I used to listen to Mystery Theater on an AM radio station out of Philadelphia back around 1980. I was about 12 y/o and my bedtime was 10pm. The show didn't start until after the 11pm news, so I had to pretend to be asleep, then I had to keep the volume on my clock radio to an absolute minimum. On school nights I'd usually fall asleep after Act 1, but on the weekends I would try to listen to the whole show. I'm very glad to see these episodes posted here on UA-cam for a new generation to listen to and enjoy as much as I did! 👽👻
I listened to this radio show in the 1980's on WSB radio. I found them again in 2017 on Old Time Radio app but these were not on there. Chilly you have done a great job bringing this great program back. Thank you
When I was in college in the late 1970's, I stumbled across CBS Mystery Theater on the am radio @ 10pm Sunday night. I was hooked after listening 5 minutes. I found out they played the CBSMT only Sunday nights. When I graduated from college, I had to stop listening because my first job was 3th shift. I am so glad they dusted off the episodes and put them out for the public to listen to them...
I never grew up listening to these, heck never even thought about their existence until someone gave me some CD's with Weird Circle, Dimension X, and The sealed book. Started searching You tube and found you Chilly. I'm so hooked on all these radio shows now. Best part is my 13 year old loves to listen with me :)
Same thing for me! (except for our two cats who love to listen with me) and, even my husband once in a while). I even started buying audiobooks of classics and mysteries but they quickly became too expensive. All I had to play them on was my iPod, but they had very good narrators. It wasn’t until 2017 that I could get an iPad, and found these on UA-cam. Thank you again for posting these!
I know I feel like a kid again too. I remember so many things when this time with going on. I love the commercials. It's amazing how the past can really make your future even better. Like a 19 inch color TV wasn't very big deal. Today no one cares about anything. Especially Jesus Christ.
I gave up watching TV about 6 years ago...now in 2019 TV sucks worse than ever! I listen to audiobooks and listen to radio dramas like this, as it causes the brain to fashion the "optics" of the story!
So I'm not the only one. Gave up on tv in around 98 99 or so. Between UA-cam and an extensive quality 📀 collection, who needs the LobotomyBox? "I'd rather hsve a bottle in front o'me, than to have a frontal..." well, you know the rest.
Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes? My wife and I have been without a tv for about a year and half. And I don’t miss it at all.. I do watch educational you tube videos, and we listen to old radio shows and mysteries, and audio books. I now focus on writing my goals down and meditation. And I’m ( we’re ) much better off !! 👍
The only time I watch TV is when my husband occasionally wants to watch a show with me. I live on these radio dramas. BBC, CBS, Lux Radio, etc. I especially like them for bedtime.
Me too, Cat! I suffer from chronic pain and chronic headaches...thankfully sound does not bother my headaches, and during the dozens of hours a week I spend in bed because of headaches and pain, audiobooks help me pass the time and keep my sanity.
Sleeping with your phone on isnt sleep, its exhaustion of conscious state. The only way to get full recharged sleep is in total darkness. No radio noise, no tv, etc. Serotonin production is actually diminished, and even more so by taking serotonin supplements. I know all this and yet do it too.
I’m 35 and for some reason, these feel and sound so familiar to me. The twilight zone (original) is my favorite. However, I can’t fall asleep to these...they scare me! Haha
Can’t go to sleep 💤 unless I listen to a show like this one.Enjoy the quality and depth.Tommy from Belfast 🇮🇪 Let me know what part of the 🌍you are from.sleep well 🙏🏿
A lot of the actors heard here were very active during the Golden Age of Radio. Several of the music bridges were originally used on many shows produced in the 1950's. Himan Brown was very active in vintage radio as a producer/director. The squeaking door was first used on INNER SANCTUM, which was one of the shows he produced.
I like these radio plays. Used 2 listen 2 them on AM810 WGY out of Albany/NY. When i 1st heard them it'd be airing @ midnight then they were moved back 2 7PM then 4ward 2 11PM. During the l8r times, i usually would fall asleep while listening, but not always. I like 2 visualize the story taking place in my mind, like a mental TV set. It sure is a way 2 keep my mind active. The lady alien's name is Maru.....which is Japanese 4 SHIP. Y'all take care now. Peace.😊
Timothy Merchant hi, my friend does the exact same thing as u in that when he txts he presses the space bar twice to make a space but inadvertently puts in a full stop or a period if ur from America!! I don't mean to come across as impertinent!!

Jada Rowland is enchanting in this episode. Sound effects and music are also immersive. I’ve listened to this one dozens of times
And dont get tired of it, right?
I remember in Lubbock, Texas in 73 and 74 my buddy and I would drive around town and listen to these old radio shows. What a good time.
I lived in Denver City, back then. 💜
Bet... I was only about 8 yr old... Lolzz
✌️🤠💚
This is 10 times better than a video. My mind is picturing every part of the story.
Thanks very much. I haven't listen to the CBSRMT since the 80s. Great stuff. Brings back the memories.
I'm seriously addicted to these!!! 🤘

Chilly you have done a great job bringing this great program back. Thank you
But this aired in 1978, and was forced off the air in the early 1980s- the decade of greed is good.
Listen to these in bed at night with wireless earphones so as not to disturb my wife. In my opinion, better than videos. Many thanks.
pjr1525 I’ve lost interest in videos because of Chilly! 👍
Robert Gardea what is the name of that channel i would like to listen.
That’s how I listen too! 👍

Thanks a bunch for these uploads. I feel like a kid again discovering and enjoying these. Mandatory at bedtime for me now.

I have listened to old radio show since 1988. I was in grade 10. Now I'm 47.
Many Thanks for these, Chilly... very fine dramas.

Radio Mystery Theatre was forced off the air after a multi-year run beginning in the early 70s thanks to the Reagan Republican greed is good 1980s.

I loved this radio drama.

Radio Mystery Theatre was forced off the air by the mid 1980s.
These are really great to play when you are driving the highway late at night.
My favorite show to fall asleep to. Didn't know they had an alien episode. Can't wait til tonight to listen to it!
They even have several alien episodes 😀
Love these stories and they're greatly acted.
You've hit it on the nail, another fantastic episode- thank you!
These are great - Wendy Carlos' "Spring" from Sonic Seasonings at 39:00
❤️❤️❤️❤️ I don’t even believe in ET but I still love these!
That's what I'd say too if I _were_ or if I was an alien! lol
Seeing is believing. God knows we need ET deliverance in light of mankind's march to self-inflicted extinction.
Wish i could dissapear in a portal...thanks for sharing these
You're welcome Tim.
Same here, If we only knew what was on the other side, they aren't always friendly, but neither is this side.

ADAM ANTMAN why are some shows so poorly done, its like they are just reading the lines?
This was fun. I got to imagine the scenes
awesome!
