I hate to comment on UA-cam but this man right here knows what he's talking about. I've been on UA-cam for 6 years, built 1.3M sub channels (and others not as big). This is the FIRST time I see someone really talking about UA-cam secrets. Love You Man.
Appreciate you. I’m trying to get the real info out there
1.3mil subs is mad. but change your thumbnails bro pls
How much did you pay for your subscriber's brah? You obviously bought them.
Either you bought your subs or you have absolutely no viewer loyalty at all because your views are atrocious for a channel of your size. 😮
@@user-my6mu5fv5j If you are looking at their recent views, they used to get a lot of views. The channel is very informative. I just don't know what has gone wrong now. I literally watched that channel grow to a million during the pandemic.
I like small channels. UA-cam is missing out because they are pushing the mega channels which I avoid.
If they push small channels, they will become mega and you will avoid them 🤷🏾♂️
If the channel is good, it’s gonna grow.
Agreed... there's more life and raw, real personality.
You rock lily
@@Elzii I disagree. I have 5 channels now. The one with content that appeals to those of low IQ or greedy nature is doing the best. It has been an interesting experiment.
I subscribe to hundreds of small channels and interact a lot on them. Big channels are too busy to have a community, too busy to answer questions.
Agreed
I remember when I started following you I had about 50 subs, now reaching to 20.000 I feel that the time I took learning, trying, working hard is paying off. Thanks for everything, I am really greatful for everything that you taught me and I wish you all of the success for you! Thanks again! God bless you!
Wow congratulations 👏
Top Demais mano
but how much money are u making from your channel ? people who want to do this need to know dollar amounts much more than subs amounts .
Roberto dropping facts as usual! UA-cam is a difficult platform but hard work and dedication can take you far. Especially if you're open to learning and improving with each video you create. Not to mention being able to accept responsibility when a video fails. Blaming the algorithm gets you nowhere.
I agree with you!
I am also learning that the TOP creators out there aren't necessarily the BEST! Take Roberto for instance, he drops gems ALL THE TIME (by himself!) that are MUCH more in depth and practical (in my opinion), yet there are MANY other UA-camrs that are larger with more views.
The size and view count of a channel does not dictate the VALUE of the PERSON however, the size of a channel and it's view count do dictate it's value to UA-cam (The Company).
I think this is an IMPORTANT distinction to make and grasp/learn. To be UA-cam successful one MUST "play the game". To reach one's full potential, one just needs to be true to his or her purpose and capabilities. (which is what Roberto does on UA-cam and OUTSIDE of UA-cam.)
Roberto teaches how to balance the two equally so that you can get results from both sides of the spectrum.
Personally I find that my videos that "FAIL" are the one's I REALLY enjoy making! The one's that succeed are the one's I MUST make to be relevant on this platform. So I plan on making 1 video a month for me and the other for UA-cam.
Great comment!
Yes I know what U said. Rome was not built in a single day. Punctually perpetual workman spirit is the motive force behind every success story
I have to say that mine is failing. 330 videos and only 2000 subs. $CPM is going down not up.
Then again, I can't be full time, only 5-7 hours/week, so maybe this was the best it could be. I am monetized, but that doesn't cover even the cost of the Envato Elements.
I only continue because I like doing it. A few hundred people watch each video, 98% upvote ratio, about 10 comments praising my work. So I continue on.
Dude, there's nothing wrong with that. I do what I do with my channel because I enjoy doing it. It's been that way from day one. I feel like worrying too much about making my channel profitable instead of enjoying what I'm doing will be the thing that makes me fall.
Keep at it, man.
honestly speaking, your thumbnails are bad.
I suggest you look at what the most successful finance yotubers do with their thumbnails. Try to copy 1 or 2 things they do and you might end up with more people watching your videos
There is nothing wrong with a hobby channel and even MrBeast has to make 460 to break into 10,000 Subscribers…
@@RobertoBlake Mr Beast has an amazing personality , I watch Mr Beast just for him. That's not going to work for everyone.
youtube is a type of pyramid scheme . thats why so many youtubers make videos about how to make money on youtube , because that is the ONLY content they can offer to get any views and subs of any significant number .
This is encouraging! Here as a new content creator and looking forward to doing it the right way this time round. My take home: consistency, improving the skills and giving it time.
Great realistic advice here! Those stats are super interesting, and I think most people would be surprised to learn.
