This cheap vs expensive series is my new favorite....thing, show, whatever. Zero elitism here and thats so appreciated. Just got around to detailing my wife's Rouge and I forgot how much I hated towel drying a car. The motorcycle dryer might not go as quick as the others but it's still worlds faster than towel drying and it's affordable. I just do friends and fam anyway so I don't need something crazy. BTW, I watched both the megs fast finish vid and the 3 in 1 vid and used both on the Rouge based on those vids and the car has never looked better, so another thanks. Keep it up and I'll keep watching.

I've used compressed air, leaf blowers and now the master blaster. There is always some residue with compressed air unless you have $1000's of dollars in air dryer/oil removal. Leaf blowers are cold unfiltered air and I also had issues with them putting dust/dirt into the water while drying. My master blaster is awesome. Expensive yes, but works. Filtered warm air to dry the car, without getting it dirty again. And, My master blaster warms up quite quickly with the 10' hose, but takes awhile longer with the 30' hose. The BigBoi looks like a nice unit but I haven't tried it. Good video and informative for someone that hasn't been able to try them first hand!

What is the benefit of having filtered air? If the air is dirty, aren't you just going to be blowing it onto the car anyways?

I use the sidekick blaster for wheels, engine bays, and motorcycles. It’s a quality made tool! I’ve been wanting to try their larger blowers for drying the rest of the car and have had my eye on the 8hp model. After watching this video I think a 4hp model would do just fine!

I've owned the Master Blaster for well over 10 years. The only issue I've ever had is that the blower, when both switches are on, is quite a electrical load. I soon found out that, if the blower is on at the same time another heavy energy user like a pressure washer is operated simultaneously on the same electrical outlet, it will trip a 15 amp breaker. Once aware, I never had a problem. The Master Blaster shouldn't need an extension cord under normal circumstances but if one is needed make sure to use one that is the same or heavier gauge wire or you could have a fire.

I have had a single motor Blaster for over 20 years now, it is still going strong, use it on my 66 Chevy pick up, 96 Jeep Cherokee, Land Rover Defender 90, all of my motorcycles, mountain bike & the lawn mower too - it is a great bit of kit made in the USA, don't waste your money on cheap Chinese products!

I have a Master Blaster and its smaller companion, the Sidekick. Yes, they're noisy, but that comes with the territory of having hurricane force. The most annoying thing about the MB is how the hose connects to the machine. It would be much better with a twisting locking mechanism rather than the wing screw. I think the air heating "feature" is just a function of the blower motor heating up which is why it's somewhat slow and lackluster. The other machines probably have dedicated heating elements, like a hair dryer. When you decide what's the "best bang for the buck" you should also consider longevity and build quality. The MB is built like a tank; I don't know about the others. These days I don't use either machine very much. After the new toy excitement wore off I'm back to towel drying, using the Sidekick for wheels, mirrors, door jambs and other nooks and crannies. It's easy to become obsessed with hunting down every single H2O molecule.

I can't see heat being that important in the process the whole idea behind these things is 'forced air' pushing the water away.

  • @ppeller3

I have the Masterblaster. I love that thing.... yes it is noisy but they do recommend using ear protection. Yes it's powerful, but isn't that what you want? Gets the job done quick! Mine does get warm by the time im almost done which is a good thing because the hose gets pretty warm to hold. I'm sure those other options you showed us will work too. But I'm pretty happy with this well built quality air dryer! Nice job on this review just next time nix the studio audience! Lol...👍👍

There is no way to get 4 HP out of a typical 120-VAC outlet. You would need an outlet that's rated for 25 A. Normal outlets are 12 or 15 A. Add an extension cord and you might be losing some voltage, too. Those HP numbers are always inflated. Check out the peak current draw, which is harder to fake. And look at the end of the cord. A 20-A plug has one blade twisted...

Nice video not concerned about the heat generating from any blower the metal and the sun alone will help speed the process up for drying. This is the purpose of more air speed is to dry it faster before it leaves water spots. Also if you're in the business time is money so faster drying more productive more cars to do. As far as the noise air plugs. looking forward for more videos.

