It's nice watching someone play this with a robust background in the TCG. I'm extremely casual in my knowledge and still find myself way ahead of most the people I've seen so far. Watching someone clearly struggle not to throw their phone across the room as their two Misty sit trapped in hand while a Psyduck slowly beats up their water dragon is pretty satisfying. I'd like to see Misty turned into a not terribly designed card. I don't think it's too strong. I think it's a misstep in design.
Poison likely got moved to psychic because of a mix of - Ghost's rep being the gengar line, which is poison & ghost, and a frequency in which psychic pokemon are also weak to psychic type because of ghost type being in there, which further feeds into its identity of being weak to itself. The transition of Poison to dark likely came with the whole thing of dark basically being a monotype whose whole thing is being weak to fighting types. With ghost types now more frequently being weak to dark rather than psychic, and the induction of fairy type into psychic, there were now flavor reasons to have poison in dark, where fairies would then be justifiably weak to dark (allowing psychics to have steel & dark weaknesses), while the movement of poison to dark concretes fighting's identity as the typing of ground types as well.
It seems like they want to keep precedent set by the irl game. Pokemon that got a pre-evolution later (Pikachu, Magmar, Electabuzz etc) were introduced as basics. Instead of future printings releasing as stage 1 they released the new pre-evolutions as “baby” pokemon. They could be played as basics, and their evolutions *could* evolve from them but didn’t have to. That mechanic has changed many times over the years but things like Hitmonchan have always remained basic.
I’ve enjoyed the Pokemon TCG content a surprising amount given my lack of interest in the paper game itself. I will say that I preferred watching you play the slightly more complicated full game over this version, though.
Love psyduck red card turn 2, turn 4. My budget golduck, tentacruel, frosmoth misty deck can beat anything having alot of fun. I need 1 giovani still to be better
I could see it if finding evos was more reliable but evolving on curve is inconsistent enough I think youd rather gave first attachment most of the time.
Yay Martie, I have a question about this, the thing is I hate netdecking because TO ME it make games feels repetitive and boring, playing again and again to the same "meta decks" . Do you think this will turn out to be the same? If it is not already like that haha
A meta is literally guaranteed in a game this large. Optimizing is a common goal among players and stat tracking just causes metas regardless of intending to. Pokemon is MASSIVE, itll always have a meta
@@Rainbow_Sheep Yeah, I know :( But what I was trying to catch on was; Is the "meta" so oppresive that you can't play a silly funny deck without being punished because the power gap beeing too massive? I know is a dumb question to ask and I don't have anything against people who wants to play competitively ^^ But, can you enjoy it while trying to play what you want?
@UncertainCapybara I dont think it is, Pokemon is usually pretty good about that. The Marowak deck I played for example is pretty off meta but I felt like it had a decent shot if winning most games.
Seems like people have very quickly realised that low energy costs are a big deal, with only 3 points per game I'm not surprised. Without a lot more energy cheating or some serious stall cards I could see mons like Farfetch'd and Kangaskhan becoming staples.
I think they do too little damage, once an ex gets powered up they blow through smaller things. The health on Kanga might be enough to keep it as a card to buy time while you find evolutions, I would have liked to try it in this but I dont have any yet
@@MartianBuu I mean staples in the sense that they play a supporting role in a lot of decks, much like you were using Psyduck in this one, the energy efficiency lets you spend the energy elsewhere. Of the two Kangaskhan does seem stronger, but I can see people hating the variability.
Day 4 of asking Marshie to play Renathal Singleton Questline Priest just because I think it'd be neat and while not necessarily a Pókemon TCG fan, will still remain supportive of the content variety
I love seeing Marshie happy uploading pokemon, will definitely give it a try when it comes out for mobile, love your comtent Marshie
Word for word what i wanted to comment 😁

THIS IS WAS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! MARSHIE PLAYING POGO
Got too excited. I meant PoPo
I’m very excited for this game and glad to see Marshie enjoying
I really hope the Pokemon-centered channel works out. You seem much happier doing Pokemon content than Hearthstone and other stuff

ahh what a fine morning, time to pull out my daily support- MARSHIEEEEE!! *waves fist in air*
I've collected pokemon cards since my childhood, but never played with them. I guess this is my calling, thanks marshie!
Its wild to see moves with little to no text on them.
1:57 why is hitmonchan not a stage 1 because tyrogue?

I put Marshie in my pocket but all I got was a lot of Buu
I'll give it a try when it comes out, though from the gameplay it looks relatively simple, which isn't a bad thing, but probably not for me.

hi marshie! what's your favorite pokémon? either favorite card, or favorite just in general
Favorite Pokemon is Bonsly, card to play is M Gardevoir EX (dual type), card to look at Discovery Espeon/Umbreon.

Mewtwo with gard wants to go first to build the gard early as possible and starts hitting 150 constantly
I could see it if finding evos was more reliable but evolving on curve is inconsistent enough I think youd rather gave first attachment most of the time.
Im actually having alot of fun playing a random starmie ex deck
I heard they put pocket monsters in your pocket. What’s next, monsters?!

In the age of the internet all games with have meta things to do, sorry 🤷

@@MartianBuu Ty so much for the answer Martie, and the feedback, I will sure give it a shot then, as a huge fan of pokemon and tcgs ^^
I really hope this video does well, it has the marbuu vibes.
Not first but I'm psyched to be here.
As i'm not really into pokemon TCG, i love Marshie stuff, so i'll still give you my like
Marshed potato for dinner again, honey?

Unrelated to the video but I would really like you to see you playing egg hunter, specifically the latest version since it looks very interesting
Well at least its not balatro, that game sucks