In many ways, I find the stats motivating I have about 4000 subscribers and some of my videos have over 1000 views one has around 13,000
@@grassrootspianoGood for you! I’m a long way off, but this still gives me motivation to become better and stay consistent.

Roberto, there are still a lot of comments thinking the "AlgOriThM" doesn't like small channels (not true, but it can feel that way ) and it gave me the best ever video idea. Stay with me...
Get a few established channels to start a new channel from scratch and post like 3 videos to see if it gets traction in the algorithm. No advertising on the main channels or promoting the new channel in any type of way. I would bet money most of the channels have over 2k- 50k views per video and 1k subscribers after 1-2 months depending on niche. I would 100% do this. I would even film on my phone and only use natural light for filming.
Where's the template
Wow! I definitely have the odds stacked against me: I'm 47, I work full-time, I take care of my kids and elderly grandparents so I do not have the time, energy or money to compete with top small chqnnels ....but, I think these things may also be my differentiator. I'm working on my consistency. Thank you for this❤❤❤
Posted my first videos THIS WEEK!
Wow! I NEEDED this.
Felt as though you were speaking directly to me.
Liked, subscribed, purchased the creator pack, and ordered your book. Thank you!
I also feel like his talking to me😅. Good advice indeed m. I hope we make it❤
As Scrooge McDuck once said, Work smarter, not harder
We need to work smarter but also harder. All the successful people work really hard. They put in their hours.
Sounds like a wise man or duck 😂
I always get that backwards. 😂
I also think it's a mix between those 2 essential things!😉
Facts
WOW! What a humbling, realistic, motivational video! I LOVE how you don't paint unrealistic expectations about growing and thriving on UA-cam.
You BRING TO THE FRONT the reality of younger creators having the time, being willing to take the risks and having an understand of the platform itself!
You also beautifully painted the picture that creators don't need to be POPULAR to be successful at UA-cam!
My goal is to hit 10k in the next couple months! Thanks for the motivation! 💪🏾
I'm gonna buy "Create Something Awesome" TODAY! I believe it's going to be a good read! 👍🏾
This was my goal with the video 🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@RobertoBlake And THANK YOU!
@@RobertoBlake The stats breakdown in this video is awesome and VERY realistic! I've always felt that the odds of reaching full time UA-cam income is somewhere less than 1% and it sounds like that is about correct. This is easily one of the top YT advice videos I've seen.
Great post and so well said! I started my young UA-cam journey 4 months ago and like you mentioned in your comments, humbling, realistic, motivational video!
This was very good. I’m older, work full time, married, homestead, and just plugging along in a small niche subject. But since I love it, I just keep going. This was very insightful. Thanks Roberto.
And someday I’ll have to do more with thumbnails 😊
“If you are replaceable as a content creator, don’t be surprised that you are not growing.” This one hit hard.
Appreciate another informative video
I swear 🥲
Love seeing these numbers. This is my second time building a channel. Took a few months to get monetized and focused on a mix of long form and shorts to get to where I want.
Great motivational video! As someone with over two decades of video production experience I feel like I am starting all over. UA-cam, even if you know the technical side is hard but what I love it being able to produce as I like and finding useful adjustments that fit this crazy and difficult to understand platform. Not giving up. Never giving up.
Keepin' it real! Great balance of motivation, insight, and reality.
Appreciate you 🙏🏾
I'm not even gonna lie this is some amazing advice, keep up with the quality content. I can't imagine how many creators this must be helping.
Thanks. What do you think was the most helpful?
Always a goldmine of information and inspiration. Thanks Roberto 🖤
Great video, great advice. It's refreshing to see real videos and advice that you can actually learn and grow from. No fluff, to the point and bookmark worthy. Thanks.
This is incredibly valuable. So powerful. Thank you so much for researching, preparing, and delivering this!
I've never heard of you. No clue of this channel. But it pops up on the feed. Interesting title. Click. Seconds in. One minute in.10 minutes in... this is a MASTER CLASS!!! I am screen recording this so that if it ever is taken down, I still have it LOL I am sharing this video as soon as I click comment with a few peeps I know that could massively benefit from this. You.... wow man. Good stuff. I could go on and on and on, but..... well done. Thank you! Liked and Subbed!!!
This comment made my day
I really enjoyed this. As a small creator in a very specific niche this helped me to understand that it’s ok to grow slow and that should be expected. Thank you!
