- We wanted to come up with a way to make larger items from HDPE and one thing that will help us do this is a large press. We picked up this hydraulic bottle jack second hand and built this no-weld steel frame to house it. We'll be using this press in our next vide, which will be a bigger HDPE project! Hit subscribe and click the bel to be sure not to miss it!

I must say, the use of wood to reinforce the tube ends is absolutely brilliant! With tube being stronger than solid stock, and so much less expensive generally, using solid stock is just silly. Very inspiring work fellas!
**SAFETY ADVICE:. Put a collar at the top of the frame for the jack piston/column to go into. This will stop the jack base from kicking out sideways and flying out at you. Maybe even drill a hole thru the collar and Jack column to insert a safety pin. Otherwise this is awesome! I'm going to use this for sure!!
Great idea. Thanks
Brilliant build! Gonna have a look at something like this once things have cleared up and I can get supplies 😍
Love your content! Recycling is at the heart of responsible manufacturing and I fully intend to use what I can of your ideas to further the cause! Making jigs will be paramount! Thank you!
Thank you! We’re so glad you like the channel 👍🏼
You boys are so cute. Made this old granny laughed when you wowed yourself catching the glues!
Love how nice your projects look when finished. Remind me of my wood shop class in high school. I was the only girl in wood shop and auto shop in the seventies in seventh through 12th grade.
Glad you enjoyed it!
So jealous of your guys workshop!!!
This is like a super upscaled version of the book press I made.
I love how neat you two work. Super cool guys!
Haha thanks so much, its a pretty small shop so we try and keep it as tidy as possible otherwise its impossible to work in!
That's a real great design with so many awesome building tips. Cheers!
Cheers guys!!
I'm impressed with your DIY LOL
Looking forward to the next project video with the press!
Thanks! It should be a fun one!
👏👏👏👏 That was awesome. I would love to build this. I'm already a big fan of recycling but being able to do it for myself to make things I want is an amazing idea. Thanks guys 🍻
Awesome! Hope you give it a go!
Smashing build guys looking forward to seeing the next HDPE build.
Thanks Adam!
Very neat. You do good work fellahs.
How do these brother's not have more subs by now? This is amazing content!
Haha thanks Joe!
Impressive and simple! Great instructions 👍
Really imPRESSive.
That is some seriously heavy duty press there fellas!. Nice 👍😁
Thanks bud!
It looks professional looking. Good work guys 👍
Thanks John!
That looks excellent 👍
Thanks!
Very good video , thanks for the explanation
I'm watching this after your other HDPE videos and I always thought you bought that machine as is, great work guys! I'm hoping I can get materials together to make something like it in the near future :)
Well we’ll definitely take that as a compliment! We would 100% recommend making one! It makes HDPE work so much easier!
Awesome job guys! 😃👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻
Thanks Fred!
Nice one guys! We have a much bigger version of this at work for pressing bearings in/out! Would love a home sized version.....maybe I'll give it some serious thought later in the year. Great result on the HDPE so I'd definitely call that a win.👍😁
Thanks man! Yeah it’s such a nice size to have in the shop. Loving the results so far!
Nice work guys!
Thanks!
chingones tus videos !!!!
Hello my friend.
This is a great design. It's nice to create and share a variety of ideas to help many people. Congratulations ... Big greetings....
Thank you ☺️☺️
Great job guys very clever build 👍
Thanks Alan!
Very good work. Keep up the good work.
Thanks!
Amazing job giys!
Thanks!
good job men !!
Thank you!
Awesome video guys, nice thumbnail!
Haha thanks man!
Nice work.
Thanks!
Good luck 👍
Keep the HDPE videos coming. Thanks
Our next upload should be an HDPE project! 👍🏼👍🏼
I don't think I need one of these. But I want one nonetheless. Thanks for sharing!
Haha I appreciate your honesty, thanks mate!
