i am german. you gave us morrissey, we gave you kraftwerk. but i never saw one in a kraftwerk concert cryin for the beauty of the moment like this. cheers england!
The British have the best rock... We thank you for that, im from Mexico, this song its just the best sad happy memento for me... even if Mozz forgot the lyrics.
@Rob Faz , alright to be fair I do hold a grudge. My whole town was decimated in the 2nd world was by the Luftwaffe, complete family's wiped out. I think I'm allowed to feel a little perturbed against the Germans....
to see ppl coming together like this and listening to this song somehow has brought tears to my eyes.. Just luv that gal in the front row with the pearls sums it up for me.. cheers to you all.. It says 16 yrs go but Im watching now and its 2023.. 19 yrs ago and it still got it!
He doesn't want any friends, most people don't understand him!....and anyone who has even an inch of musical knowledge LOVES him! He is a musical genius.
I was there with my husband- it was his 30th birthday present, made the trip to Manchester from Israel to see Moz and we remember every single moment of this AMAZING show. Viva Moz, this song brings many happy tears. :)
They don't know every word- look again after he says 'it's amazing, you even know the words'..they don't and collectively mess it up in the next verse..hey ho..
This relates to postcards that you could buy in seaside towns of the type Morrissey and l guess many of us visited during the 60's as kids. "Wish you were here". They were very boring places
An incredibly sad song for me, conjures up visions of Findhorn and very boring cheap family holidays there in the late 60's early 70's - The shadow of the cold war hanging in the background, with the beach, bingo and those penny arcade places. But you know, compared to today, give me back that world ..
When this song came out it just seemed like a run of the mill good song Now I realise it's one of the all time classics. Somehow Morrisey can make you sad, nostalgic but for some reason leave you with a real uplifting joy for life. He brings the real emotion that only a real artist can bring to his craft. The look on thats girls face at 1:22 says it far better than I ever could.
Hits the spot (for me) about being lonely, lost loves, and how the world might as well end without love. I was a teenager when this first came out and it's so emotional looking back at the journey and faces gone past. Finding a good person you can trust to share your life with is the most beautiful thing you can discover in life. I think.
You're so right. This reminds me of when I was 16 in Normandy, France as an exchange student. It was a small seaside beach full of Frenchies on Summer Holiday. Life was all around but no one for me to talk to-saw like a good American I bought a 6 pack of Kronenbourg Bier and went up on top of the channel cliffs and pounded those on top of the Nazi bunkers, then down to la plage to check out the topless teenage girls. Wasn't so bad!
+Joshua Hugo This song embodies that little village and being far from home. It was called Les Petites Dalles, "The Little Flagstones" and I lived with a gracious French famille, Les Varennes. I couldn't speak French for merd when I got there but when I left I could Parle Francais.
2:49 it's amazing how the crowd can make Moz sooo happy😊♥ Moz said in a interview that his depression is cured when he sings on stage😊💙 he's so sweet! That comment lighted my heart up 💗🎀🍥
My faith is restored !! Morrissey's interview with Stewart Maconie this week was painful. But up on stage, swinging the microphone lead, this man is one of the greatest performers in the world !!!
That was just an incredible moment in time! Such a fantastic song and the crowd's love for it was pouring all over the place. I could not help tearing up just watching it!
Nothing else shows the pure love of music like watching fans at one of Morrissey's concerts. Nothing !!!!!!! Love it. Grew up with this music like so many others. The nostalgia it brings back is unbelievable
What a performer! How I wish I had been there! The crowd must have been absolutely fantastic that night. And the woman at 1.21 is the best of them all!
Just went to the concert, he was/is a sublime god with the touch/voice of an angel. It's been an hour and I'm already close to tears because I won't see him again for who knows how long. :(
The man shines charisma, integrity and style. When my sons were much younger we'd play Every Day.....on the car audio and belt the words out. The song made you want to celebrate truth and vision and join M in the performance. A true and authentic giant on the world stage. Ive watched this clip countless times, its fresh and mesmerising each time.
The combination of great music and lyrics is so rare. Morrissey was writing songs at the time when Stock Aitken and Waterman were at their peak... and I know whose lyrics I find more thought provoking !
to say that the beatles never got a better crowd reaction is not to disparage the beatles, but only to acknowledge the maniacal following this guy got. incredible!
Well done Morrisey You certainly get your messages deep into the Soul ,and with great great tunes too. That takes some doing and proves what us fans know-That you are a genius whether you like it or not.
I was there that day.... about 10m from front all day then as soon as Morrissey came on..... CHAOS..... final resting place about 40m back!!! This song was a highlight, the crowd were great :-)
What a moment that was. I was there and it's probably the best gig I've ever been to (certainly one of them). Watching that brought back many memories....the dvd "Who Put the M in Manchester" has more of that gig as an extra.
Kool song for a Sunday afternoon and enjoy Morrissey songs with some Tequila Sunrise and some beer wow what a Great way to enjoy life with the music of Morrissey. Thank you Morrissey for all your Love and Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I saw God a few years ago live it was amazing, life changing event. I would imagine this was as well. I love how when God forgot the words He allowed the audience to sing it. It shows He is most merciful
he saved my life
Fantastic. I would be on the same page
Many times
Not the first to admit that, unless you're prepared to join a very long queue.
The Stones Roses killed me.
i am german. you gave us morrissey, we gave you kraftwerk. but i never saw one in a kraftwerk concert cryin for the beauty of the moment like this. cheers england!
You also bombed the fuck out of us but hey we're not one for holding a grudge..
The British have the best rock... We thank you for that, im from Mexico, this song its just the best sad happy memento for me... even if Mozz forgot the lyrics.

