- In this video, I take you from complete Gimp (free Photoshop) novice to semi-expert at designing cars for use on the iRacing platform.
Everything from colors, gradients, curves, logo placement, and more. However, I won't touch on the iRacing.com spec maps, instead that will be in a separate video. ( • Gimp iRacing Spec Map ... )
Thank you for making a video for those that become instantly braindead when attempting to paint. Like me.
Same here im so new to pc and pc gaming in general. I’m lost. I open the next gen template and all I see is a bunch of coding rather than the car layout so I’m able to paint the car.
Out of all the videos I have seen using gimp to design cars on iRacing, this is by far the best I have seen. It may be long but worth it as this has explained so much more compared to every video I have seen. Thank you very much.
This is my other account for my videos and now with how much this has helped me design my own SFL car I have posted your videos on my channel as a playlist saying in my opinion the best videos to understand what you are going better. Again thank you very much for these videos, they are by far the best I’ve come across on UA-cam for gimp and IRacing. Massive respect for making it so simple to understand.
Great video! Clear and well explained and I cant believe this only has 1k veiws. You earned a new sub!
I disagree. Newbies were lost by 20 minute marker.
What can I say but that was so easy to follow, thanks for the video Liam looking forward to the next installment 😀
I've watched a few of these tutorials and this is by far the most simple and in depth one yet
Thanks for this, liked and subbed 👍
Thanks Liam. This is clear, concise and excellently presented!
Glad it helped!
best iracing livery tutorial, nice work!
Why not use the built in symmetry to repeat what you have between the left and right side of the car?
Go to windows > Dockable Dialogs > Symmetry Painting
In the new window (Symmetry Painting top right), select the mirror option in the drop down
Select horizontal symmetry and adjust the Horizontal axis position until the line is smack in the middle of the roof using the wire frame as a reference
Create what you want on either side of the line and have it mirrored perfectly on the other side.
You're welcome.
Never knew about this
Wow, what a great tutorial! Thank you so much!
Hello. Love your videos, they are super helpful. I was wondering if you would be willing to make one on how to transfer paint schemes from one car to another. Like how you did with your Aflac schemes on the next gens
Great video tutorial
out of all the videos i have seen this shows exactly what i am looking for the problem with what i have is i dont know how to do the shading or for example blend the colors
you need to slow down when you are doing these, I had to rewind each part a million times to see what you were doing.
Pay this man.
I want to know how to stick my own images onto a paint scheme available in iracing's paint booth. I know the schemes are available in gimp but I have to go through and fill in around the edges pixel by pixel since I can't figure out how to change the pre-determined colors of the schemes.

The lines part is confusing as hell. I’m working on a Tyler reddick Carolina blue Jordan scheme. Let me tell you it’s a pain in the ass
I run #DB0000 Chrome for all my rims wherever possible.
Makes it kind of look like they are glowing red from brakes lol
I'll have to give it a shot on a design at some point! Thanks for watching.
anyone know what I'm doing wrong, I hit export and everything but it doesn't update in the car model screen
Hey man I need some help.. I made a paint and now it is stuck on my car and even when I upload a paint to the car from trading paints the previous paint is stuck on the car. What do I need to do to fix this
@@Precise_Motorsports Hey, sometimes I have this issue as well. Just go ahead and delete the folder in your iRacing directory for that car. It'll regenerate itself next time you use it.
So if it was the Xfinity mustang that's causing the issue you would delete folder
User>documents>iRacing>paint>stockcar2 mustang 2019
Hope this fixes the issue
@@liambrotherton I have done this twice now and still same issue so maybe I might be doing it wrong. If you would like to help me out later around 8:30 pm est I should be on and we can do a discord call. It’s annoying because I made new paints and can’t even upload to trading paints because of this issue
@@Precise_Motorsports Hmm, double check to make sure the file on trading paints isn't the car you keep seeing and then from there I'd just resort to deleting the entire paint folder, uninstall-reinstall trading paints, and finally doing the same for iRacing. Hopefully one of those solves the issue. Double check sim stamped and custom number files on trading paints as well.
@@liambrotherton thanks
Leidos livery hard asf
Please could you make one video for the helmet also? Thanks mate
Hey John, I can certainly look into it.
Are you having trouble finding the template and 3D viewer for it or just want some pointers when working in gimp with it?
It's notoriously the hardest template to paint on iRacing haha
@@liambrotherton exactly 😂, I have problems modifying the template
@@johnwalker7861 Understandable, it's horrendous.
I'll make a video detailing it soon!
Hey John, ua-cam.com/video/GMZS0zCJch8/v-deo.html hopefully that helps!
@@liambrotherton Thanks Liam
When I open the next gen template with WinRar all I see is a bunch of coding. Why can’t I see the car layout so I’m able to paint?
i am unable to export the files in .gta extention...
Rookie here, where do you go to change the wheel color in the template?
Hey Cole,
Check around the 2 minute mark I showcase that process.
It's within the iRacing UI, click on paint car, find the car you want to change wheel rim color. Click on that car, on the right hand side of the screen scroll to the bottom and rim color will be the last option.
Hope this helps!
Also having problems dragging numbers like you did
@@cole948 Utilize Ctrl+m to select the move tool. Should be able to move layers with it.
@@liambrotherton is there a way I can message you? Still having problems with it.
Shoot me an email at corebusinessinquiries@gmail . com and hopefully I can help out a little more!
