on inline skates and do a variety of low and high shots which have all been pretty smooth with an iphone 14 max in regular mode.
They need communication between the phone (an app) and the gimbal/camera. That way you could "enter a prompt" - something like on the next photo, follow the little blue bird and maintain focus on him. Blur out the rest. (settings would automatically update - large aperature, for instance, and it will follow the bird and focus on it as you requested). We should ALREADY have this.
Does the tracking only keep you in the middle of the frame or can you use the rule of thirds? Such as keeping your head at the top left/top right third throughout the tracking?
You cannot use slow motion footage to show how good a gimbal performs because slow motion makes everything look good. You are an experienced shooter so I know you are aware of this. This makes your review much less convincing and makes it look like the company paid you to promote this gimbal.
Thank you for your review. I am intrigue with its tracking. I wonder if it’s AI tracking will enhance tracking distance in conjunction with Sony a6700 auto framing tracking feature.
Amazing. This could potentially revolutionarize vlogging - away from wide angle lens to classic formats. Just imagine if the gimble understood simple commands like if the vlogger points with a finger to something and the gimple briefly moves on the object and then back on the vlogger to track again. We could see setups costing few $100s replace a video production crew.
From my experience 6 to 7 meters. And it mainly focus on your face so it will keep tracking you if you spin but not if you stay with your back to the camera. Another issue is there are too many faces in the shot (it could get jumpy)
I saw a video of you talking about the Tamron 11-20mm and here you list the Sigma 18-50mm as your favorite. Between these two lenses. Which do you prefer and think is better?
hi one thing i want to know about the Hohem MT2 before i buy it , is the Ai active tracking system can be controlled from the phone app ? like i want to track a non-human object , or i'm tracking a person during an interview, im not telling him to make a hand gesture, i just to need to mark his face on my phone screen to track him. please let me know i'v watched a dozen videos on UA-cam , no one at all mentioned this point, they all talking about the hand gesture, which is great if I'm making vlogs, but most of the time gimbal users shooting other people not themselves.
I just bought this and its pretty cool id have to say. The software sometimes throws an error and the battery drains pretty quick but I still like it so far.
this is cool. i have one question tho... does the gimbal have to be plugged in to the dslr camera for AI tracking to work? i ask this since my camera (the canon m50 mark two) has usb ports but they are on the right side of the camera. this makes it to where the axis on the gimbal covers up the ports. not allowing me to plug anything in when it is on the gimbal. great video though Arthur.
Thank God AI has no idea I can turn it off. Cool gimbal, something many of us would love to own. Imagine the fun one can have with the auto tracking. Have in home and set it up to track an unknowing person. Could there be a means to connect the Sony auto tracking camera to assist the gimbal to follow a subject? The Sony camera tracking, being superior, could really enhance the gimbal's auto tracking capabilities.
DJI had a gimbal with subject tracking 3 Years ago, but with a DJI tech on the phone, we could absolutely not get it to work. When the Gimbal started vibrating and then jumped off my kitchen table the next morning, I decided its going back to Amazon. Lucky I caught gimbal and camera in mid-air and nothing got damaged.
This is a very useful review. I appreciate you turned of all other stabilization (IBIS, OIS) so we can see just the gimbal performance. I'll be teaming this with a Fuji X-S20 with OIS lenses so performance should be really good.
Thank for the video. I saw this gimbal on Facebook and as i m an actor singer and in 50% of the shooting I m the subject i m very interested in this Tracking function. But at the same time i am concerned about the stabilization. I have at the moment a very large Feiyutech AK4500 is so smooth and precise compared to my previous AK 2000S and it has a remote control handle without the use of the phone. But need a smaller gimbal as i never travel with the AK4500 and end up without gimbal for the camera which i only use hand held or on tripod and up using more my Samsung S23 phone which has wonderful in body stabilization and justvtonopen the wide angle the Moza Gimbal I need a camera Gimbal that can still handle a bit of weight maybe this MT2 or the Zhiyun crane m3s, and wait that the tracking function gets more advanced.
when they figure out do engage without an Ok sign (kind os silly), and upon command from videographer, I will be interested . Looks like a good start in this AI venture
Very good review! However, one more think that I could suggest is.. If you want to give a real sample of stabilization, better not using slow-motion effect. So that everyone will know its real performance.
Why did you decide to show mainly slow motion footage? The slow motion shots in the gimbal review are quite misleading because they make the shot look much smoother than it actually is. Am I right?
It would be great if the AI sensor of this gimbal could track objects Like dji raveneye, we chose the subject or person or objects and the gimbal followed it
This is literally the ONLY FEATURE that I'm waiting on from DJI Gimbals. The Raveneye system is annoying af. Tracking features like this is game changing.
@ArthurR yup! Just thinking of DJI just because they already have decent OLED screens. All they have to do is make the Raveneye system be built into their gimbals. Use their software from their drone app (tracking pple/objects/etc). But any other companies would be welcome 🙏😭
Hi to you and your followers, tried it & still didn't have the same experience like you. Also important when the Hohem senses something wrong (unbalancing or other) it doesn't stop signaling it with a noise like a continuous ding, ding . That's very embarrassing during an event and you can't turned it off ???? Unfortunately.
I love your channel but i hope u wont use so much slow motion to furnish a review about gimbal. With all those slow motion we cant tell how good/ bad the gimbal is in real life.
Why magnetic separate AI attachment ? After visiting brand site- gimbal is $450 (median price) and!! Want the AI? How bout... another almost $300(Canadian mind you/).... THAT IS why a separate magnetic attachment .... don't forgets ...the camera..... yikes....
Can we get a gimbal that is not Hohem or DJI? Irrespective of value, quality, technology and performance, I simply refuse to buy anything Chinese made or from a Chinese owned company. That is not negotiable and if it means not getting into video then so be it. Is there any alternative? Price be damned.
Stick with a good iphone and insta 360 flow this is the first iteration from a brand I’ve never heard of by a guy who got paid. Dji will get there in a half a year and you wont be stuck with a depreciating asset to sell to get the real deal.