Super good overview! Thanks for sharing 👍
Much love 💕
Matthias 👋
This is super helpful and advice I really needed to hear! Still trying to figure out how to grow with my channel and niche but slow and steady wins the race and consistency is key! Thank you😊
I checked out your channel and wanted to say how warm and peaceful, your titles and thumbnail made me feel. I had to subscribe!
@@selenanthings that’s so so nice to hear, thank you! Welcome to the community☺️
I think this is my favourite video of the month. Those graphs which show time and amount of videos to reach a certain amount of subscribers is very encouraging in the right direction, I haven't reached 7 years yet and it looks like I'm on a good track.
great advice, as always! I've started thumbnail research based on who I subscribe to and others in my niche. When I create them, now I try to determine if it's something I would click on or be drawn to before I say it's "good". I've also heard that some creators build their thumbnail before even filming to get them excited to make the content. Titles are something that I still struggle with though.
I usually don't like these HOW to grow your UA-cam post, but this one I did like and felt gave some good advice. I also liked the use of B-Roll footage within the post. Good stuff!
What font you typically like about them and what do wish they did differently?
@@RobertoBlake Just the repeat/repackaging of the same info..Better thumbnail, make good content, find your niche...Now all good advice but when their ENTIRE channel is just that with a clickbaity TN I just go to the do not recommend. It would be different if I found a channel that was focused on a THING like games, sports, collecting. Then THEY made a how to grow that worked. vs that is all a channel does.
Thanks Roberto! Another awesome video. And That grey background rocks!
Roberto, I have watched many “grow your YT channel” videos, but THIS video! Your stats, reasons why, and suggestions, made so much since! Great job!🌻 New sub!
Definitely was aiming to make this one a video you haven’t watched before. That’s more or less my plan going forward.
@@RobertoBlake That’s why you got a new sub!🥰
I like how real you are in this video. Most bigger UA-camrs say you don’t need good video or audio just keep posting and eventually you’ll blow up and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Thank you for this!
Had to comment three minutes in..this is a much appreciated motivational video to get my second channel started thank you so much Roberto!👍😀
Hey Roberto, thanks for the vid. I was just telling my wife that I need to be better to get better results. And not blaming YT for not “promoting” my content. Thanks bro!
Likewise 👍🏾
super motivating. I knew everything you’ve said but had yet to apply it.
Thanks for the tips. I picked up your thumbnail template pack.
Great advice, straight to the point! Will definitely be using these pointers. Thanks
Very insightful video! The number in the beginning was an eye opener! Makes me feel much better about my travel and 4x4 channel in South Africa. The market is much smaller...
This is pure GOLD! Amazing presentation and content 👏🏼
Thanks for sharing your channel. Very informative and helpful to us small content creator. Keep it up!❤
Thanks for being so honest. UA-cam pushing so much big channels clouds your view on what your goal should be. It’s important people know that low views does not mean you bad videos. Sometimes the upload time can also make a big difference
Yeah but if only like 3 people are actually watching is there a point?
Tons of great advice in this one Roberto!
This was so right and so "on points". Thanks for this Roberto, enjoyed and learned ! Awesome !
Thanks for doing all the research Roberto, you have been doing this for a long time I see.
Spot on advice as usual. Thanks Mr Blake.
Very interesting video! I love that you shared specific numbers, like how how many videos you uploaded, over what period of time and the results you got. That is very enlightening. I remember first watching your videos years ago and your advice has always been excellent. Thank you for sharing this Roberto!
Thanks. What do you think makes my videos different?
advice beyond "you can do it too, just look at me, if i can do it anybody can", excellent
They are being dishonest just to get more view in the future. Telling the truth is going to drive people away..... Offering them hope and telling them to keep going makes return viewers more possible which in turns drives everything for them..... Very dishonest of them not to just say well more than 90% of you will never make it according to current statistics based on the last X number of years.
Damn this gave me some motivation to continue! Thank you Roberto ❤
As a new content creator, this was a very centering & encouraging video! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for your videos! I really appreciate your way of analyzing information and providing statistics. It gives me so much to be inspired by while improving my channel. Thank you 🙏🏽
Awesome 👍 Thank you Roberto. This video was very informative, insightful and inspirational.😊❤
purchased your templates THANKS ROBERTO
How are you liking them?
I'm still small, channel-wise, but I am content with what I've got, as opposed to feeling worthless and chasing view like where I once was. What I've learnt makes me better and that matters to me. My crappy vids, some of them have good content but the vid is awful. I am revamping those old vids and that's working well. I'm also engaging a lot in the community tab. And that's the thing, my niche might keep me small right now, but engagement is amazing. THAT is worth so much to me. And after learning so much, I feel I am growing as a person, as a creator, regardless of the numbers.
