First touch to Sentenced was Noose, from c casette with even worse quality, and "little" wowing. This is okay, just nostalgic. 👍

This is... in my opinion the best band in the world. Nothing like will never come again. This was the band that got me into the metal scene permanently. Sentenced til the day I die!

King Diamond Well, this requires kinda dark mind. They easily trumps King Diamond.
Sentenced was still around during Poisonblack. Ville didnt join Poisonblack until after their first album and after the death of Sentenced. Poisonblack's original singer is an a band called Charon, who are pretty awesome too. That first Poisonblack record is classic!

I reply to a 7 year old message but let's just say I hope Poisonblack wasn't on your label:) I mean, Poisonblack was Laihiala's band from the beginning, on escapectacy he was only playing guitar...and writing every other song but two. Laihiala formed Shadowlands(?) That later changed it's name to Poisonblack
But diffrent brand Mika Tenkula was The King in sentenced.

I was waiting for Iron Maiden to step on the stage of a local open air metal festival, and an early support act started playing a style of metal new to me... until the kid besides me started yelling "Noose!! Noose!!", and there it came as their closing song... I didn't even had internet back then but this band was by far the best on stage... old times hehe ^_^

It just kills me to know I won't ever see these guys playing live... I've known Sentenced for just about 2 yrs, but I don't think I'll ever love a band as much as I love them... I mean, damn, their music is unbelievable... You don't just listen to Sentenced's songs, you FEEL them!

They were the first Finnish heavy metal band I ever got into. It was around 2000 and I was looking for something different from all the nu metal/rap metal that was everywhere and was sick of it. I had never heard of this band and then I found Crimson sitting somewhere in the metal section. The album cover just spoke to me. I just knew this was something I would enjoy. So I bought it purely on that and the name Sentenced.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I listened to the album and I've loved Sentenced ever since. I always found a strong and positive light streaming through their melancholy. But I had only just discovered one act of the highly fertile Finnish Metal scene and that there was a whole avalanche of it to come at me.
Really love Finland as well, such a beautiful country with an amazing culture.

your story is really similar to mine. I was introduced to Sentenced through a friend, even though we grew apart I still am one of the passionate fans of the band. Everytime I listen to this band, I am reminded how difficult it was to survive in the wild forest that's called life and how they helped me get over my fears, anxiety and depression. I am so grateful to that friend wherever he is. Thank you man, cheers mate.

Whole Sentenced is very much missed... Miikas playing was so fucking awesome and Jarva was also phenomenal playing bass and vocals during early years... Songwriting... another level.. Love you, no homo... :)

Considering my Spotify Wrapped had this as my #1 track listened to last year, some might worry. The expressiveness and desperation in this song is not as raw as some more extreme black metal acts, but is pointed nonetheless. Also I listen to Nyktalgia when this happens, especially Exitus Letalis. If you enjoy oldies in the TV medium- the episode of The Twilight Zone called The Changing of The Guard with Donald Pleasance poignantly addresses the same bent for self-destruction.
First heard this on an album with Demons and Wizards’ Fiddler on the Green and other tracks. The Power Metal Years. But not the one I found on Discogs oddly. Great track. Great compilation.

I worked for a music magazine and I had the chance to follow Sentenced, Dark tranquillity and In flames on tour across Europe in 1999 or 2000.... nordic metal at its best!
