That car isn't "fiberglass". It was a polymer plastic and the tolerances GM demanded on the body panels were less than 1/2mm (more strict than Rolls Royce).
Back when this V8 convesion was done, this was the swap to do in your Fiero, but now the 5.3 LS4 is the swap you want. It actually goes in easier (relatively) than the 4.9 and has WAY more hp and way more performance parts available.
@Normal_cat5150 nobody likes a whiny little bitch either. I'm sorry you're so offended by me making a factual statement. 🤣 Please name these "tons" of V8's that fit better? This is a rhetorical question of course, because there aren't any V8's that fit better than the Northstar or LS4.

Honestly bro, unless you're going to be racing your Fiero, the 2.8 V6 GM made was perfectly fine. You just don't want that turd of a Iron Duke 2.5 Liter 4 cyl. I'd be skeptical about getting a V8 swapped Fiero, simply because there's so many things that can go wrong. It's a crap shoot.
It was actually a local shop called Accelerators Inc. in Elkhart, Indiana. It was one of their employees personal car. They did an awesome job with it!
@@marks4374 yeah I checked it out but unfortunately only after I commented I have a GM book that worded it in a confusing way lol

I assume this was an aftermarket transmission, he just didn't know it. Like another comment said the 5 speed was added in '86 (I've only seen '87 and '88 with them though).

Why do you feel the need to be "THAT GUY"?
@@zibafairchild6185 Idk. Why are you so butthurt?
These 4.9 Fieros are pretty amazing.
Yes they are! We were very impressed with the performance of this Fiero.

5sp became available for the 88 and last year only
Actually it was added in 86 and a half in the GT. All 87’s and 88’s have them as the standard transaxle.

4.9 litre Pontiac engine?
4.9 liter Cadillac V8
A V8 in a Fiero and you don't even show the engine. WTF!!!!
Yea sorry about that. This video is an older format before we started doing the walk-around inspections in our videos.
Not fiberglass. DuPont plastic.
