  • Marine Mammals of the Salish Sea: A Guide to Identification and Responsible Viewing with Erin Gless, Executive Director of Pacific Whale Watch Association 6/14/2023
    ----------------------------------
Ever wondered how to tell a gray whale from a humpback whale or a seal from a sea lion? A Bigg’s killer whale from a Southern Resident or a river otter from a sea otter? Erin Gless of the Pacific Whale Watch Association joins us to share all about the Salish Sea’s most common marine mammals, how to identify them, and how to view them responsibly at Cocktails & Fishtales with Harbor WildWatch. These events are an engaging and interactive way to learn about the environment, and bring together eco-enthusiasts from our local community. We are excited to be meeting in person at Ocean5 for this exciting presentation!
Erin Gless holds a BS in Biology with Marine Emphasis from Western Washington University as well as a BS in Public Relations and a BA in Spanish from the University of Miami. She has been a passionate member of the whale-watching community since 2008, working as a whale-watching naturalist in both Southern California and the Salish Sea. She is particularly interested in the region’s baleen whale species - minke whales, gray whales, and humpback whales. She also volunteers for Cascadia Research Collective cataloging pantropical spotted dolphins in Hawaiian waters.
Cocktails & Fishtales are educational events. As such, Harbor WildWatch does not endorse any speaker, service, or product represented at Cocktails & Fishtales.