Bought it through your link right away after watching you vid.
Tks a lot.
At last an AI that does just fit with a simple and dedicated purpose.
Agree with you on that!
Have been waiting for this kind of feature to be built in in the gimbals. It is a nice start, but needs some work.

A6700 compatible wireless control ?

exactly the same thing I was going to say. Now, I wonder if the loving posts are real.
Even in slow motion camera jitters on this gimbal are very noticeable.
Set playback speed 2x
I mean, even with gimbal, it’s still has jitters.
Get a load of this guy
Seriously??? I just got my M6 last month and now they release this? Cmon Hohem!
Thank you for your review. I am intrigue with its tracking.

Hi...
Is there a budget gimbal as good as this but capable of holding a r6 with a 24-70mm lens?
Amazing. This could potentially revolutionarize vlogging - away from wide angle lens to classic formats. Just imagine if the gimble understood simple commands like if the vlogger points with a finger to something and the gimple briefly moves on the object and then back on the vlogger to track again. That is such a cool feature for a gimbal, A.I. is coming a long way.
What is the distance it will track you to, and will it continue tracking if you turn your back?
From my experience 6 to 7 meters. And it mainly focus on your face so it will keep tracking you if you spin but not if you stay with your back to the camera. Another issue is there are too many faces in the shot (it could get jumpy)
*Gesture Control seems like it's going to be a VERY useful Tool when they release this*
I saw a video of you talking about the Tamron 11-20mm and here you list the Sigma 18-50mm as your favorite.
Between these two lenses. Which do you prefer and think is better?
I want to buy this sensor, give me the site where I can buy from
Could I use my FX30 and the Sirui 24mm on this gimbal with no problem?

