My male family members anytime I’m mad say “ooOo we got a bleeder” or “is it that time of month”😃😀 it’s gets me LIVID! So disrespectful and sexist 🤦🏻♀️
PREACH about the “oh are you on your period”....this little twerps response in middle school in front of the entire class said “oh must be that time of the month” just bc I was annoyed at him being a little twerp in class. And of course my teacher was a misogynist and he laughed at the whole ordeal 🙄. I’m 25 and still remember this vividly....I was seeing red. I just wish men would have 1 year worth of periods then maybe they’d stfu.

Hearing these views on periods is so relatable. I get absolutely horrible cramps and all the incredibly painful symptoms I can think of on my period and my entire life I have not had one employer or even one family member who has said its ok to take time off when your feeling this way. They all say to just suck it up. I remember at one of my first jobs I tried to just be upfront with my employer (in a professional way) about how I may need a day or two of time off some months because I get debilitating cramps. He said I could not have that because "he might need me there when I'm sick". This still enrages me today. I know my pain is valid. It's literally too excruciating not to be but it sucks when people tell you to push through pain thats that intense. Ug.

I have a condition called Dysmenorrhea. It causes my periods to be unbelievably painful. Plus there would be no warning. I start my period and for the first bit of the day I'm fine then in the snap of a finger I'm crying in pain. And all I can do to get rid of it it sooooo much pain meds and try to sleep. I'm so happy that Colleen comes on the internet and talk about women's experiences and struggles. It helps young women like my self feel better about what I go through. Thank you Colleen! I love you❤

I was talking to my friend about annoying things men have told us, the thing that annoyed me the most is a man told me "ohh why don't you wear makeup? You would look soooo much prettier if you wore it!" She had the exact same thing happen at her work. I get that like some people don't know that it can be mean but for anyone (not just men) please don't tell people they would be prettier with ____.
I'm 13, I have a period illness known as Endometriosis, (search up for definition) basically I might not be able to have kids in the future because of it which is really sad, my sister can't have kids, but my mum somehow managed to have kids (Endometriosis is a thing that runs through the family and will continue to run through the family, 1 of 10 woman suffer from it) periods absolutely suck, I want to have kids when I'm older, but I can't get the proper surgery (due to financial reasons)
If one man comes up to you and tells you "periods aren't that bad", here is a free 'kick him in the face' pass, from me :)

I get all of your symptoms too! And I used to get the leg pain that Rachel gets, but not so much anymore. I read an article once that said that period pain can be as painful as a heart attack for some women.
Also I think I sucks the periods are like a 3 week process. PMS. PERIOD. RECOVERY.

I had covid during thanksgiving, but luckily my case wasn’t very bad. I got it from my aunt, who is a schoolteacher, at my church choir practice. That next week like seventeen out of 22 of us got it. It’s so weird how it effects everyone differently, thats for sure! We all had different symptoms and some were basically asymptomatic while one was hospitalized. I can’t wait until this is all over!
Colleen, this got said to me in my own workplace by a colleague. It happens and it’s so wrong please continue to educate people of what you should/shouldn’t say to other people!

all my family does it go to work, come home, and we don't go out other than if we get together with my aunt, uncle and baby cousin. my aunt has a daycare so she legally has to take our temperatures when we walk in. whenever i tell people that, they get pissed off at us for going out. i don't understand some people. the last quarentine we showed up at my aunt and uncles, and my little cousin didn't recognise any of us. it's almost like it was his first time seeing us

I have horrible camps too - idc if this is tmi... in highschool I would have to ask my mom to pick me up because I couldn’t take it. I would hide in the bathroom because I could act like I wasn’t in HORRIBLE PAIN. Now that I’m home and quarantine is a thing I really appreciate lying in bed all day with a heating pad, snacks and a good movie. Love you :) sending everyone good vibes this year

@@lex3683 Yes men do have growing pains, but most women have growing pains ,breast pain, periods, and go through pregnancy/childbirth. It doesn’t make us better than men because we have more to deal with in that sense, but most men think they have it so much worse and that all of our pain is like a tiny paper cut. While most men couldn’t go through that.