The Master Blaster wins if you are a professional detailing for a living. Faster drying time. Time is money. Expensive as hell. But I think it will last for years. I have a hand held Harley Davidson Master Blaster. Its obviously made by Metrovac. Its barely adequate for a motorcycle. But I've had it for years.

Thank you for doing this video! It is exactly what I was looking for, and there doesn't seem to be very many decent reviews of these car dryers.
I have just received my new 2020 Audi A6 Avant (wagon - the best looking A6 by far!) and this is the first car in 20 years that I have really cared about keeping it looking fantastic. I had the car polished and ceramic coated so I get excellent water beading and sheeting. I also unfortunately have a bad back and one thing I have noticed is that by the time I get to the point of drying my car with a traditional microfibre towel I'm already hurting and by the time I have finished it hurts so badly I almost want to step out into traffic - this is where I thought the idea of a dryer would be beneficial.
I do have a question for you: have you timed the difference in how long it would take you to completely dry your truck using microfibre towels and how long it would take using the two larger dryers you tested? Also, which do you think does a better, more thorough job?
    Cheers from England! 🇬🇧

Great vid. I got dogs so I went with the free paws 4hp 2 heat temps blower. It’s filtered, long cord , hose expands to 6 feet , etc. no wheels but you can find some wheels or use a moving dolly from harbor freight (small) that the unit fits perfectly in the opening. Now the attachments are hard plastic but a little rubber tubing over the tip and your fine. Cost me 125 and maybe 5 for the dolly. Beats 220 plus

I have the Mero Vac with two speeds, had it for almost 3 years and it always warms up where it sometimes gets too hot for my fingers. I always hated drying my car because no matter what I did, it will always drip from the grille, side mirrors, the trunk, around the doors .......etc
My only issue is the hose might detach from the nozzle, so make sure you tape it and recently the nozzle itself flew off and hit the bottom of the door but thankfully it left a black spot on my car that came off as soon as I moved my finger over it, being made of soft rubber helps a lot.

The issue you need to verify is the current draw of the units. Mobile will mean portable power which kills the Master Blaster I think.
Do a test next on the hand units. I have used the Sidekick several times and great for small areas but bought the pet dryer option at half the cost. For big body panels I use the leaf blower, corded type.

I have actually been using a pet drier for the last month or so, mostly for engine bays and smaller cars. It is slightly awkward with such short chords and hoses but using a chair with wheels adds to the height and also allows you to move it around easier. In terms of longevity I can’t say for sure but it has done the job for what I need so far

Ergo 580 Leaf Blower has no chord, dries the car in five minutes and you're done with power to spare. Cheaper than Metro, too.

Why not use a leaf blower? You can get them in both battery powered, with a cord, and gasoline if you wamt. Stihl i.e.

Why would one want heater in the dryer? You want to blow the water off, not to evaporate it.

heated air dries the car faster

    • @dm9103
      @dm9103 3 роки тому

@@autodetailingpodcast right, but the point of drying is to eliminate the impurities in water that is left behind when it evaporates therefore blowing it off rather than drying it is what you would want. Things such as iron, calcium, chlorine, ect are left behing. Ideally cars should be washed with distilled water but for morals air drying is next best option.

Dude, I gotta tell ya - who are these people? I bought one of these and it has NO power. It took me TWENTY FIVE minutes to dry a freshly-waxed 92 Eldorado and it was so slow to do it that I ended up with water spots and had to abrade it by wiping it down - DEFEATS THE PURPOSE! This waste of money is getting returned and I'll be buying the ACTUAL car dryer known as the Master Blaster. Hm, would I rather have loud, or something that works. Ear plugs? This video wasted $150 of my money and 10 days of my life waiting for this useless PET DRYER (maybe that's what it is actually for, hm) to arrive.

I call bull $hit all homes only have a 20 amp circuits on 120 volt and most breakers 20 amps anyway can have about 80% of full load which is 1800 watts otherwise it will trip at 2400 watts. I think there are 746 watts per HP 746x8 is equal to over 5600 watts at least on the master blaster
