"charlotte was a stupid bitch" I'm dead, you sound like sassy snape i couldn't handle it
Your sarcasm gives me life.
This.
Story of my life.
I'm always so shocked at the incredible quality of iPhones. Why do we even buy cameras?
"I want to make more baking videos but my oven broke."
Thank you Ariel!! :)
I actually found you without the help of anyone. I was just searching for someone who reads and recommends good books. After a big disappointment from other youtubers around here, who don't know how important are the classics and who are reading things like Twilight (and praising it)...This explains a lot about them I guess. Keep on the good work! Cheers from Czech Republic
just because they enjoy YA over classics doesn't make them inferior to any other booktubers.... thought I agree that Barry is awesome.
I was talking about my preferences regarding literature. If you don't agree with this, it's your problem buddy.
Literally you're so funny without even trying lmao like your dry sense of humor is just so funny.
I can't! Lmbo "Charlotte was a stupid bi-atch!" Tell us how you really feel Barry!
I died when you said: "Because it's a Bronte novel, although it's Charlotte... Charlotte was a stupid bitch."
Makes me want to get my hands on Villette now since I LOVE classics!
I have to read Moby Dick now, argh! AND COME TO GLASGOW BARRY GO ON GO ON GO ON! ...except I'm leaving for Oban on Thursday and won't be back til Sunday so that would be pretty pointless. God.
1:30 "Charlotte was a stupid bitch". Oh glory be. I live for it.
I hope your oven situation is fixed soon
Yay you loved Moby-Dick!!!
Villette is so great! And it's really fucking clever, too. But all the more clever for how completely un-obvious that cleverness is. All Psych students should be made to study it just for it's sheer depth into the human mind. Also very discretely feminist, in a very large way - CLEVER. Much better than Jane Eyre, in my opinion, but there's a very succinct dichotomy between those who prefer JE and those who prefer Villette. Hope you enjoy Manchester!
Last summer I was in England for the first time, on a sixteen hour layover... and pretty much my only goal was to go shopping in a Waterstones. So I hear ya. And Villette is amazing, I agree. I mean, super depressing. But also amazing.
your are so unique :) my fav booktuber ever
Loads of fun!!!!! Haha love da sarcasm!!! :D
Baking!
I'm here thanks to Ariel, and I'm loving your videos. (Greetings from Mexico!)
What an incredible view!
I haven't stayed in an apartment in Manchester in years lol. Find myself in Liverpool a lot more these days to be honest. iPhone quality in natural daylight really is pretty good quality. Not so good in artificial though. Gives me more confidence that when I film a video on my phone that the quality will be good, just hope the sound is ok, yours didn't seem too bad :) And Moby Dick, one of the three books to survive from earth's near death experience when it was sent across space and became ravalox ;)
I can't believe you're in Manchester (well I can believe it but you know) ,you're literally a half hour's drive from me!
Enjoy! XD
Heyyyy if you're there a while you should come visit, it's like 3 hours on the train.
Yes! I'll look into that actually. That would be loadsa fun!
Bazpierce Awesome - do let me know.
Karina E brought me here and I'm thrilled to meet your acquaintance. You had me at Cake in your intro video and Charlotte Bronte was a stupid bitch. CAKE OR DEATH! I am slowly but surely reading the classic novels on my shelves and am learning they aren't as scary as I thought them to be. Stupid High School, making kids hate books! Just to warn you, I have officially begun stalking you and now must watch all your videos :D cheers!
Were you in Poetry Aloud at the National Library?
Re: Ariel
On that note: BE MINE, BARRY.
In a less creepy declaration, I'm loving your channel! I'm not one for classics, though you're slowly tempting me, but you're just so hilarious I can't pass up the chance to watch your videos
Lmao, because why the hell not lmfao
I heard about you through RonLit actually :D Did you guys plan reading Moby Dick at the same time, btw? Just curious if there's a crossover in the works.
In the last video I told you how much I freaking hated Moby Dick. That was 4 minutes ago. I still hated it. :) But I loved Villette.
Alright, let me just say it right now, I'm not the Fangirl type of girl. I'd never scream just because someone famous walks down the street. I'd not ask them for a picture or an autograph. I've always lived my live thinking "Their shit smells just like mine" (That's a typical German phrase, in case you're wondering... It just aims to say: They're normal people!)
But you, my friend! Goodness Gracious, what are you?! Let me just mention that I've found you on my own (I'm kind of proud of that). I love Booktube, but nowadays.. without wanting to sound mean or anything.. Well, it can be kind of hard to find people whose reading horizon goes past, idk, Divergent and stuff. Which is perfectly fine, obviously, they have their audience and stuff, and most of them are pretty young also. But the amount of people who read and review YA on UA-cam is just overwhelming. I'm constantly trying to find Booktubers who read a variety of books.
Anyway, long story short, I was SOOO glad when I found you! Besides the fact that your taste in books is a little similiar to my own - which is why I came - your charming personality makes me laugh - which is why I've stayed. :)
I don't want to talk about why I like you so much because that would feel like arse-kissing to me :D So I'm just going to tell you how I've spent the last few days watching a lot of your videos :) I don't even comment that often on UA-cam. You've made me write something!
Alright, so thanks to you I am super pumped to read Lolita. I actually purchased it a few weeks ago, lucky me! I feel like I'm going to really enjoy it!
I tried reading Moby Dick earlier this year and I hated it! I'm always so surprised when people say they liked it! Gosh, it was a pain for me. But oh well ;)
Wuthering Heights is definitely, definitely my favourite Bronte novel. Actually, it's my second favourite novel of all time. I'm happy you approve of it :D
I've read Villete last year. Don't except Jane Eyre-ish qualities out of that book, my friend! I thought it was okay, didn't really love it, sadly..
If you'd like a book recommendation, I'd like to recommend my favourite novel of all time: The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe. Goethe is like the German Shakespeare, in case you didn't know. I LOVE HIM. Let me correct my statement from earlier. Goethe and you are the only people I'd fangirl over. Anyway, it's a pretty short novel. It's beautiful. I'd like to hear what you think! I'll definitely read me some Vonnegut soon! Take care my friend! :)
Think you'll ever read Trainspotting?
which books? :D
Why are you in Manc ? :D
did u blow up ur oven
Hey, I've just scrolled through your Instagram. (Man, I sound like a stalker.. I'm not, I promise!) Anyway, you're a Zelda fan! Seriously, we're meant to be! Same taste in books AND games? What more can one wish for?? ;) JK :D
