You should watch the making of, they had advisors. Surprising since it is a cartoon. They were trying to get the sounds right too.
Fun fact, Val Kilmer (Iceman) and Anthony Edwards (Goose) voice the 2 F-18's midway through the movie.
Since you did this, you're now obligated to do Jay Jay the Jet Plane
I'm surprised that you didn't say anything about the Jolly Wrenchers insignia. At least, I was expecting you to say "Oh! they're Jolly Rogers!"
Love the fact that a movie meant for kids is more realistic than most military themed movies.
One could also assume that his pitch ladder and whatever that Crosshair was doing before he switched to WH TFLIR which I don’t know how he has that in his HMD, but those two things being offset or skewed could mean his HMD is trash which makes a lot more sense
The Jet planes are voiced by Val Kilmer and Anthony Edwards.
Mover, this is good stuff! Good comms’ also sold me on this! My grandson loves planes and wants to be a pilot and he loves this movie, so you may have further inspired him!
I laughed for longer than I'd like to admit at "Fly a heading..."
Mover, a civilian aircraft has indeed in the past been landed on an aircraft carrier, during the evacuation of South Vietnam the captain of the USS midway ordered a number of Hueys thrown over board to make room for an O-1 bird dog to land. It had a south Vietnamese airforce major, his wife and 5 kids onboard (pretty impressive for a 2 seat plane.......)
6:18 they also landed A C130 for tests, no arrestor wire, and it also took off, no catapult. Video’s on UA-cam
When I was a young croppy I briefly worked with Dusty, the guy was ALWAYS getting lost so it does not surprise me they had to intercept. Last I heard he was last seen flying straight up into a mothership with some nut job screaming “I’M BACK”.
I realized that they had Mavericks helmet, for got that the Goose and Iceman actors did the movie.
You can never start too early with proper comms! Thjs looks like fun movie though!
"Mover tries to ruin a movie but the dialogue is too realistic"
I love that VFA-103 is known as the Jolly Wrenchers
A play on the actual name
The accuracy to real life aviation is one of the handful of good things about this movie.
The helmets are Goose and Iceman pretty cool
Edit: saw someone said they’re voiced by Anthony and Val. Explains it
Gotta start talking good com early enough, to avoid any bad habits. By the time kids grow up and are able to get their pilots license, their com should be spot on... lol
Blue helmet is Val Kilmer, AKA Ice Man, and the red helmet is Anthony Greene aka Goose.
Been waiting for someone to review this movie
My lil sister is watching Super Wings and it always hurts me when I see them constantly flying with burners on
They had a Cessna fleeing S. Vietnam after we pulled out make an unscheduled landing on a carrier
2:48
Screen on the bottom left says “Ordnance Bay 3/4 -
2 sidewinder missiles”
Right screen says “cannon 1000 rounds - temp OK - lock available”
There is also the scene where he cat launches from the aircraft carrier which would be worth checking out.
FINALLY!! The review I've been waiting for!
This was a quick and fun one, but damn that was good and funny at the same time. Even got the realistic call outs, nice.
Fun Fact: there is an actual case where a small civilian plane landed on a carrier. During Vietnam a small Cesna landed on a US carrier. I think there's footage of it on UA-cam if you search it
Its weird that Mover is more impressed with this movie and how its more accurate, than most movies he has ruined lol
Awesome, I was hoping an aviation guy would cover Planes at some point!
I love the fact that a kids movie has some of the best comms we have seen in this series 🤣
The director has went to the USS eisenhower to collect info about real life phrases and things that the crews and tower on the deck actually say. So he put it all together to the movie. It turned out good and I really want a new movie just about the navy😭
The “Jolly Ranchers” is based off of the “Jolly Rogers” squadron in real life. Their motto (or something like that) is victory, which is why they were chanting that in the clip.