What would being the largest channel in your niche look like?
@@RobertoBlake I suppose it would look like having between 5K and 50K subscribers and being one of the go-to people for all things lore for that specific video game, a place for fun discussions and crazy theories where even more people are chiming in their theories and viewpoints on the story of the franchise. In my niche, 5K subs is good, the rare few who have more than 30K either do other games too or have been around much longer. The engagement would be exponentially higher than it already is (which is pretty amazing right now).
Good knowledge I will be using some tips THANKS Roberto‼️
Gotta get that book!!👊🏾💯🤝🏾
Hope you enjoy it
Tx t Robert for your
food for thought! I heard you loudly and clearly! Keep up the good WORK!! Again, tx
So informative content Reberto as always.
Glad you think so!
I love those harsh UA-cam stats. Much needed for anyone looking to grow their channel with a proper plan based on data.
How did u gain success here bruh
@@Swissvmillie1 I made hundreds of programming videos teaching data structures, algorithms, and more. I've not been consistent as I'm busy with so many things, but I'm still enjoying organic growth.
Making hundreds of practical search friendly content in a growing niche
@@RobertoBlake Exactly! I hope to return to regular content production next year.
Simply one of your best videos yet Roberto. I've gone "full time" last month with my brand (Audio podcast and YT). Where as the audio pod has grown incredibly well, its a painfully slow growth on YT. I think an open review over the next few weeks are in order and pay attention to your points in this video. Thanks
Appreciate you and all the love on Twitter. What makes this one of my better videos?
@@RobertoBlake It had a slower, more personal vibe to me Roberto. Plus, some genuinely spot on points about the market, our own specific competition. It stood out to me (not that the others don't)
I feel way better after watching this! Thank you! Very nice to know some of the stats!! Incredible
Great advice, find a contrarian non-generic perspective that no one else can mimic your content with or find a way to enhance the content you create or recreate. If you duplicate bring new value to your topics with a unique perspective............all great ideas!!!
Great video Roberto! I love what you said about being a destination channel. that resonated with me!
It’s going to be my main rhesus mmm thesis for content creation
Roberto is always keeping it real...I always like the "here is the reality and here is what you can do about it" style of your videos.
That’s basically what my goal is for all my content going forward.
one reason I love this channel is because of how RAW it is, it taught me how to be genuinely REAL with myself, but I also always knew I COULD do this. consistency matters because it translates for real, you become better no matter what lol I feel for the channels I see who've been at it for 10 years and haven't learned to adapt...unfair advantages are real... idk there's much to say but growing the channel is probably the easiest part I learned... but.. monetizing is the true beast I can't seem to conquer Y.Y
Have you watched my video on getting the watch hours for Monetization?
@@RobertoBlake absolutely! I'm definitely at a point where I'm working with brands and negotiating etc, Y.Y
@@RobertoBlake Please give me a link to watch it. I tried searching for it but it was an uphill task because you way too many videos uploaded.
You are right when I was making gaming videos it was struggling
When I put memes in my videos it started getting traction
When I started making memes on shorts and doing streams offering to play with viewers I noticed momentum building up
I think I still got a long way ahead to really teake off but I'm on good track and having fun with it
Just gotta keep making something that is unique and figure out how you add something to the niche

I just still not sure if I want to make polish content or english content that atracts polish People speaking english
Or polish content about english/US culture
Cose I swapped out of polish internet over 6 years and many poilsh People do the same, having resentment from polish content but when it's english and discover there is a part about Poland we love it
I know it's complicated 😅
Thank you, Roberto -- and I mean this sincerely -- for convincing me that I'm wasting my time. I've had fairly successful YT channels in the past (10+ years ago), but everything is different now: the focus is on selling, selling, SELLING, not creating. I'm a creator, without any of the advantages you mentioned (eg, money, youth) -- and now, without Twitter (where i had 12k+ followers) or any other viable outside social media, I have nowhere to even tell anybody about my videos. I think I'm done banging my head against the wall. But I thank you, Roberto -- you really buoyed my hopes for a long time.
Did you lose access to your Twitter?
@@RobertoBlake No, I left just before Musk took over. I could not in good conscience remain associated with it. Since then (April '22) I've tried just about every other platform, from multiple Mastodon instances to Threads, and (as I'm sure you already know) nothing works like Twitter did.