Vocês são muito bons 😊
Nice video chaps! Will see you at MC :)
Cheers Chris! See you there!
this is much nicer than the 2x6s i got screwed together
I'm going to make a wood version of this now. I really wish I had some steel around to allow a better squeeze. I wonder how fast I'll end up breaking my wood version...
Vocês são ótimos
cara, genial!
Please, can you list out the materials you used, and the measurements so we can try this on our own. Thanks
I like things u guys do but it would be very helpful if there is a way to show us dimensions of ur measurement✌
I watch that video too many times. I'm going to buy the parts today or tomorrow and start this week. I hope everything go as planned.
Awesome!
Enes do share the measurements you're using? My email id is mendonsajai@gmail.com would be very grateful 🙏
Honestly, this can be used in woodworking too.
Also how did you guys make the square container mold that is used in other videos to flatten the melted plastics??????
Can you please send me the detailed size of the machine?
Great work guys, all your vids are brilliant to work and learn from.
where do you source your steels tubes from in the U.K.
Thanks for the kind words David! We actually found someone online selling these second hand. If you keep an eye out on gumtree, something should come up 😊
When you placed the bottle jack press on the top of the frame and the top wood piece 8:02 did you center it????
What two kinds of glue do you use at 3:30 to glue the wood/plywood together????? And can you give the cut measurements used for the metal frame and the wood base; because i didn’t see anything in the description. Also what kind/type of metals and woods where used to make this press???
Use threaded metal inserts for wood to make it more easily reassembled
I wondered if something like this would work for a pressure pot lid (for molding and casting) so the lit could be in place more quickly than tightening the bolts. Very cool to see it in action.
溶接無しで作り上げるとは凄い。
Never seen French’ s mustard used as glue. Interesting 🤣
It’s the best! 😅
Is there any reason you couldn't reverse the build with the jack on the bottom so you wouldn't need the springs?
Have you had any issues with the strength of those hooks? My main concern with this is the amount of pressure between the bottle jack and those trampoline springs is massive. If one of those hooks pops out… yikes! Anyway, just looking for some reassurance. Thanks boys!
Do you have a link to the 7.5-inch springs you got on amazon? Cannot seem to find 7.5" on amazon at all. I did find a set of 7" (will that do?).
I'm making a press to emboss logos onto my hand-painted greeting cards with 3d printed dies.
Keep up the great work.
that would mak a great panini press if made out of metal!!! and would need heating elements! :)
😊👍👍👍
Can I ask the size of the spring used and what is it called so I can buy it
did you ever make the plans and equipment list available ? huge thanks.
We didn't I'm afraid, there are some other videos on UA-cam though of similar things that should have plans available for you to use 😊
what is the maximum area for a mold with a 10 ton press,
if i wanted to make bigger pieces i would need a bigger press or i would have to make a bigger structure, great video
That’s a good question! I’m sure a 10 ton press could produce bigger flat sheets but not sure on the size
At Last! A doable project without specialized tools... aka Welder! I hate it when you must own a 3d printer or some other high priced technology. Defiantly a TRUE DIY project! Looking for a cheese/apple press but this would work with a scissor jack for HDPE as well! Got any free download PDF plans for this?
Glad you like our build! No plans I’m afraid - good luck building your own!
You guys r cool like crazy. ( woman speaking )
Haha thanks!
Well, that’s an obvious way to do it ... I now know.
Easter hols project methinks.
Where did you giys find a second hand bottle jack press?????
We have a monster making tutorial series called Monster Lab that you may find interesting. We teach sculpting, molding, painting and design and have been making Halloween creations for over 40 years! Best wishes for your channel.
Awesome, thanks!
Might fuck around and build one of these for pressing the water out of handmade paper. The problem is then I would want to make the base out of something reasonable water resistant. IE not plywood
Great ! I want the same... 😍 Kisss !
☺️☺️
To go or not to go. That is the question.
Go!!!
Awesome! You inspire me guys! I want to make a press by myself. I need to buy a bottle jack. In your experience, is enough with a 2 Tons or better go for 4 tons jack? I will make recycled plastics stuff like you here in Argentina. Thanks in advance!
