    Where did you buy the hoops for your shade cloth/bug netting?

      We bend them using 10ft EMT conduit. I made a short video here: ua-cam.com/video/OSylUbZqfQk/v-deo.htmlsi=NsYgJyUsxGjp3LBz

    Wow, your peppers and tomatillos are way ahead of mine, I'm from the same area. Looking good and looking forward to following your garden this year.

      Thanks! They got quite large in the grow room and so far have done well after transplanting! Appreciate you following along 😊

    A lovely garden, so aesthetic...I'd love to have the space for such a setup. Instead, my patio is brimming with Lowe's and Menard's buckets and a kiddie pool for my cukes to trail around in. 😆 It all tastes the same in the end, right? 🙂 Kudos on all your hard work! I'm in zone 6b along the Ohio River in IN, so given we're neighbors I wish us both luck as the incredibly hot summer begins to set in.

      Thanks Natalie! A garden is a garden in my book. We have had patio gardens in apartments, container gardens at rented houses, small in ground gardens in suburban lots and now our country house and have loved every one of them!
      Yes, very hot 🥵 early season this year. Peppers are off to a good start but our broccoli and cauliflower are 2 weeks ahead and not loving the heat. Hope you have a wonderful season!

    Ah. Love how particular you are about trying to get plants that produce well throughout the season.
    Question. Over here in south central Indiana, I always have trouble with squash vine borers. With summer squash types I could of course keep them covered, but do you do anything particular to help with your winter squashes? I have not been able to keep them from being attacked by either squash vine borer or beetles. They’re so sprawling that keeping them covered doesn’t really work, and you don’t seem to have your covered.

      Thanks Zach! Definitely incredibly difficult for vining squash like pumpkins. Butternut and other squash in the C Moschata family are relatively resistant to SVB so we have good luck with those

    Garden is looking great! Really impressed with your peppers. My seed-grown ones failed miserably! And that looks a good solid structure for your tomatoes. Wonderfully diverse range of tomatoes you're growing too - I love having a mix of different kinds, although I thought I was being adventurous with six different kinds!

    Do you put logs around your straw bales to help with moisture retention and keep out weeds that may try to creep in or is there another reason?

    • @TheGardenFamily
      @TheGardenFamily  4 місяці тому

      You got it! I recently added wood chips to the area as well to retain moisture :)

    How did you get the ph down on the blueberries?

    • @TheGardenFamily
      @TheGardenFamily  4 місяці тому

      A few tips for that: 1) we planted them in raised beds and brought in more acidic soil. 2) starting last year we have been applying sulfur to keep the soil in the acidic range. It takes a while so sometimes you have to make the bed a year before planting (which is what we did). Here in Ohio it is very hard to get our native clay soil acidic enough if planted in the ground

    How do you keep the white worms out of the raspberries?

    • @TheGardenFamily
      @TheGardenFamily  4 місяці тому

      Hi Mary, luckily we haven’t had many problems with the white worms but I believe they are the larva of spotted wing drosophila flies. One of the things to reduce attracting them is to make sure not to leave any rotted fruit on the plants. Are you having issues with them?