Awesome video! Really puts everything into perspective, thanks for making this video!
One of the greatest videos that I have heard! Yes, we can "Create Something Awesome!" I will check out your book!
You make me proud ALL THE TIME! Love the analysis. Having so many problems. I can use this.
Great video, esp about focusing on the first 8 secs - which I’m really trying to improve.
I will always remember back in 2021 when we were running a Clubhouse room. There was a wannabe comedian getting defensive about your advice. He said, “I don’t think it’s fair for you to judge me on the initial 15 secs!!” You simply responded, “that short window is ALL we have!!!”
I remember that. I think a lot of people have their emotions tied up in validation, especially aspiring entertainers…
Fair has nothing to do with attention you want from other people…
This was so helpful. Encouraging, useful, and inspiring. 🙏🙏🙏
really good advice! Will try to implement this into my videos, this video has changed my mindset.
Just found you dude...most helpful. Thank you for breaking this down for small channels like mine. Just reached my first 1K!
Wow these stats are bonkers!!
500+ videos is incredible but also is reassuring because it just shows consistency wins!!
Thank you for always keeping it💯
Wow... that is so much information in one video. Thank you Roberto 😊😊
Loved this video, thanks Roberto! The statistics about what success looks like was very illuminating and really drove home your point that consistency matters. We've got to start innovating more!
Oh by the way - the tip you gave on titles ... that's an epic list for Chapter Titles for a book too.
This is great advice! Thank you so much for this video.
This is GREAT advice! Very down to earth. As a small channel (at the moment), I’ve been looking for the words you just spoke to help grow my channel. Granted, I’m still learning and I know it’ll take some time, but I truly believe when I use this advice it will definitely help. I started my channel under a year ago and I’m at 415 subscribers currently. I’m going to use this advice from here on out. Thank you sir, this is much appreciated!
Thank you for keeping it real and telling it like it is!!
Appreciate you
Hey Roberto! I’m returning back to this video, from my other channel, Fine Natural Hair ROCKS, to say thank you very much for your SOLID advice in this video!
I am a lawyer content creator however I wasn’t sure how to make my UA-cam passion work well for me. I’ve been thinking about the best approach to UA-cam for a long time and then you literally spoke about lawyer UA-camrs throughout your video. That was so unexpected yet amazingly helpful because now I have a clearer idea of where I want to go with my legal UA-cam channel. Thank you very much for everything you do.
P.S. your book is awesome! I can’t wait to get my hands on your new book that you mentioned you’re writing on your podcast! 🔥🙌🏾

I just ran across this video... Thank You, I now realize I'm doing better than average for a small start up channel... I know I'm in a small niche, but its been a long time hobby, almost 2 years in and over 700 subs... I have noticed my viewership has dropped off some, so I need to keep working on things, again Thank You, just what I needed to hear at this time...

That's insane, man! Thanks this gave me such a mood boost. Appreciate the video! 35 yr old, married and 4 kids. But my growth has been solid.
Great video. Helpful info and thankfully not boring af
Those stats actually made me feel better, but now I know I have WAY more work to do. Thanks Roberto!
Glad to hear it! That is what I was hoping people were taking away.
You're so right about reaction videos. I generally detest react videos because it's just some personality who's watching video on TikTok and they just go "Wow!" or "No way!" and all they do is make a series of facial expression and funny remarks. I learn absolutely nothing new, and there's nothing to take away about the video other than it's trending on TikTok.
I do enjoy watching "Expert reacts to" or "Professional reacts to" videos. Whenever I watch a lawyer react to Better Call Saul, or U.S. Air Force pilot reacts to Top Gun, or former mobster reacts to The Sopranos, I get to learn from their perspective how Hollywood portrays their profession. I get to learn from their personal experiences in the field and how accurate the characters and story are depicted and what did Hollywood get right or wrong.
I also enjoy debunking videos. Not everything you see on TikTok is true or good advice. I love it when an auto mechanic rips apart bad advice on repairing cars, or when a chef has to explain that there's a better way to cook this meal, or when a tech expert has to point out that this video is just giving worthless advice and is trying to sell you a product.
Great stuff Roberto! ❤
Excellent video Bro. Thank you. On it now!

Thanks for the tips! It's really frustrating when nothing is happening when you already invested time and effort, but I will stick to my niche. :)
