What impact did Teutonic Knights have on Russia, none as they were defeated by Prince Nevsky of Novgorod in 1242 at the Battle of the Ice. Nevsky knew the Mongols were harder to defeat as they used different tactics and instead decided to pay tribute in gold. Nevsky was the greatest commander in Europe having been named Alexander after Alexander the Great and led an army in battle when he was a boy. Nevsky scored an important victory against the Danes and Finns in 1240 at the Battle of the Neva. For his service to Russia Nevsky was proclaimed a saint 100 years later by the church.

Totally irrelevant for European, and overall history. They were sitting in the deep forests howling into eachothers faces like mad men.

Poles had 80000 strong army? Well, I find it hard to believe, as no one in Europe could muster such a big army at that time. It's wasn't China for crying out loud. At Legnica Poles had no more than 20000 - 25000 troops, most of it light infantry made of untrained, ill disciplined and ill equipped serfs. Heavily armoured knights were counted in hundreds. As for Teutonic Knights or Hospitallers there were supposedly no more than a token force, perhaps 300 of them. As good as they were in combat, they were no match for fast, manoeuvring enemy who could stay at safe distance and pepper them with armor piercing arrows till they were all dead. As was proven. Mongols won the battle easily and that wasn't even a main force, just two tumans sent up north to run interference.
Also Bbatu was at the time of Legnica with Tsubodai in Hungary, spreading fear and destruction there.

Knights were so afraid of the mongols that some even routed (retreated) before the mongols arrived because rumors went around that when you see the hoard, it is too late. And if you were caught, the mongols tortured you for fun.

Nope, they beat them. And the mongols ran as fast as they could.

@@MrAntaresX just because you are armored to the teeth doesn't mean you're invincible. There were 8 crusades and only one was successful. And all crusades had knights.

Imagine native Americans in armor. That's how the mongols were. They literally tortured prisoners for their source of entertainment. No quick death.

You do a disservice to The Mongols , The Mongols were far more advanced that the American Indians, the Bows alone are worlds apart

@@musthaveacamel2157 I meant this by brute personality. Not by advancement in technology. Like the native Americans, the mongols enjoyed torturing their enemies. Things like boiling them alive, skinning multiple thin layers of the skin, nailed to the wooden horse (similar to crucifixion), dismembering limbs by tying the limbs to horse and the horses going in separate directions, etc... it would be better to die than to be captured. Even if they didn't kill you, you were a slave until the end of your life. Prisoners were even used as the first waves of attacks, eating up the enemy's arrows, and if you tried to retreat, they'd kill you.

@@musthaveacamel2157 not to mention Mongol empire whose foundation established by Genghis Khan was far more extraordinary. It doesn't matter the age, gender, nationality or even ethnic and religion, as long as you serve the Mongol, you will be rewarded fair based on merit. Foreigners that serve Mongol can even get higher reward compared to Mongols that didn't contribute enough merit. Meanwhile the rest of the World was full of nepotism where war commanders and all other high position ranks were chosen based on royal family lines.

Yup, very effective but also brutal beyond belief and uncommonly cruel.
