I really found this to be a game changer, in that this game is what taught me to look for where their body is, where the feet are, and where the nose is. Thank you for teaching it in your clinics, and sharing this short tutorial, Ryan.
Great tutorial thanks mate. Succinct! It's common to see lunging on the circle done in mindless manner for long periods of time and too often horses are chased hard with flags. You have demonstrated beautifully that it does not need to be like that to be effective. Monty Roberts once made the comment to me at one of his demonstrations that he believes that often back related issues can appear in horses that are lunged excessively whilst being allowed to look to the outside i.e. counter-bent. I'm going straight out to practice it now! Thanks & Cheers Calvin.
I will SO be trying this! I didn’t realize until recently how important it is that the horse must search for relief on the INSIDE, instead of against the wall. Thank you for your wisdom.
Hi Ryan, my horse is not reactive to the flag , he doesn't want to go forward, you make this look so easy. I've gone back to just doing a few steps at a time.
My horse has a pretty good circling game longer range, but when trying this he doesn't seem to understand that he is supposed to go forward and stay on the circle. It seems I need to keep driving him just about the whole time. (?)
I think I found the answer. I believe I am not creating draw when I am on my circle. I believe that is where I am running into issues. I know there is a bit of druthers too but I am probably making it worse because I am not offering an invitation to be with me.
Amazing. I worked the three circle with my guy (horse) 😁. He is sensitive too ! I see where I was making a huge error. When he would speed up I would put the lunge whip in front and draw his head in. Didn't work made him go faster. I'll be doing the ribs today. Makes way more sense 😊

How would I do this with a horse that has a really hard time bending? Very stuck in his shoulders and ribs.

A different take on the circle. Good demo. Good reasoning. T.Y.
