Man! What a beautiful stable of steeds! I am so jealous. I do have a 2021 Big Al (red) that I built up so I cant be too jealous but dude... If I had a wishlist of 3 bikes, it would be very close to this! Awesome builds.
I’ve sold that 1 now sadly, but they are beautiful bikes. My Mmmbop in this video was possibly the best bike I’ve ever had in terms of fun factor. My dodgy leg wasn’t strong enough tho for it after breaking it in 2019. I have a Marley now for light xc runs and a Santa Cruz Nomad now for the rough stuff. Hope you get the bike mate good luck.
That's a really nice bike you have ordered! Hopefully March comes quick for you as I would hate to wait that long haha Enjoy it when it arrives, thanks for the views and comments :)
All look incredible. I'm looking at the big al or the nukeproof scout 290 at the moment. Not sure if yore experienced with either. But given you have a ragley and a nukeproof, would do you observe a difference in manufacturing quality at all between the two? Not sure if you could comment, but in terms of compliance between the two aluminium frames, is one harsher than the other? My options on the big al are either for the 2.0 or a custom build with a revelation fork. The recon silver rl gets a bit of a slating online, is it a false economy to go with the 2.0 standard build? Appreciate any feedback you can give
Sorry for the long awaited reply, I see the comments on my phone then forget to reply when on the PC. I don't notice any difference between the 2 of them personaly. I believe both of them are made in the same factories etc and have all the same people behind them. Ragley is a sister company of Nukeproof which is kind of cool, I love the Ragleys myself but that brushed Nukeproof Scout looks amazing too. In terms of the build quaity and paint etc I honestly see no difference between them and I've worked on quite of a lot of both brands. The steel frames would give a little bit of a smoother feel to it dimming down the microvibrations you would get in the alloy frames.
What are those pedals on the Mmmbop? I'm trying to pick up a purple Big Al this year. That Mmmbop looks so nice with the red pedals and fork, nice job!
@@RichMTB my wife will only let me buy the entry level Big Al. The cool thing is I'm going to get to upgrade it over time. I just looked up those pedals they're sick!
@@patrickobrienstr Big Al is a class bike no matter what one you buy. All them bikes I have in that video are capable of a lot more than I can throw at them 😂
Sorry about the delay, but I ended up selling the Ragley due to health reasons haha broke my leg a while back and during my check up the health consultant told me to try avoid the rough stuff on the Hardtail. So it's gone, but I do have a Marley I'm trying to build up if I can get hold of parts.
I’ll be better equipped to answer this in the coming months. I do love the playfulness of the 27.5 However I do have a mullet build in the making. So we will see how that gos. 😀
You know it!! I'm thinking of starting a Marley build, would love to get it built up to like a XC/Downcountry spec over getting carpet haha But we are in lockdown so why not the shops are closed but the bike shops remain open lol
Thinking about getting nukeproof scout 290. What do you think about ragley vs nukeproof in terms of build quality? I couldn't find ragley big al(frame only), So i'm think about nukeproof scout 290 as XL. You think nukeproof worth the extra? Because it also includes headset and some other accessories.
They are pretty much the same brand, Ragleys a sister company of Nukeproof just like Vitus, only the Ragleys are more upto date geometry in my opinion. If your after a Hardtail 1 of the new 2022 Ragleys wuld be worth gettin once released later this year hopefully. Sorry for the late reply.
How would you say the Mmmbop goes uphill, honestly? I'm toying between this and the Marley for a winter build project. Geo suggests MMbop would be great going DH but the Marley would be a better all around trail bike? As much as I love DH, I spend more time doing general trail riding and I love steep tech climbs at the minute, so that 63° head angle puts me off the Mmmbop.
I think it go's pretty well uphill to be honest with you. Although the Marley would be a more comfortable trail bike I think. I have a Marley frame in Large if your after 1. Brand new 2021 never been used.
I ended up buying an Mmmbop frame instead of the Marley simple due to availability, currently waiting for what seems like forever for my Lyrik to clear customs (Thanks Brexit!) I still think it might be too much bike for me but it's been fun building it up!

Beautiful bike man. Comes with a good spec on it too and it's in the same purple as my Mmmbop. You will love it. I have a Big Al 2021 frame here in the house but it's not mine. I can maybe steal it for a quick video. Ragley obsessed. 😂
How does the mmmbop ride compared to the big wig geo wise? I missed the boat on the purple mmmbop so I am picking up a purple big al frame but building it as a plus 27.5 and over forking it to slack it out more and bringing the bb height up. Just curious if you can tell me the how they ride based on their design intentions. Thanks.
Nice 1 man, that sounds like a fun build, I love doing builds like that, I'm wanting a 2021 Marley and I'm thinking of going mullet with a 100mm 29er front fork. My Mmmbop is overforked with them 170mm Lyrics on it but the whole bike comes alive on the downhills so I can't justify shortening them as it still handles alright on uphills and flat terrain. My Mmmbop pretty much a 64° head angle. using my protractor I have on the phone. Possibly not the most accurate way of measuring things however lol the Mmmbop for me feels very comfortable, I ride a large with a 35mm stem and 25mm riser bars which are 760 wide. It feels like a big bike, feels more aggressive than my Nukeproof Reactor to be honest, then again it does have 20mm more travel, but it still climbs well. I've had it up some really steep local stuff and the front wheel stays planted to the ground. Its nippy enough on the flatter singletrack and can play/throw it about, generally a really fun bike on all terrain but as I said at the start when its pointed downhill the thing just fills you full of confidence, 170mm would usually do that however lol The big Wig is a degree more its sitting around 65° head angle. Its a bit small for me (medium) cause its my wife's bike ("wifes" lol) and I haven't been out on it in a long time now so I cant really tell you how it rides/compares to the Mmmbop as I can't remember. I'm heading out tomorrow however on the Big Wig to my local and recording some new GoPro footage so I'll be sure to keep this in mind. (Be interesting to see the time difference in some of the trails compared to the Mmmbop) Hopefully get tomorrows video uploaded in a couple of weeks time. (I'm terrible at the editing) I have a video coming out very soon of the Ragley Mmmbop at my local trails (similar to my latest video) and I think its actually my best video yet. I've another video hopefully being uploaded next week of the Mmmbop in the snow which is actually really cool and I've finally got the wind noise sorted out so the sound in that 1 will be much better. Good luck with your Ragley build, the Big Al is beautiful this year in both the Purple and the Red. I'm sure whatever way you build it up it will be super fun! Welcome to the club! :D