He doesn't want any friends, most people don't understand him!....and anyone who has even an inch of musical knowledge LOVES him! He is a musical genius.
Absolute f..ckng ledgend
One of the greatest songs ever written .
This moment is one of the greatest morrissey moments of all time... It's incredible !!!
There is a depth and richness of texture to Morrissey’s voice that is totally unique. And you know he means every word of what he sings. What a joy.
He just let the crowd sing, and feel so humble about it. Its so lovely
I was there with my husband- it was his 30th birthday present, made the trip to Manchester from Israel to see Moz and we remember every single moment of this AMAZING show. Viva Moz, this song brings many happy tears. :)
its amazing hearing the crowd sing every single word back to him so very loud. it adds a whole other depth to the song
It's awesome and magical. I first heard this version when I was divorced and alone. Years later I listen and it's beautiful.
He's singing this in literally the back garden of the house that he grew up in. Unbelievable. My favourite performance of his.
It’s mixed that way, crowd is punched up
@@spewgilist of course, it works like magic

I am very proud to be a Morrissey fan, we are the best!

Ditto.Same Barry.(ru_thaker@yahoo.co.uk)
Barry,you lucky b@$t@rd.
The emotion is incredible particularly at 1.21
Look at the size of that crowd. Look at the adoration. Listen to the noise.
2004 was such an amazing year to be a Morrissey fan. Halcyon days.
❤❤❤❤❤🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🤗🤗🤗🤗 não me canso de ver essa apresentação!!!!!!!
when you hear the fans/audience sing with him, you'd know how much he is loved ^_^
What lyrics, man. "How I dearly wish I was not here." Puts you right there. Anywhere. For me it was Asbury Park, NJ
Morrisey performed in Asbury park year's ago Asbury park is my old party town

Takes me back to the mid 90's when he came to Dallas, idiots rushed the stage and cut him short-fuckers. It was great while it lasted.
What a performer! How I wish I had been there! The crowd must have been absolutely fantastic that night. And the woman at 1.21 is the best of them all!
Julia, you know the words...incredible!
True art turning a depressing subject into joy. Alchemy.

this gives me goose bumps. It must have been overwhelmingly awesome to be there. Morrissey, we love you!
How can so much misery inspire such joy? The Morrissey enigma
This song would be even better if the words were happy words .
La meilleure version live de cette chanson de tous les temps, définitivement.

Adored worldwide, a true genius if ever there was, them uneducated fools who disrespect morrissey will suffer in time that I’m sure of
"trudging slowly over wet sand. come armageddon, come!"~ i'll never forget the day i heard that over the radio. over 20 years ago...
I've seen him in person and he is indeed transcendent. Bless you, Moz