Does this tilt automatically with the tracking feature?
what camera and lens did you use to shoot broll in this video?
I just bought this and its pretty cool id have to say. The software sometimes throws an error and the battery drains pretty quick but I still like it so far.
Thanks for the helpful Video. Question: I'm using the Ulanzi F38 quick release system. Is this compatible with the Hohem MT2?
this is cool. i have one question tho... does the gimbal have to be plugged in to the dslr camera for AI tracking to work? i ask this since my camera (the canon m50 mark two) has usb ports but they are on the right side of the camera. this makes it to where the axis on the gimbal covers up the ports. not allowing me to plug anything in when it is on the gimbal. great video though Arthur.
No, it does not. The gimbal would even work without a device, it seems. It relys on the AI unit.
Can you link that setup with an alexa and get a iron man type assistant which looks at you when it talks etc ?
Thank God AI has no idea I can turn it off. Cool gimbal, something many of us would love to own. Imagine the fun one can have with the auto tracking. Curious to how’s this gimbal compares to the crane m3 with the quality of the footage stabilizing
Waiting for some hacker to mount this to a Roomba to make a follow-you-everywhere video robot. R2D2 anyone?
Hi sir how r u this gimbal can setup for sonyzve10

Thank you for reviewing this gimbal,
This looks very promising
😀Okay. That's It! I want one.
A really cute muse model !! 😅
Oh & the tracking gimbal is pretty cool as well. 👍🏼
Such artificial intelligence is more needed for mini gimbals with mobile phones. People filming tiktok and instagram will appreciate
They make the M6 for that application.
Best review channel all the time❤❤❤❤❤
You know I did not watched the video yet but I will just say its good
when they figure out do engage without an Ok sign (kind os silly), and upon command from videographer, I will be interested . Looks like a good start in this AI venture
Very good for the price 🔥
Very good review!
However, one more think that I could suggest is.. If you want to give a real sample of stabilization, better not using slow-motion effect. So that everyone will know its real performance.
cool idea, but... not even rated to support an R5 WITHOUT a lens. Even an R7 with the Nifty Fifty weighs in at almost 900g.
Looked it up on B&H… man does it get panned
that's odd - I'm not finding it on B&H or Adorama websites
Why did you decide to show mainly slow motion footage? The slow motion shots in the gimbal review are quite misleading because they make the shot look much smoother than it actually is. Am I right?
It would be great if the AI sensor of this gimbal could track objects
Like dji raveneye, we chose the subject or person or objects and the gimbal followed it
So currently it only can track humans? I am interested in this gimbal, but I´d like to use it with an Action 4 and record my dogs.
great features 😍😍
This is literally the ONLY FEATURE that I'm waiting on from DJI Gimbals. The Raveneye system is annoying af. Tracking features like this is game changing.
It would be a game changer on a larger gimbal i think. Crane 3 Lab size would be amazing.

I think it is hard to tell how good a gimbal is if you test it on slow-motion videos.
Superb 👌
Can AI make balancing it not the scourge of my existence?
Lmfao preach
Everything good until vertical inception. Only last 2 seconds then it starts jerking with error massage. I tested with my ZV-E10 Pancake it lens.
Come on, Arthur… we’re still showing off gimbal smoothness with slow motion shots?
Why is everything in slomo. we want to see normal shots 😢
The sample is slow motion. The stability is not true. Post the normal speed footage
AI tracking. Automatically locks on and follows the nearest object with AI.
Footage is shaky, even slowed down AND with a wide lens
I love your channel but i hope u wont use so much slow motion to furnish a review about gimbal. With all those slow motion we cant tell how good/ bad the gimbal is in real life.
can it track object instead of people... lets say a basketball,
Your samples in slow motion are not ideal to judge the performance of a gimbal.
Your wife is such a beauty!

Hope it doesn’t send all your tracking footage back to China.
Ugghhhh 🤮

Nice presentation, but, I had to return it back to Amazon. It was not user friendly at all.
