I know of a distillery that bottles Rum on Monday, Brandy on Tuesday and Whisky on Wednesday-and then repeats the cycle. You get the idea. Sundays are for desi tharra. There is always a line up of tankers full of neutral spirits ex-molasses waiting to discharge its 95% ethanol. The distillery has only one huge still, with a capacity of some 50,000L. About 20,000 L of ethanol goes into this huge still, which is diluted with water-roughly 25,000L. Then the Brand Essence Concentrate is added and the still is heated till a perfect mix is obtained. This is led through worm tubs for cooling and passing on for bottling. Here, care is exercised to get the ABV (42.8*) / Proof (75%) correct. The labelled bottles then go into a bonded warehouse where the bottles leaving the hangar are counted and excise duty calculated thereon.
By the way, there is nothing strange about this process or distillery. 90% of our distilleries follow this procedure. The neutral spirit is usually molasses, but the slightly more expensive brands use grain not molasses, or a mix of both. Unique names too-Green Lantern Whisky, Circus Rum, Winchester Brandy...

Cheap whiskey gives much more hangover next day as compared to premium whiskey..... through personal and experience
Cheaper 'whiskies' (technically a lot of the budget Indian made whiskies are not even whisky) have added flavourings and colours, might not have been so carefully distilled so as to remove congeners etc.
Because they adulterated the cheap whiskey. So they give hangover. If you purchased same brand from army canti there will be difference

Cheap alcohol gives you after intake headache whereas branded/expensive gives you pre intake headache (due to its high cost).....

How do you get to identify the taste of flavours in a whiskey just like vanilla, orange peel, honey etc. But when we have liquor neet, I always end up having the bitter taste only and sometimes some spiciness in single malts.

Truely said sir, you said it right that it is not the quality of liquor,it is the quantity of liquor that we drink matters . Moderation is the key.

Hi, I want to know about price difference of alcohals in gurgaon and noida. For ex. Red label is around 1100 in gurgaon and 2400 in noida. Both of the bottles holding same things or what is the difference.
You can have it from ggn or Delhi. Its 1410 in Delhi. Quality is also good.
Is rum like old monk better than cheap whisky.
Can you make a list of budget alcohol or in premium luxury alcohol which has minimal adjunct and minimum added flavour.. I found j&b rare as one of finest premium brand in it...

Agreed. But, I wonder Rum doesn't cause hangover even though it is so low in price. On the other hand, some higher priced whiskeys like Teachers and 100 pipers cause hangovers. Why?

I don't drink everyday. I manage to get a fine whiskey and use it through the month on weekends. Jim Beam,William Lawson,Red Label, etc. Hopefully will be on a spot in life one day that these will turn into Glenfiddichs

You will not know because company will not tell how many impurities have been removed.

Whisky and wine are two completely different things, so nobody can say one is better than the other. But from safety point of view, wines can be safer to consume because they have a lower alcohol content so it takes much more quantity to get drunk. Also adulteration of wine is not as common as adulteration of spirits in India

You are exposing your poor understanding of the liquor production. It is not ageing or malt or grain for the cost. Though ageing does contribute towards cost but the main reason for cost increase is the process of distillation and removal of congeners. They are aldehydes and ketones. Repeated distillation removes the congeners. That is the main reason of cost increase. Companies price the product as per the expenses incurred. But it the faulty policy of government which imposes excise as per the cost and not as per the impurities which were not removed and it is the impurities which cause bad effect of alcohol like hangover, damage to liver or ulcers.
