Born and raised in LA and moved to LB to have my kids 12 years ago. I love it here. Everyone here is real and kind. After the riots happen here, everyone was out there cleaning up and helping the shop owners put up wood in their broken windows and thats the sort of people that are here.
yeah i heard those riots right down the street, next morning , the pike was being built back up right away
There was a lot of people just with clean brooms taking pictures for the gram. It’s fake love. But, there were a good handful of people just do it for the community too

Left Hawaii and lived with my Long Beach family for 2 years and I remember my 3rd day there my cousin drove me around and I asked him to show me 21st and Lewis. He told me this ain’t Hawaii, we could get shot just for being Samoan. Big time culture shock for me.
What does weso mean?
My family moved from Inglewood to Long Beach because it was a calm and safe place during the 80's/90's when crack was running rampant. Yeah, they had some shady areas but for the most part it was good family living. You could walk down the street almost anytime of the day or night and not get pressed. Long Beach was nothing like South Central or Compton back in the day. Hell, one of my classmates at Poly was Cameron Diaz. lol. I love Long Beach, was just there a few weeks back and had a good ol' time.

I've ALWAYS said Queens and Tha LBC are hella similar, especially with their amounts of street rappers and beef amongst each other. Both sections are hella loaded with dope talented individuals, and real gangsta azz folk, as well.
and they both are touchin the water and both are relatively calm for the most part with Queens for NYC and Long Beach for L.A. county
Well said! I guess I learned something new today I had no idea of the similarities between Queens and Long Beach wow 🤔

I moved from the HD to the IE and went to CSULB in 2000 and lived in long beach till 2006 on Magnolia and 6th street (South West Long Beach) which is North Pine and east village right around the corner from Poly High and the eastside. I got to know the Cambodian's, SOS, rolling 20's, Insane, Baby Insane. The Eastside Longo's used to bang on me all the time lol but never did anything just flashed signs on me lol I'm too big 6'3 250lbs.... I love Long Beach, My family lived in LB in the 80's and 90's and spent summers in LB when I would come up from the HD. My brother graduated from CSULB in 98. I used to go to block parties and House parties in the mid 90's as a 8th grader and used to witness the crips getting down on a regular basis mostly Insane and Insane ran Long Beach. Rolling 60s before Nipsey was even relevant used to come to our campus parties, frat parties, house parties and bang on everybody. 60's used to come down and pick on all of the LB Gangs. I had friends who went to Long Beach Jordan on the North Side but you never really heard about the North, it was mentioned alot and peopel from the North would claim it but alot of people from Compton were always in long beach.
Long Beach is bs now because of how hard it is to live out here it’s only gone be the rich out here in a minute watch
Yeah....but crime dropped dramatically since the 90's so its no surprise that gentrification is running wild in Long Beach. See those million dollar homes behind Food4Less on Willow? But it is true, affordability is making it harder and harder to live out here. Wouldn't call it bs though because I rather how it is now vs in the 90s all day every day.

Born and raised in Long Beach. Been here since 1979. This city literally doesn't have a black population like it once did. They have all moved to Vegas, Texas and AZ and GA. Long Beach is a city that was once a working class place and is now a knock off Santa Monica with high rent and no good paying jobs were nobody is from here just a bunch of transplants
Yo Deon,
I feel this.

I like what he said about knowing your importance if you’re important. Andy culture needs to stop being hypocritical when it comes to that subject. We can’t on one hand ask men to lead and uplift the community and then a month later if they are in a situation like bun bee turnaround and call them a snitch if they’re not even active in the streets anymore. I love what Nipsey did for his community, but the truth of the matter is, if you are successful and you stay in that same area it’s just not going to work out. And you can’t promise 50 motherfuckers a six figure salary job on your security team just because you made it. You might take one or two of the people you trust the most in the world with you, but only if they’re actually helping the situation and not getting you into fights out there trying to shine because they with you.
Once a rapper hits, a certain status, and he’s had multiple albums, some of them gold maybe one or two platinum, they’ve been on TV hundreds of times, I’ve a few movies they’ve done, endorsement deals ……. they always have where they are from in them. There is a celebrity now. Now they’re at the point they have to pay people to protect their mothers and their sisters and their brothers and their uncles and shit. You can’t live to lives and then be caught in the situation where you just need to protect your loved ones, but you’re sitting there thinking “well I need to handle this in a street or otherwise some dumb motherfucker on the Internet might think I’m soft”. get out of the street, you can reach back sometime and Linda helping hand, but you can’t have motherfuckers depending on you to live if you’re important. If you’re truly important, you’ve got more important things to do then just sit there and hand out money to people.
