After Spain 1982, Brazil started to improve their defence and finally Brazil produced great defenders and good goalkeepers.
The main thing about that World Cup was that an Italian player grabbed Zico's shirt and fouled him in the penalty area and the referee was the only person in the stadium who didn't see it, although the Italian ripped a huge part of the shirt. As it turned out there was very little to beat in Spain. All the major countries suffered with injuries or other problems and Brazil proved to have, not a team, but only a brilliant midfield. Other teams that were extremely disappointing included the Soviet Union, Yugoslavia, Peru and West Germany. Argentina were not even half the side they had been four years earlier, with Mario Kempes a shadow of his former self and Maradona a total flop. It was more than football
He was already and totally a Juventus player in 1982..... Juve bought him during his disqualification, waited for him, and let him even play 3 matches towards the end of the season, before the World Cup
I'm 49, and that match against Brazil is my first ever totally coscient life memory....and all what happened afterwards.
As a Juve fan, they were magic years, but 1982 World Cup was something else for every italian....there was a magic that there wouldn't in 2006.
1982 is the most loved italian team of all time, the most iconic.
and 1982 World Cup is the by far the greatest ever ... let's no joke:
Zico's Brazil
Maradona' Argentina
Platini's France
Rummenigge 's Germany
Boniek's Poland
the Italy we know..
Spain who played at home
all that before the hypersponsoring that would later corrupt football ....back then, it was pure passion
Unforgettable years
I actually thought that was Antonio Conte, but Bruno looked like his twin. Somehow, they're not related!
Lol, yes, even I was surprised when I was researching for the script. They look so identical. But apparently no relation at all.
Sorry, I don't want to ruin the joke but Antonio is a Conte, Bruno is a Conti. It's two different last names.
@@diegomaugeri4038 The joke isn't about the surname but how remarkably identical they look.
Conte e Conti they don't look alike at all !!! 🤌☹️
Huge difference... Bruno Conti was top class , Antonio Conte an average-good player. Different eras, too.
If Boniek played against Italy Poland would won
Socrates forever. 🇧🇷
Doctor, Socialist, Genius footballer.
Yes, one of Brazils best ever players.

Got a soft spot for Zico as well.
He was known as the “White Pele” whereas we (BWFC Fans) re-christened Tony Kelly “Zico” during his tenure with the club.
Socialist is dumb, the rest I agree with.

Socialism/Pure Communism is rooted in Empathy. Fascism/Conservatism is rooted in Sociopathy.
Centrism is either the Left playing a bit dumb to court the bigot vote or the Right that has become aware enough to realise that none of it’s beliefs will be taken seriously if it doesn’t pretend to adopt certain Socialist truths (that are almost universally recognised - for very credible reasons - to be undeniable).
InCel is one poor in shallow qualities (that can otherwise be relied upon to attract a partner) but unprepared to reconsider bullshit right-wing views that might make them more appealing to women.
I wonder which you are?
You never mentioned the referee not calling a penalty for an Italian dragging down Zico so severely in penalty area that his shirt stretched right out and ripped a big hole. That was the culmination of Italian corruption. Why would there be a scandal in Italian football? Italian football and corruption go hand in hand.
Italy won the world cup because Brazil would not settle for a tie. Had to win or nothing.
I don't think they were capable of defending well tbh. They conceded early goals through the entire tournament. They're defending for the Rossi goals was very poor.
@@TheSportsFiles-mm1kg That was their defense was to just outscore the other team.
This makes no sense. Italy was the better team overall. Brazil played well but couldn’t defend.
@@lucap6211 Brazil was the better team, as were Argentina and Germany (though for some reason, we always seem to get the better of them). The stars that simmer simply aligned, and we beat them, with good play and tactics. But in Italy '90 and also in the USA, those stars abandoned us. Such is life.
Italy played with feet and passion and determination …. Brazil only with feet
All the skill and class in this tournament came in matches involving Brazil and France
As for Italy, in the first round and against Argentina they were their old selves, dirty, cynical, time wasting and although against Brazil and in the final, they produced some counter attacking moves that few other countries could have done, you’ll never convince me that for all their skills they were the best football team in the world.
Football is crap money for jam
