      My absolute pleasure, mate! I'm exactly the same and it's the kind of thing I want to see from others so I figured there might be some who would dig it if I made it myself

    Very well thought out! Love how it looks minimal in a good way, so there's little stuff to mess up while being really flexible though.

      Yeah, it's very much "do a load on the preparation side of it and make your life easier but still fun when you play live"

      Thanks a load, mate! It was a pleasure to meet you too, man. I really enjoyed your set, there were some serious bangers in there and the vocal tracks worked perfectly. Have you and Tommy Evans got another album coming up?

    Up to this point I hadn’t thought about using sample loops for a live performance like this. I’ve been more focused on the sequences and how they behave when you move from one to the next. It’s quite different and actually more limited than how you’ve set it up with samples. Thank you for expanding my mind on this. This is brilliant!

    • @PeteSasqwax
      @PeteSasqwax  Рік тому

      My pleasure, man! Yeah, the great thing about the loops is that they obviously only trigger at the start of the sequence, which is something that a lot of people seem to complain about without realising that they can achieve just by muting pads and bouncing down sequences

    Great insight in the use of Koala in a live set. I use Beatmaker 3 using scenes and live playing a synth over the top of everything. I use a launch control XL for sound manipulation.

    • @PeteSasqwax
      @PeteSasqwax  Рік тому +1

      The Launchcontrol XL is an excellent shout - that was the controller I used initially and in many ways it's arguably better than the Midimix (especially with the stock knobs - I have no clue why Akai went with those, they're practically unusable).

    • @johncarter2741
      @johncarter2741 Рік тому +1

      @@PeteSasqwax I agree on the midimix knobs. Had one. Sold it. Novation knobs better. Although the knobs on the akai mpd218/226 etc are nice. Well damped.

    • @PeteSasqwax
      @PeteSasqwax  Рік тому +1

      @@johncarter2741 agreed 100%. I have an MPD232 and they're excellent... but that almost makes it worse about the Midimix - they already had excellent replacements in the building, why not use those?? The LPD8 has the same issue. It's a nice little unit to throw in the back and use wireless with a phone, but I had to replace the stock knobs before I could even use it

    Nice work mate! Loved your set on Sunday, dark & dubby but with a sense of humour if that makes sense?! Sounded awesome 🔊👌

    • @PeteSasqwax
      @PeteSasqwax  Рік тому +1

      Ah, man, that makes perfect sense - it's exactly what I'm about. I've always gravitated towards the darker, dirtier end of things but tried to keep the fun in there at the same time. It means a load that it comes across that way! 🙏

    2:37 some things don't have bass 😶

    • @PeteSasqwax
      @PeteSasqwax  Рік тому +1

      😂 it felt so wrong as soon as I'd said it. "Some things don't have a separate bass track because the 808s in the drums take up all the space" is what I should have said!