Our 2 ton press has been fantastic! Thanks and good luck!
We have a 6 ton bottle press but getting the plastic evenly flat is a challenge . Any ideas about that would help .
Make sure the bottle jack is totally centred above the mould
Hello Brothers ! am making the same or almost... On a video, I saw that you wrote 90g/mm on your mould...how did you calculate that?! If I do 40x40x0.01 then x0.97 (hdpe density)...I can't do that...
너무내스타일 본받을께요 I love you😍
Where can one find a second hand bottle jack??????
Any particular mold release you apply to the press?
Nope! Just a little bit of spray varnish every 4-5 uses to keep the moulds clean
Water is also a CA glue accelerator. I don’t think that’s what’s in that “accelerator” spray you can buy, but water in a spray bottle works.
Thanks for the tip Gary 😊
Do you think this would work to press and emboss leather?
100% it would!
Hi I want to make one like this. Can you send the specs on all the materials used
Do you have any plans measurements
We don't I'm afraid, the base is 400 x 400mm so hopefully that helps a little.
nice work, what are base dimensions ?
Thanks! 400x400mm
Great work, keep it up! ;)
I'm thinking about building one of these
machines (with some friends). Since our products will be all day outside
in the sun, I want the sheets to be uv-resistant.
I know that
uv-resistance is typically achieved by adding carbon black to the
plastic, so using only carbon black shredded plastic will make the
sheets uv resistant. But could you please tell me a way (the simpler the
better) to make COLORED sheets that are uv-resistant? Maybe by adding
uv-stabilizers during the melting process, what sould be tricky, since
mixing the uv-stabilizers with the plastic pellets is not that easy I
guess? Are there better ways?
Thank you very much in advance :)
Lukas
Hey! Great to hear you’re building your own!
We don’t have any experience with UV stabilisation with plastics but we know it can be done! Just not familiar with the process
Hi Lukas! How are things going with your UV-resistant plastic sheets? I'm going to make plastic signs that will be on the street all day. For dark things, carbon may be good, but what about white plastic (hdpe)?
I noticed your plastic mallet. How did u make it?
The same way we made this one: ua-cam.com/video/DILMMwH04a8/v-deo.html
Do you happen to have a set of Engineering Drawings of this Press?
Unfortunately not I’m afraid!
Such a shame you don’t have/include dimensions for this press. Even an overall/internal working area HEIGHT would be very helpful please? I plan to make one. Thanks from NZ.
Any chance of getting the dimensions of this build
Brothers, I was just thinking about this press, and realized that most of us could do just fine by standing on a press, instead of using a jack. Is it true?
Can we cut cardboard box pieces by using cutting dies from this press machine ?
I don’t see why not!
Can I melt numbers 2,4, and 5 together?
Please don’t do that!
I found myself wondering how it would've been to use your recycled HDPE slabs and boards instead of plywood and 2x4 wood. Probably impractical, but still made me wonder.
Ни фига не понял но очень интересно!
Can you tell me the length of the tubes you used please.
Not 100% sure sorry!
What's the bottle jack force? Is 2t sufficient?
Yep this was 2T
Fly Ash bricks make in hydraulic with out electric.. how to make...
What happens when the bottle slips off the top beam due to asymmetric loading? Now youl have a spring loaded top plate that can hit the operator.
Don’t load it asymmetrically 🤷🏽♂️
@@BrothersMake Please be careful with your face. Your channels terrific!
Thanks! Will do
İ have a idea You can make a knuckles from hdpe
I wish u share dimensions :)
Dimensions? Plans?
Poderiam colocar legenda em Português.
What's the thickest full-sized sheet you guys have had success with using your awesome press here?
In sheet form probably only about 20mm but we made a solid block for our 3D Nintendo Logo video 🤙🏽
@@BrothersMake Yeah saw that video too, definitely more of a block than a sheet. :) Anyway, 20mm, very helpful thank you.
