This concert video is a true treasure. I lost count of how many times I have watched it. And it fascinates me every single time. I play lead guitar in a Santana tribute band and watch anything with Santana music I can find....but this video is my number one go to place for inspiration.
Just incredible! Zeppelin were touring all the same venues as Santana in June/July 1980. Jimmy Page joined Santana on an encore on this Euro Tour…..I can’t remember which gig it was though.
Great upload. Thanks for sharing! Carlos is just killing it. Love that Buffalo Sabres hockey jersey he has on. lol Cheers 👍
Probably one of the best recording lives from Santana with David Margen Armando Peraza Graham Lear Orestes Vilato & Raul Rekow : Just an all star group !!!
Saw them on this tour. Simply fantastic stretching musical boundaries each and every song. One of Carlos' top lineups. Tireless and inspirational. Thank you, Carlos, for more than a half century of wonderful music.
Mis mejores hayeres metales cuerdas percucion gracias la gatta....
Raul Rekow's solo during the chant... still sends shivers up my spine today to see such intensity!
Alex Ligertwood was a great singer ... Graham Lear on drums ... great band
Alex Ligertwood IS still a great singer. See his live videos from recent years.
🎉 Certainly ẞrought back memories. Ive seen Carlos Santana 2 times in Chicago 🎉

Awesome. Thanks for sharing. In my opinion the most vital lineup of the band. The Ligertwood era of Santana.
His eminent vocals truly fit like a cap on top of this incredible music. And my oh my... what musicianship Santana has gathered here.
I was lucky enough to see them in concert. I think it was the year after...1981 or perhaps even 1982. That was in the Stockholm Ice Stadium.
It is still today the best and most vital concert I have been to.
The pure love of music, the joy that emanated from the stage was fantastic. The absolute NO-posing as rockstar ego bullshit, filled the stadium with something that brought people together, sharing happiness and oneness. People were dancing and celebrating life. And they played marvelously. This was of course long before the mobile phones came in and made everyone in the audience film makers instead of partakers, which in my opinion ruins a concert. People don't seem to understand that. Filming is not the same as being present. Showing a concert to your mates on your mobile is not the same as telling.
Best live music I ever experienced, without a doubt.
Indeed a fantastic concert.....but I personally prefer Santana with Greg Walker and Tom Coster. I guess with the Inner Secrets album Santana already was starting to commercialize. But, to me, when Ligertwood joined was when Santana started to even more divert to more mainstream , bankable music. Don't get me wrong....Ligertwood is a great singer but I feel Santana's musical direction changed a bit with him.
Got lucky during these years.
Saw Alex Ligertwood AND
David Walker sing together with Santana.
I saw Carlos Santana do many amazing things in his SOLOing in these days.
He was ripping off to name few
Jimi Hendriix, Alan Holdsworth,
Al Di Meola, Wes Montgomery and John Coltrane and Wayne Shorter and John McLaughlin. And, even Jimmy Page !!!
On an outdoor Full moon summer eveningin 1984 in
Santa Maria, California
I witnessed two of the greatest
Rock vocalists just completely
WAIL AWAY in English and Spanish.!!!!
And even Carlos himself singing his ass off. ....!!!!
I can say Santana in their prime here
were unstoppable non Stop
SRO dance and boogie our ass off
killer ROCK CONCERTS.....
Santana waa on it in the late 70s early 80s... Good material plus classic covers as singles!!
Alex Ligertwood is the glue
Shame about recent years etc

Thank you, thank you, thank you
I've seen this concert in Westphalenhalle. Till today I didn't know that it was recorded from the WDR. So this is a wonderfull remember and reunion ❣
Thank you very much!!!!!
Intense... with Alex on vocals... and the percussion extradinaire.
Santana mi favorito de siempre
❤
You don't see him much in this video but the talented DAVID MARGEN is there playing the electric bass guitar like a boss!!
instantly recognizable sound, style and music. I felt in love with his creativity instantly!
Been looking for this live version of "Incident at Neshabur" for the longest time! Simply transcendent!
The tones here are outstanding
Even though the recording is at times rough. The volume drop outs are maddening but the ensemble playing
feels like your on stage. Carlos' tone
is clean & distorted especially his rhythm playing. The Yamaha and the wide open
MKII Mesa Boogies in stereo are knocking it out of the park.....
Can't say enough good things about this concert. Simply magical. Best of the best. Thank you very much indeed for putting it up here.
Yo estoy en ese concierto y que suerte he tenido, de vivir la mejor época de la música.
seguro
This is a really great show for me . I saw Santana for the first time in Los Angeles two months after this concert. This show is bringing back so many great memories!
The best Latin rock music ever played in this planet
YESSSSSS
You are right 😊
Deep character and richness of sound with each of the band's members with this line up. Also, I think one of my favorite Santana line-ups.
WOOOW
ABSOLUT GIGANTISCH, HABE ICH ZEIT 1980 GESUCHT, DIE VOLLVERSION, HIFI.
FRAGE WO KANN ICH DIE DVD KAUFEN ? DANKE FÜR HILFE !
VIELEN DANK FÜR DEN STREAM
An excellent jam I can honestly say. Whoa folks, Music will set. U4sure. Free!!!!!!!
Santana at the top of their game... seen a lot of videos of live shows with them, but this one stand out as one of the best I've seen ... on my humble opinion their releases through those years (late 70s, early 80s) were not their greatest (besides Oneness), but I guess that was for commercial reasons ...
Lovely music
Amazing!
can hear santana and listen to the amazing vocals of Alex for hourrrrrrrssssss
Excellent concert. Thank you for sharing.
This is just fantastic!Thank you for uploading it.
The jewel of the all all

FYI, it's Greg Walker, not David Walker, and you didn't see them together in these years since this is 1980. The only time both Greg and Alex were in the band together at the same time was 1984/85

Sorry you missed my Santa Barbara County Fair show in the Summer of 1984 in Santa Maria California on a full moon night.
Greg Walker, Alex Ligertwood and Carlos Santana on stage the whole show. Singing in English and Spanish all three sometimes in unison or harmony. Alex with a thick Scottish accent singing in flawless Spanish. What can I say except that Carlos played thousands of dates non stop for decades in total. His band members had runs with in and without his touring and recording dates. I am not a pedantic critic generally speaking. But, my experiences are shared and as unique as anyone else's.
Le lendemain c'était bob marley sur la même scène le 13/06/1980 d'ailleurs Santana fait monter sur scène al anderson et tyrone downie pour la dernière chanson 👍
Super-show

Is that still the same drummer from woodstock???
........drummer is Graham Lear
No, the drummer at Woodstock was Michael Shrieve, the drummer on Santana's first seven albums.
